Just had the game of my life defensively as my Center for the Magic. We we're matched up against the Wizards this game, and John Wall is one of the many PG's who absolutely trashed my team during the rookie season. Last time we played he score 38 points and 11 assists against us and I remember him constantly burning us on the pick n' roll with the mid range pull up game.
So made it a point to shut down John Wall this time around, and it was beautiful. The moment Payton would get screened, I'd be there to hedge the pick n' roll hard. Any and every time John Wall thought he'd would have an open jumper, I was there to get a hand in his face. He still scored 18 points, but on 7-29 from the field, so I can already see my impact there.
Rather than trying to block his shot or using intense-d for the shot contest, I just used the right stick defense and it worked like a charm. I was able to contest his shot and remain in position to grab the rebound so this was a great game for me and the Magic as we claimed victory.
I'll admit though that it seems like the CPU was forcing the offense through John Wall because its not often I see one player take over 25 shots in a game.
