Re: NBA 2K15 (Next Gen.) Official MyCAREER Thread

Made a 7'3 Center, got 10 day for Raptors and then another 10 day(scripted?) and finally got my year contract. Very happy to see the much improved rebounding, especially for very tall big men. Out of 8 or so games I never lost a rebound I didn't deserve to lose, no holding my hands out waiting for it to fall while a 6'4 guard jumps and grabs it. Only playing on pro right now as I adjust to the game but teammate AI is pretty good, here's hoping it stays that way on higher modes.

The scripted events seem to be a lot more dynamic, no in-game scripted stuff that messes with you, instead I've gotten a few scenes based on how I actually did. The Raptors mentor, Ross, came after a game and joked with me about how many boards I had gotten that game. If all the scenes are as natural as this I will be very happy. The dialogue/acting is still pretty cheesy but that was always tolerable to me, as long as it doesn't adversely effect me actually playing the game.

There is one big gripe so far, the upgrade system. I really hate that you can't pick attributes individually anymore. Not only does this mean you have to play a lot more games to improve yourself, as all the "bucket" amounts are obviously higher than old VC/SP prices, but you can't focus on specific aspects of your game as well as you could. Batching together all these different stats just takes away a lot of the control you had on how you improve.

It's not all bad though, the badge system is really nice idea and stat caps are based purely on position (many of which are very generous). No more "type" of position locking you, that old moniker changes based on your stats(and maybe how you play?) My title right now is something like Raw Low Post Threat.

Oh almost forgot, there is one really awesome in-game feature I hadn't seen 2k talk about before release, when you get subbed in you get a pop up that lists your current match up. You see their basic strengths/weaknesses, like how good their perimeter offense or defense is. This is really useful on knowing how to approach either guarding or scoring against them. You usually picked up on this, or could check their stats, in past 2k entries but the convenience here is great.

I haven't played since 12, so maybe this is my fault, but I'm HATING the way it's sucking me into layup animations. I'll have my guy beat off the dribble, then I'll hit the shotstick and go into a layup animation that triggers 12-15 feet from the basket. I don't have my finger on turbo or anything. I just want to shoot an open jumper.

Just got my first two badges.

Spark plug (can make boosts coming off the bench or out of timeouts) pretty cool.

Cool and Collected (never go cold) THIS is one of the badges that I had my eyes on. I'm a pretty patient player so I don't usually get cold anyway (hence the earning of the badge pretty early on, I think), but it's nice to have the reinforcement.

Did the acquisition window give any hints on how you got Cool and Collected? Should definitely look into getting a list made up of how to get badges, some of them are obvious but a lot of the personality ones aren't.

Spark Plug was my first as well, then I got Enforcer and the bronze Screen Outlet for doing a lot of on-ball screens.

I got it by doing what it benefits, and I suspect it's this way for all badges. I don't go on cold streaks. I've only been taking really high percent shots when I'm open and trying for putbacks. I've only scored in double digits like 2 or 3 times out of 12 or so games, but got it anyway. You must set a ****LOAD of screens because I haven't gotten that badge yet. Maybe it's because my guy's other attributes aren't up, I dunno.

I do infact set a ****LOAD of screens, I was getting to A ratings in my first few games just from rebounds and screens for the ballhandler to score, not much in way of points or assists. All of my attribute upgrades thus far have been for Inside Scoring though so I doubt it's that.

I'm not sure if I've ever been cold (or hot for that matter), so I'm curious what the other condition is.

Not liking what I'm hearing about the uncontrollable, linear storyline so far. If you want to turn this into an RPG type mode then make ot one where we can actually choose who/how we want to be.

Im still seeing some of the same issues in the mode. Teammates still standing around not movement which probably means your teams not running freelance offense. It seemed like they react to pick n rolls now in 14 any time the cpu ran em your teammates wouldnt rotate. Teammates still tend to over help and leave shooters open, teammates still not hitting the shots they should be
