Fisrt and foremost let me say that I love 2K15, it is a great game out of the box, but in my opinion, it has some big defects which make it far from being perfect from a Simhead standpoint, specially when you play ranked online.
These are my gripes with the online gameplay so far:
Run and Gun:
This is a legacy issue… It is still way too effective. In fact, it is easier to find open looks just pushing the rhythm than running plays, trying to control the tempo and strategize the game… Defensive balance is not powerfull enough (yes I have tried limit transition POE and so), this convert 2k15 online in a “fastbreak fest”.
Movements Shoots:
Come on guys! There are too many players with movements shoots as good as standing shots. This is not realistic at all, I cannot recall 10 players in the current NBA with movements shoots as powerful as those the middle class has in this game. Yes, this is probably a roster (ratings) issue, but it definitely converts the game in a “Turbo to Movement Shoot” crazy party.
Perimeter Defense:
It is almost impossible to defend on ball in the perimeter online. The game is way too overloaded offensively but we cannot counter properly in defense specially due to the little lag (and input lag). I think that, at least the human controlled player should be much more physical (especially if you are using a great perimeter defender) impeding penetrations and shots.
Alley Ops:
Again, too effective and too easy to do in this year iteration. Very hard to defend. Yes, It is nice to be able to have an alley once in while, but not at the expense of making it an exploit for cheesers to abuse…
Too many Threes:
Still… I will just say that I can not get why 3pts shooting is higher than mid range shooting in Sim sliders.
Help Defense:
Am I the only one who see his team mates (I mean great defensive presences as Ibaka for instance) not helping quick enough?
I have also the impression that the game has been dumbed down last couple of days (no, please don't do it 2k!!!) so it is easier to score and make contested shots (even in the paint which is very annoying) but perhaps it is just a placebo efect, isn't it?...
