CPU is a beast on HOF, same for SUperstar, but more realistic on shotting percentagesComment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
So far so good. I love this thread. Quick question: was the game tuned at superstar/sim? Thought I read this in a dev's post. If so, I wanna see how AI plays at that level.
I love how the AI attacks. Players play like themselves (the limited #of teams I've faced, anyway). And I'm still on default difficulty until I figure things out.

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
A problem i've noticed:
After every user miss the cpu is running like crazy and is forcing the ball inside. After the rebound the rebounder is throwing the outlet pass with ease (most of the time without looking) up the court without hesitation which forces a fastbreak-situation you won't see in real life. After grabbing the rebound it would be realistic to have to look for a teammate and then adress the pass. This takes time. If you want to throw it upcourt the cpu-rebounder at least should be forced to turn around to see his running teammate. This routine basketball sequence is implemented badly in 2k basketball games since the start. As it is now it leads to quick scores because this one or two seconds a rebounder needs to get a pass off aren't in the game. This time is lacking for the defensive team to pick up their opponents and to get back on defense.
And this is leading to PIP as well.
I think it is hardcoded. After every user miss, there are no plays run by the cpu. After every user miss it is only run and gun and forcing the ball in the paint.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
Playing against the CPU is much improved this year. It is a challenge without being totally cheese. They still make a few too many contested shots IMO but the games are pretty realistic overall. I beat the bad teams pretty easily. Every so often one of the bad teams will give me a battle while the good teams are generally pretty close.
Played against the Bulls and they kept the score low (in true Thibs fashion) with both of us shooting under 50%. We pulled away in the last 3 mins or so but the game was back and forth throughout and forced me to focus on every possession on both ends of floor. Especially when they went up 8.
Nothing is perfect but this is the closest they have come.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
The AI is scary good in this game. I love it thus far. Default out of the box other than a few slight adjustments is incredible.
You really have to know your match-ups, make defensive adjustments, call a diverse playbook, understand flow offense, improvise on the fly, fight for position under the rim...the game is just flat out a joy to play.
It's going to eventually go down (offline) as the best 2K ever.
As a disclaimer I am coming from playing 2K11 for the last 4 years. So this is a huge leap for me. I tried 2K14 on PS3 but quickly went back to 2K11 within 2 months.
This is a true next gen sports game front to back playing the CPU. Can't say enough glowing things about the experience thus far.Now Playing on PS5:

MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
I especially like how the star players are the focal points of the teams and play like their real life counterparts. Melo gave us the business. He scored on a lot of isos and faceup j's he didn't get a lot of help though and we were able to pull out the win. PG13 was a handful too. Rose was tough to keep out of the lane. LBJ put up like 45 on us with almost no effort. I am almost scared to see what KD has for us.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
Cpu is very very good this year. I think we've said this in the past, but you can really see the difference between teams this year.
The pacing of teams and the differing offensive focus of each team is incredible.
For the online guys, I hope the server situation gets fixed soon cause the on court is too special to not be recognized."I've Altered The Deal..."Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
The game against the CPU is good. I just wish that contested shots were missed more. Also I play on Real % shooting settings and it seems that good players miss quite a few FT's from the line, but the CPU doesn't miss many at all.
It's very strange.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
Wow maybe we are playing different games. My Career on Allstar is IMO damn near perfectly tuned. Superstar/Simis ok when you are on offense but the CPU's shooting is juiced, and so is their rebounding, passing, and offensive awareness. Those aspects are fine on Allstar but their defense stinks. I think the designers underestimated their offensive Ai and underestimated their defensive Ai. My Career is proof that sliders will do wonders for this game.
Then list all those glaring issues in the very next sentence?
"This NBA game is just about perfect... except of course for the rebounding, shooting, passing and defense"
C'mon man - lol
If you notice a problem with that stuff then it's NOT close to being 'perfectly tuned' now is it?Last edited by RogerBlack; 10-14-2014, 02:50 PM.Comment

How can you say its (damn near) perfectly tuned...

Did you really just criticize someone for saying something is "damned near", then lists the issues that make it not perfect for him? Wow. Come on guys.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
Playing the CPU feels like a cheesefest because your CPU bigs are dumb as a bag of rocks. They will try to pick up their man at the 3pt line. I just see the CPU bigs making to many dumb mistakes in this game. Now I actually control them and don't see high pip games anymore actually winning with ease now. I'm also seeing guards coming completely off their man on the weak side for no damn reason.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
Kinda tough. I'm having trouble allowing some teams down. Brook is a beast though. Cant use JJ because he still has that trash jumper in game so I just post and drive with him. Found myself giving Plums more minutes over KG as well

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
My only gripe after playing last night after some new content downloaded is that now there seems to be some more bumping by the CPU when your on offense. And also I played with the cavs and they weren't responding to freelance Poe pick and roll. Instead they ran the 80's offense. However wheni played against them they did run the p&r offense. Weird and yes I had playart on full when I was them.Comment

Re: Playing NBA 2K15 vs. the CPU
I've played the CPU about 2/3 times a day the past 5 days and I get this dumb animation at least 2/3 times a qtr that helps the CPU play defense.
I call it the GHOST DEFENDER!
