Re: IGN Review (7.8)
So if the servers have no more issues, do they raise the score??? Lol. Smh. In the preview, he admitted to having the game the same amount of time we've had the game, which is two days, and since the servers messed up in the two days he's had the game, that is the main contention of dropping the score? Most games that come out with online anything have server issues the first day or so, this just seemed like payback for last years debacle to me.
They waited weeks to review destiny, but kick this review out in two days...lol. Yeah, ok.
and no, most games don't have server issues. SOME games have server issues. Very few have embarrassingly CATASTROPHIC server **** ups.
IGN's score is clearly just them mad about not getting the exclusive pre-release
There's a reason they've never mentioned server functionality before
Likewise a reason why their score pales in comparison to other 2K titles they've reviewed.
This game blows 2K14 out of the water once the servers are in order. What did IGN rate that?
I'm really happy this is happening, and I alluded to this in another thread. The reason why 2K's online components haven't been a bigger deal is because reviewers get early copies. Year after year the problem is swept under the rug because of this.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
I don't agreed w/ the scores. In fact, i am shocked. Now, if this server problem is a permanent issue, sure I agreed with the scores...but it's not! It'll be fixed and everything will be cool. If 2K can't fix it...there is going to be a lawsuit for sure...but that i don't see that happening. It's only a couple days since the game released. I think it's stupid that IGN give it a low score because of server problem since I anticipate this is only a temporary issue.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
IGN's review and 2K's issues, which are both for server issues, are examples of why I think gaming is becoming too online dependent. MyLeague alone is enough for me to give this game an 8.5. Lovin' it!After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
So do they raise the score when the servers are fixed?
Why not just wait another week then release your review?
I don't bother with IGN these days. Haven't for a couple of years now. But although it's a fair review score now, it won't be a week from now. Seems... odd.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
The only people here butt-hurt about this appropriate and deserving scores are obviously irrational 2k fan boys, it's just a video game. I don't feel this game deserves anything above an 8 even if the online issues are fixed, which I doubt they will be.Comment

I came into this game fully anticipating all of this, so I'm not as affected as some are. My problem is that I never anticipate online would **** with my offline experience. Inability to play, and ****ing with my player's face were unforeseeable annoyances. I'd like to take my guy online, but if not then s be it.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
Because the game should be reviewed in the state it was released to the public.
A second review can be done once the server issue is "better" but in no way should they wait for that.Joshua:

NBA 2K14 on PS4 and Xbox One practically sells itself. I mean, look at it. Look. At. It. Here is a game whose visuals are so beautifully realistic that you almost have to stop and try it, regardless of how much you like basketball.
Ctrl + F: "Server". Not found. Despite the fact that server issues were 2K's calling card for a number of years. You don't need a game post-server to write about it. There's a reason it was ignored then and why it isn't now. They wanted an excuse to dock a couple points to a game that is otherwise superior and a major improvement across the board from it's predecessor... that got an 8.9 for "ooooh, shiny".NBA 2K25 Roster: Real 2K Rosters - Modern Era

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
And why not wait? They played it for what? Three days? And they've managed to get deep enough into every mode to review it properly? Nah. I don't think so.
Do what people did with destiny. Wait until the servers are sorted, play it for a week and give a more in depth and balanced review.
As long as they update the review after the servers I don't mind. But if they don't thats just shoddy journalism. To be expected of IGN though I guess.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
The text of the review is very complimentary when 2k15 deserves it. He praises the gameplay, the animations, the presentation, the improvements in some modes, and he says he recommends the game as an offline basketball game.
However, if 2k insists on making NBA 2k an almost 'always online' type experience, then you have to review the product for what it is. It works both ways, if 2k is forcing us to be dependent on servers, then their product should be evaluated in the context of how it works.
Besides 7.8 is still a pretty decent score. Sometimes scores like that look a bit on the low side, but if you read the text in full, it actually makes some great points.
I'd give NBA 2k15 a 9-9.5 based on gameplay. I am absolutely loving it, the on-court basketball has never been this good. Everything else? It's horrible. If you want to design your game around the need for an internet connection, then your product will be reviewed around this as well.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
So finally we've reached the era when sports videogames are mainly reviewed and criticised for their online functionality. As a middle-aged offline and same couch gamer this is really sad for me. I know though that everything changes and I can understand the frustration when online functionality is broken.Comment

Re: IGN Review (7.8)
I am basically accusing IGN of rubbing it in 2K's face that they didn't get a pre-release exclusive. Don't confuse their review scores with actual unbiased reporting/reviewing. IGN wanted an excuse to dock some points.
2K14 LG: 9.3
2K14 NG: 8.9
Review Summary: Graphics pretty. High rating.
