Re: Players need to get behind the damn 3 point line

From what I've seen, there are two issues that cause the long two with the toe on the line:

First, it is very difficult for perform a subtle movement in-game, which means you're either on the line, or out of bounds. Players can't take a tiny step to get themselves in position. Of course, this only really applies to the corner three.

The second issue (and I think this would make the game look a thousand times better if they can fix it next year) is that players' feet slide into their jump shot stances. You can catch the ball with your feet behind the line, but most of the time, when you go up to take the shot, the player's feet will slide into the position for their jump shot animation, instead of them realistically setting their feet. I think this stems from the fact that any time a player catches a pass, they immediately go into a triple threat stance, so their feet are out of position to take their standing jumper.

I'll post a video showing what I mean next time I get a chance to play.

This year instead of basic (catch-n-shoot) 'spot up' 3ptr's...

      You gotta shoot ALOT MORE:

      - Wild, running 3ptr's...
      - or turnaround, fadeaway 3ptr's...
      - or 'falling out of bounds' 3ptr's...
      - or one-legged, 'step back' 3ptr's.

You'll get used to it. Eventually.

      Just takes time.

A lot of the catch animations and some of the players signature shots is the main reason.

I had Vince Carter 2 feet behind the 3 line but when he shot it the animation put his foot on the line.

I've also seen passes sliding players near or on the 3pt line. I don't know if that is a CPU cheat tactic or just hard coded to do so.
        True bout my business, Mane!

Yes, Yes, and Yes! You have to be way to far behind the line for the animation to not put your foot on the line.

Dumb thing is a few years ago they fixed it so guys always got behind the line. I miss that now.

Re: Players need to get behind the damn 3 point line

I've seen the CPU do this a number of times. My players will literally get the ball behind the line, then when they go to shoot they somehow have their foot on the line. I've seen once or twice where my player will warp behind the line like they used to. I honestly never had a problem with that, as ugly as it was. It's a damn sight better than getting cheated out of 3 pointers. I shouldn't have to attempt 28 foot shots constantly just to make sure I can get a shot at a 3.

Another issue is players moving after they catch the ball. They'll either not move far enough out into the 3 point line, or move so far out of their mid range sweet spot/spot outside the 3 point line that you can't shoot! It's so aggravating. These two problems go hand in hand.
