Re: MyGM newbie questions
How does draft scouting work in MyGM.
I have a scout (staff member) and when I go to the scouting section I don't get the option to scout for a specific player. Instead it gives all the draft boards and the top quarter or so of the player have up to 25% scouted but I don't get the option to scout individuals?
I'm only 8 games into the MYGM season 1 so does the option become available later?Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
Yea it shows up later in the season. I don't know when though maybe December?
I would like to know about coach potential and badges. I obviously can't train coaches but how do I get their rating to go up and have them earn badges. I'm with the twolves but I couldn't afford to resign flip Saunders or his staff. So I hired chauncy Billups as an assistant then promoted him because he has max potential and I really want to make him a great coach because he is one of my favorite players. also do coaches and assistant coaches have any effect on how players act when you are controlling them. I felt like my players were much less responsive when I had a coach with F ratings but maybe it was just a placebo effect.Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
Just talk to him every time he gets upset. Use the "Coddle" option or the positive one and he'll stop complainingI'm playing with the Lakers and Nick Young is constantly upset that he doesn't start. In my rotation I'm giving 30 minutes a game of the bench as a 6th man. He's still scoring 18 points a game and is my second scoring option after Kobe. Anyone know how to make him happy about being the 6th man?Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
Does age play a role? You get an allotment of points at the start of the season, based on the promotions budget you set.
I'll get back to you on that next week, don't remember off the top of my head.
Unless you want a player to exclusively spend some time working on an area you want to develop more than anything (because he's not good enough or because you want to develop a lethal weapon in his skill-set), you don't want to select a specific skill. Rather, I recommend that you go by player type. Press Y/Triangle on "By Player Type" and select the kind of player you want him to be, and he'll slowly develop the skills required to be that kind of player. Training a specific skill can be much more efficient, but it works to the detriment of other skills, so use it sparingly and only for short stints.
There's a lot of factors that go into this, for example:
- The game schedule, and how many practices it allows. Games are really intensive on a player's body, so high intensity practices in weeks with lots of games can really tire players.
- A player's personality, specifically his work ethic. Players with high work ethic will want to be in the gym more than others, so you might have two players with completely different opinions on the same training regiment, so try to personalize training.
I think you're exaggerating when saying players want you to completely change the training regiment every 3 days, but yes, different stints of the schedule might see the players change their opinion of the current training completely if you're not adjusting it.
Season fatigue is fatigue accumulated progressively. A rest day can do a lot for a player, and to keep players from being exhausted all the time we tuned it to be more forgiving when resting. A progressive fatigue system that accumulates over months in smaller increments would be a different approach, but we wanted to go with something more obvious for this year. We can explore different approaches for the future, so we welcome the feedback.
P.S.: I've said this before and I'll say it again. Players will complain. You can't please everyone, nor is this the point of the mode. Sometimes you'll have to put your foot down and show them who's boss and that they'll have to follow your plan and vision for the team. If you know your players and put your foot down the right way depending on each one's personality, they'll more often than not respect that and let you be for a while.
In my Wizards GM all the vets over 30 are complaining of practicing too hard but the young bucks (mostly Beal) want to run even harder.
It makes sense for old guys to feel as though they don't need to practice as hard.Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
I just want to know the answer for this? Where can i find write up regarding these focus, tempo and rebounding and whats their advantages/disadvantages?Assigning POE's for each team that you play against, I usually look on strengths and weakness of the opponents. How do you take advantage of your opponent's weakness and prepare your team for your opponent's strength?
Where can I find explanations to each:
1. Offensive focus (each explaining the style, its advantage etc.)
2. Offensive tempo
3. Offensive Rebounding
4. Defensive focus
5. Defensive tempo
6. Defensive Rebounding
Like when do you use Neutral Defensive focus as to physical etc. Thanks.Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
Offensive Focus for me determines the plays available in game. The name of the offensive focus will tell you the plays your team is going to run particularly the team you are against.
Offensive Tempo is more on how fast your game is. You have this on shoot at will, its more likely a run n gun type of tempo.
Offensive Rebounding will help you set if you would rather go back on defense after a miss or gamble on getting the offensive rebound for a fastbreak on the other end.
This is based on games I played. Haven't try simulating games.PSN: aeonfury_14

Re: MyGM newbie questions
How do you change player type??
Are there any tips on speeding up the progression?? I'm trying to give Julius Randle better Defense, but I'm unsure on how to exactly do that because I'm having a lot of problems understanding how player progression works. I wish it would go back to drills because that was more clearComment

No, he's absolutely right - the training intensity part is broken. You get an allotment of points at the start of the season, based on the promotions budget you set.

I often get scenarios where a certain player has asked for intensity to be increased (lets say he's on medium), so I raise it to high...then the a virtual week or two later he's angry because I broke my promise and doesn't increase the intensity.
So then I tell himone ahem that I'm sorry and will increase, and I put it up even further to the maximum level (very high). Then once again he comes back complaining that I lied to him and didn't increase it.
The positive /negative responses only seem to work once time, and if I try it again the second time I get negative feedback and the entire staff end up with a -3 to morale. The only way I can avoid this is by using one of the special responses that costs in game currency.
This is a flaw in the game, unquestionably. If I already have have done everything I can to increase the intensity and the player still blames me for lying and not increasing, then how is that fair?
Same thing happens when a player complains about lack of touches. I modify my game plan so he is the #1 option (even to the point where their is no #2 or #3 option) and he still complains about Lack of touches and demands a trade.Comment

Re: MyGM newbie questions
I am new to mygm as i just got my ps4 not to long ago. Ive always been an association player in previous 2K. I have a few quick questions about the mode
Im only at level 2 in mygm so I'm still very early in the game (only played 2 games so far)
1. under mygm badges it shows the ones I've unlocked but there is a button to equip or unequip all badges. I was wondering what are the benefits to equiping a badge or not equiping? Do badges run out after a certain amount of time or something so i should save them?
2. I currently have 14 pitches that i can use. I was wondering how do these work? If i use a pitch will i be able to get more pitches throughout the season to use? or do i get more in the offseason?
3. I know at the beginning of my gm the owner told me they had set a budget for the first season and in following seasons id be able to adjust the budget myself, is their anywhere i can see what the budgets are again for this season?
4. My projected profit is negative 10 million right now and hasn't really moved, though i have only played 2 games. I figure finishing the season with a loss in profit is not good, but what exactly are the consequences for future season to not making a lot of money or even making a lot of money?
5. Laslty i'm playing as the Pelicans and they are 5 million over the cap (68 and i think the cap is about 63) yet i was allowed to sign andrew bynum for 1 yr/4 million. Why is this? did i use a MLE or something along those lines? financially wise i feel like previous versions of the game gave me more information when it came to the team salaries and salary cap. I can't find that really anywhere on this version.
Thank you for the help, sorry if some of these questions were already asked, i tried looking aroundComment

Where can I change the lineups? I go under gameplay but there is only rotations there. I like being able to set my bench line up and the others. But right now the only place to do it is before a game.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

The feature for equipping and unequipping a badge is meant for those that believe the badges are too powerful, or at least that is my opinion. I unequipped every attribute badge that I got because I saw that as the Bucks all of my players just seemed way too good. I had a few players that had +10 to their attributes and I didn't like how powerful they were.Comment
