Agreed, went from the Magic to the Knicks and the difference is night and day, Melo and Hardaway Jr. are lethal...On the other hand my team mates on the Magic were so bad I almost gave up playing the mode entirely.
My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.

Its especially bad when you're still on a 10 day contract and your coach asks you to do something outrageous like "score the next 10 points" so you can get a come from behind win.
And to make matters worse, my player is a defensive minded guard.Twitter: https://twitter.com/RapboYGT

NBA2k11 MyPlayer formula was the best.Last edited by tomzennsbruh; 10-24-2014, 04:25 PM.Comment

I just want the d league back.
But 2k should have it like Madden, before you start my career you have 4 choices top 5 pick but you have high expectations, middle first round not as high expectations, 2nd round pick where you could get cut and undrafted.Comment

also, D league needs to be brought back, period. I absolutely loved the experience of working yourself up and nabbing an NBA spot back in 2k11. we're in next gen, I expected the game to have expanded detail for the minor league system right now, not have it disappear entirelyComment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
I think my biggest gripe with it is that I feel like I have to babysit the AI 24/7. I play SG for the Bulls and for a defensive team Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson don't even average 1 block and both average less than 7 rebounds which is just horrible. They let themselves be the opponents female dog. It forces me to have to go double more than I should and then I have to come back on offense and have to set up the offense when Derrick isn't in the game.
But it is an improvement from last year because now when the 4th quarter comes Derrick doesn't sit back and let me attempt to take over. He actually goes on a scoring rampage.Comment

I like that idea, but I also loved the way NCAA Football did it, where you would play out a full season for your high school before going to the college level. I would love to see that added to NBA games, even if they have to use fake colleges lol.Comment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
I had the idea for a whole new story line....where you aren't a prospect or anything. Just a regular kid who play basketball. One day you hear they're doing D-League tryouts and you go. This is where you play your first game and you get noticed and signed to the D-League. There you play and play until you do well enough to get noticed by NBA scouts, and then you eventually get called up.
I have to admit, even though I like the idea of slow flowing your career, I imagine this thought process is in the vast minority. The majority of people, if given the opportunity would like to come in and win MVP their first season if it's possible.Comment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
This is probably the main reason why this mode is just not good because 2k made it so players don't feel helpless when they start their player. They wanted MyPlayer to be fun and not be realistic so they made it so it doesn't matter what your rating is, the game changes FOR YOU so you can make progress easier.
This is the reason why a SF with a 69 OVR and just absolutely horrid attributes can guard guys like Lebron and KD, etc.
I mean, cmon...I was able to shut down Lebron James and block 6 of his shots and force him to shoot 30% in one of my games. Making him miss threes, causing him to brick mid shot after mid shot, and layups were an even bigger mess.
I stopped playing my SF cause it just wasn't fun for me. I made a PG and am only going to get assists and be a role player. The mode is just too easy otherwise.
And this is on SuperStar Sim difficulty if anyone asks.Comment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
thing is, I actually find the journey from a fringe NBA player to legit star fun... I'm not saying I want to start off with 0 skills but the mode would be so much better if I could face off against other fringe prospects while I built my skills up before finally making it and putting myself against the big boys, instead of just throwing me into the lions right off the bat and expecting me to hold my own, with an AI accommodating me to do just that.Comment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
This is my biggest gripe with MyCareer (well besides not being able to edit sliders). If I want to be a role player the game should allow me to be a role player. At least until My overall goes up and I can help my team more. I like being a role player early on. Not just for the first 20 games but for the First Season. Let me get a season under my belt. A realistic first season should have you finish in the low to mid 70's. Finish as a solid rotation guy. Then next year you can improve.
I find you achieve everything so fast that the mode becomes boring. You establish yourself so quickly.Comment

Re: My Carrer mode really should stop assuming you're a star from the start.
I did not play that well in my first Season as a Center and I did not have all the "omg teams are already clearing capspace for you" etc cutscenes.
So I feel its pretty good right now.Comment

that is definitely a step in the right direction, yeah. But a lot of the other areas in the mode- commentary, dialogue options or even the very appearance of some other cutscenes- could catch up and follow this example.Comment
