Finally turned off the "shot meter". Shot the ball a whole lot better. Good riddance! Sim balling shouldn't have meters anyway. That's more for casual players.

Re: What is the "trick" to shooting?
Everyone else has said it, but I'll jump on anyways.
Watch the player's shot animation and try to release the ball at the apex of the shot. After the shot, glance down at the meter to see how close to perfect you got and use the feedback to help you dial in the release.
If you're looking at the meter during the shot, and trying to time your releases that way, you're not going to shoot the ball well. The meter is just there to help you understand where each player's release point is.Comment

Glad I seen this thread I've been struggling trying to make my shots with this damn shot meter while my Opp just drains shots all game. I'll turn it off tomorrow when I hop on see if it helps.Comment

Re: What is the "trick" to shooting?
How do you time the fade away in the post correctly without the meter? For example Dirk does this lean back fade away where I don't see a point to release. It's really hard even with the meter turned on. Fortunately he is that good that he hits even the shots that are slightly off.Comment
