    How is VC earned?

Shameful admission here--I don't really know much/anything about VC and how it works. I've played the series since they rebranded as ESPN NBA Basketball years ago (and subsequently started using 2k the next year again) but missed out on pretty much all of the current gen games until I got 2k14 in the Summer Sale. I exclusively played various Associations with the UBR mod and don't remember a single mention of VC.

In 2k15 I see that I earn a random amount of VC after random MyLeague games but I see absolutely no breakdown of where the number came from, I just see the number next to profile name increase by an unspecified amount. I normally wouldn't pay any attention but its my understanding the first person career mode requires VC for attribute upgrades...and apparently accessories, which makes zero sense why that would require attribute points (iirc in 24/7 mode you just earned them separately from playing games) but that's a rant for another day.

I would like to stockpile VC for when I dive into career mode so I feel free to give my various characters a damn headband or two without feeling like I'm sacrificing my attribute points. I looked around the internet for a guide that outlines the various ways to earn VC (other than purchasing, seriously is this Candy Crush?) but all I see is EASY AND FAST WAY TO EARN VC FOR FREE and stuff like that.

I just want to know the various ways VC is earned within the confines of normal gameplay, and what settings affect it (and why I earn it in some games and not others). If anyone knows more, or can link somewhere with a complete list/explanation I would greatly appreciate it!

I like playing customized My League games and you get 925 VC a game. It's a good way to practice for My Career.

I've got Legend players on my Bulls team, then I have another with rookies only and the current Bulls team. I do play 12 min quarters.

Got it. I play 11 minute unless I sim the first half (pretty common, thank goodness we can jump in games again!!) and then play the second, in which case its 12 min. I was kinda hoping it was based on minutes played, if so that would be sweet

If you sim any part of the game, I believe you don't get any VC. Personally, if I am going to sim a game, I quick sim it. That way when I play games, they are full games and I get the VC.

Yes if you sim, you get no VC.

MC, the amount if VC is tied to performance and difficulty setting. Not game style. Casual will earn just as much as Simulation.

On everything else it is tied to the quarter length and Win or Loss.

                Re: How is VC earned?

People complain about VC, I I get it for the mist part. But if you just, you know, actually play the game you paid for, you shouldn't have a problem getting what you want.

Personally I hate instant gratification in games. Even though, yes, I wish my player had better ratings and every accessory right now, I like having to earn stuff. More in an incentive to spend time picking up the controller everyday.

This is one of my problems with it, actually. I had 2k14 and never buy sports games in consecutive years, but after I saw how much attention they gave to the franchise mode, among other things, I decided 2k15 was worth the purchase. Simcast was a big part of it, as I hate playing games without true sim stats (which requires 11-12 minute quarters) but makes playing a bunch of games in a franchise mode an impossible task if you want to get through multiple seasons.

Thanks to Simcast, I have the flexibility to play the game how I want, playing the games and getting sim stats by playing the first quarter, jumping into the second half, etc. However, if I play the game how I want to play I may or not be rewarded with VC. It stinks but I'm really only mildly annoyed by this specifically--the concept of VC itself is what makes it annoying by extension.

As stated, I am a big proponent of paying consumers being able to enjoy games the way they want. This includes being able to edit/mod games to your choosing, which is why I am a PC-only gamer. VC takes this away from me--I have no control over the progression rate of characters, I can't make accessories free if I want, etc. I see it more as not having to make as big of a time investment in the game, some may see it as cheating or making the game easier but I don't care--it's the way I want to play and it affects nobody else. I considered playing an offline MyCareer so I could edit skill points with Cheatengine, but don't like the idea of being completely locked out of accessories.

VC would be a great concept for a competitive, online-only game. It standardizes an earnings system and ensures nobody gets an unfair advantage...well, at least it would in a world where you couldn't pay out of pocket for more of it. Dang, I really wanted to say something positive about VC but I couldn't even do that. This is nothing short of a rant at this point and is very rambling but I've already typed it out so I'm just going to go ahead and leave it here.

TL;DR- VC takes away the ability to play/edit the game how I want to, and that's my problem with it.

Yeah, I've found myself conflicted because of this. I want to build up a stash of VC so I have more flexibility to play MyCareer the way I want, so I find myself playing whole games more often than not. The only reason I really want to sim portions of games is because I want to have a say in a reasonable amount of games (franchise modes don't feel the same if I don't), but I can't enjoy games if they don't result in reasonable sim stats. You can't get these stats without 11-12 minute quarters and those take so long that it's hard to play a lot of games in a lot of seasons.

Oh well, maybe I can play MyCareer offline and gain use skill points so I can save all my VC for making accessories and the like free. Then I won't feel compelled to play full games when I don't necessarily want to.
