Re: My tips for playing On-Ball defense (on or offline)
This one goes out to all who struggle playing myplayer/Parke/friends and tired of cheese offense's move's.
Some may already know about this? However you want to play your own denfence Always play with your feet!
I see a lot of people tangle up there feet that cause's slow response misdirection people blow right bye for Dunk's $ layups.
Master the footworks and you will never be frustrated again.Comment

The other thing is, if you double-click the charge button, you're player flops....luckily no fines for these.Comment

Re: My tips for playing On-Ball defense (on or offline)
Okay...so here is one that may help. More a game adjustment than anything...
When I first started playing the game and was soft on defense and trying to do TOO MUCH on D, I preferred setting CPU Defensive Assistance to 50.
Now that I'm getting better on defense and playing smarter...I prefer having it set to 0.
More responsiveness to my Right Stick movements and hands up, along with more responsiveness in traffic when I go for steals, pokes, blocks, etc. Also it stops me from getting "stuck" in a defensive stance - both in 1-on-1 defense and help defense when I switch to the help defender.
With Def Assistance set to 50, there would be these times where my guys would react very slowly and instead of getting to the ball would stay stuck in their stance and backpedal or give a half-hearted effort.
If you're just starting 50 may be the way to go...but if you're getting better with the tips from this thread, you may want to bump it back down to 0 and see if that helps.Comment

I will definitely try this. I wish 2K would fully explain all of these settings and sliders. We are all experimenting but I would like to knowComment

Re: My tips for playing On-Ball defense (on or offline)
The charges are funny in this game. I feel like there are some I take that are OBVIOUS, but aren't called because 2K doesn't want to limit those who TURBO around all game.
The other thing is, if you double-click the charge button, you're player flops....luckily no fines for these.
Denfence assistance on 0 works well.Comment

Re: My tips for playing On-Ball defense (on or offline)
It's weird...some days I seem better at 0, others at 50.
With these zig-zagging quick match cheesers, 50 might be better...but I definitely feel like I have less control and get fewer steals and blocks. But with all the turbo-ing and zig-zagging, it doesn't make much of a difference anyway.
I'm at the point now where I think they just have to REMOVE turbo the way it is. The idea behind it is faulty and the idea that players can just turbo all the way down the court is beyond ARCADE.
I could see a short "burst" button...but turbo is nonsense. It's the reason why Damian Lillard, John Wall, and Kyrie Irving move around like they are Wayne Gretzky or Sidney Crosby - they glide and float around like they are on ice.
If 2K has any interest in fixing this game, they need to nerf or remove turbo in its current form. It's beyond SILLY.Comment

Someone told me that quick steps will slow down speedy player's. play those cheesy players one side left or right.
because quick steps will have you sliding all over the place.Comment

Re: My tips for playing On-Ball defense (on or offline)
Exactly, sometimes its impossible to defend well online with such input delay on defense. You could know where your opponent are gonna go, you take a few steps back and still are too late to get in a good position against players such LBJ, Derozan etc.Comment

Its a lot harder to do online. I take my time online and try to predict what guys are going to do before they do it. My advice here is too ease off a bit.Comment
