I think even if the shot says perfect release. It shouldn't go in all the time. And I'm talking from a wide open situation with a 99 rated player (in everything).
I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.

OP, unless playing in MYCareer mode, set shooting to Real Player % with the shot meter disabled, and timing notification too.
The default timings for every player is normal, and their shots have all been nerfed to compensate for the stupid addition of the shot meter. Which is why a lot of the players shoot on their way down, instead of up, in this game.
You have to literally switch everyone's timing to quick to make it look realistic, and not get blocked. 2K tried to force the shot meter (which I will always say does not belong in a basketball game, leave that for NFL, Soccer, Golf) down our throats, and you can tell this because Beds, the official roster editor, wouldn't change anyone's shot to quick timing even after the community begged for those changes.
I understand some of you actually want it, for some reason. The meter is in no way traditional nor does it make sense. It's super inconsistent (input lag kills it) and the perfect timing release window is too late in the shot.. Shooting with Curry and default timing is comical to say the least. I think Curry can shoot 3 catch and shoot shots irl by the time he releases one jump shot with perfect timing, shot meter on and default timing.
2K overlooked the games most important aspect. Shooting.
I mean, check out the signature shot thread.. We all edit shots to have quick timing and the majority of us don't even use the shot meter.
This is with quick timing, and set shot 6. As you can see in the video, he does a step back and shoots it quick enough to not get contested, not to mention that's how he shoots in real life.
Stop nerfing the shot timing for the shot meter, 2K!Last edited by Rell7thirty; 12-02-2014, 10:55 AM.Comment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
Both the shots that I've missed in the park with perfect releases went in, around the rim and went out. The first time it happened I was shocked by the second time I realised that nothing is automatic and I guess it makes the game more interesting. Not a big issue to me either way. I've played over 900 park games and it's happened twiceComment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
same thing happened to me with klay thompson, i was wide open on the left wing and he bricked it off the glass and the shot meter filled up green, i was pretty issed too when it happend because i was told as well all "green" lit meters are money, money is green right? LOL this has happened twice now. its def not a guaranteed bucket....another thing they need to fix is the hacking and mugging down low with no foul calls..its pretty ridiculous... i mean they call almost zero fouls on what seem to be should be flagrant , and then theyll call A FOUL IF A fly touches the dude...GTFOComment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
Wang said that green releases are supposed to be 100%. So if someone got a green on CURRENT gen - not old gen - then THAT IS A BUG. And there is no excuse not to upload the video so that Beluba can see it. If you have issues with doing that, then don't complain. I've not seen ANYONE miss a green shot, personally. But I can believe some have missed. So, I would say it's rare enough to not stress over too much.Comment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
I've seen the bar full green, and missed twice before...not a big deal to me, as I'm sure we've all made shots without a perfect release. I make 99.99999% of my green shot meter releases. The Impact of User vs User Sliders In CFM 5.0*

Real NBA players don't make every shot, even wide open perfect form shots so if we want realism then what is the complaintComment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
If you want to make the argument that excellent shots should be more difficult to come by then that is something I can totally get on board with.
Getting tired of the same dead analogy about real players missing perfect shots. That's not what this is about. And don't get all biblical about the real life BS either. 'Cause I don't think a 6' is gonna dunk over a 6'10" & 7' in street ball.Comment

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
People are really missing the point the OP was trying to make. We ALL understand that perfect shots are missed in real life. We were told that if we have an excellent shot it would be going in.

I'm sure someone probably said that at some point but when you put something like this over social media it leads to expectations.
Which is why some people might expect them to Go in - expectationsLast edited by Rockie_Fresh88; 12-03-2014, 10:35 PM.#1 Laker fan

Re: I just missed a wide open excellent release 3pt.
It's my personal opinion, that if every green excellent release IS NOT going to go in, than what is the gauge for them going in? If making a green perfect release shot is arbitrary, than who makes the call as to which shot goes in and which does not? What is the algorithm that says which shot can be made and missed when it's a green perfect release? Because at this rate, quite a bit of speculation can come into play. Is 2K determining results of games because they get to choose which shots go in and which do not?...I don't think that's the case. I think all green perfect release shots are supposed to be going in and something with input lag is changing the release.
Hopefully the next patch will correct some of those issues.Comment
