Regression wasn't so brutal last couple of years at least as i remember it. Guys start to regress too early, in reality players usually peak around 30 or a year before that but in the game they start to regress a few years too early. They should progress let's say until 27, hold their rating until around 31 and start to regress a year after that and not regress like their shot iq gets lower, or their free throw shooting gets lower, their athletic abilities like speed, quickness and vertical should regress, also some injuries could affect in which direction player progress/regress and so, but this isn't such a big deal currently as this too early not really logical regression is, so if we could just get a minor tweak that would make it enjoyable for a more years and make veterans useful, i'd appreciate that.

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
There are so many things that could be done to add nuance to the system, ranging from easy to difficult to implement...it's actually pretty beautiful to think about what could be done. If I start actually listing I know I'm going to wind up writing 500+ words easy here, so I'll be brief.
Even if I had to pick one or two specific things I would want to see added yet year, that would be tough. At the very least a new formula that takes several things into consideration (minutes, injures, morale, and so much more) would make things feel fresh and dynamic. I'm also particularly partial to separating potential into multiple stats, and I even heard an argument for eliminating potential altogether that sounded intriguing. So many ways to make things less static than it has been and currently is.
When it comes down to it though, I'll be able to enjoy the game as long as the curve isn't as harsh as it currently is. I'm not a fan of seeing 80 overall starters completely out of the league in 3 years once they turn 27-28. I would love dynamic progression/regression with more nuance but ultimately I just want to see a semi-realistic age distribution; if 2k can give us that then you'll never hear a complaint out of me because I'll be too busy playing/enjoying the franchise mode (unless they don't advance the system whatsoever in 10 years time
).
Seriously though, for anyone who wants to read or contribute thoughts on the matter, there is a lot of good stuff in the thread I linked iirc.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
You know what's a fun exercise? Pick any player currently 30 years or older in real life who was never a superstar. Now reverse project that player's career, adding 3-4 overall for every year until he is age 28 or so. That's what that player would have had to peak at in order to actually be where he is today.Regression wasn't so brutal last couple of years at least as i remember it. The current system makes it 100% impossible to have veterans who never made All-NBA teams. Jose Calderon would had to have peaked at ~95 overall to make it to where he is today in the game.Comment

I agree but it has to vary somehow.Regression wasn't so brutal last couple of years at least as i remember it. Kobe is 37 but he can still do a lot of things at his age. He isn't 17 year old Kobe but he can still get up and is very athletic.
On the flipside Steve Nash at 39 is physically done. Tracy Mcgrady also (I know he's not playing he's just a example).
2k has to account for wildcards like Kobe, Duncan, and Manu - guys who are aged by NBA standards but still play at very high levels at times.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
Many players are noticing this from the MyLeague forum. I thought I would post this here as well since there hasn't been any indication or acknowledgment of the issue. The Player Regression in MyLeague has made the game mode unenjoyable for many people including myself. Many players will lose multiple points once they reach about age 27 and it just gets worse and worse from there on. As a result, after a few years into a franchise, all players age 27+ have their ratings reduced drastically and almost every team doesn't even have any veterans. In other words, there is literally no development in this mode, just regression. It really has been a game breaking thing for me as I mostly play Associations or in this year, MyLeague. Each year that goes by, almost every player age 27 and up is losing -2,-3,-4, even -5 points after every season. I've never had this problem in any other NBA 2K game except 2K15. I just hope 2K people are looking into this issue.
+1
The regression system has ruined what was turning out to be a brilliant MyLeague experience. The developers need to patch this ASAP.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
well i'm hoping that there's some fixes for this in the patch, i mean six pages of bullet points, and leftos is usually good in fixing bugs in myLeague.
I just want the things like mental and shooting stats to not drop like they are.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
Honestly I wouldn't count on this being fixed in the patch that is coming next week. Either one of two things will happen:
1. It doesn't get fixed until 2k16
2. It gets fixed, but not until another month
Not even mad, just a lesson to not buy a sports game until christmas, if at all, in the future. For this game to be out for over 2 months and I still haven't gotten into my franchise mode, speaks volumes on the amount of flaws it has.
"Association on steriods"
I hope that this is fixed in a way that makes sense. As I have spoken about in other threads, please make a standard regression system.
Make marginal decreases in key attributes tied to the physical decline of a player.
From age 28, players should see a -1 or -2 for all physical attributes each year (speed, stamina, vertical, strength, quickness, etc.)
Basically, we want a system that will take a 27 year old player with 98 speed and make it so that when he's 33-34 he's in the mid 80's in stamina, speed, etc
This magical theory that a player can have a certain attribute at age 28, then magically at age 29 he loses a large chunk of that attribute, is ridiculous.
Declines happen gradually, you don't say "oh you're 29 and not 28 anymore? Here, -5 speed
You do things slowly
Its just a flat out joke that young players literally don't have to play much and see their overall shoot up 4-6 points in a season, while older players can go from one age to the next and drop 5 overall points. Its unrealistic and ridiculous.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
What I meant to say is lets get the word out more effectively. A thread in the general 2K topics is a better place for the issue to get noticed than the MyLeague Thread. This is a game breaking issue for anyone who has played an Association game mode in the past or MyLeague as it's called this year.
More than likely it hasn't been addressed this patch, but that's not to say we aren't having another patch for the rest of the game. Honestly, this is a simple fix in my opinion. The 2K team doesn't have to do a complete overhaul of MyLeague just to fix this issue. It's merely a ratings thing at the end of each season. A simple and easy fix would be to have a set age (age 30 or 31) and have most players regress starting at that age but keep their progressed or neutral ratings prior to that age.
On the other hand, i'm still waiting for someone to at least acknowledge the issue, whether here or in MyLeague.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
Agreed. IT IS the biggest issue in the whole game for people who play this game mode the most. Honestly i spent 90% of my time in 2K games in an association mode prior to this game. It's really painful that there's such a small issue like player regression that's holding this game back for me. If there was only 1 thing I would like fixed in this game the most, it's the player regression. This is the biggest issue in the whole game. Guys start to drop like 3 years to early and it is just about imposable for any one that is 30 to not get worse and even if a guy has a great season if he is 31 he is going to get worse. Guys at 30 in this game decline like a RB in the NFL at 30 and a NFL RB at 30 is more like a NBA player at 35. Just about any rule player who is 27-28 will suck in 2 years and just about any player who is 29-30 and an all star will be just a rule player at age 31-32.Last edited by JRxPHANTOM; 12-05-2014, 04:37 PM.Comment

As a fellow association-exclusive player, I concur. This is #1 on my wishlist and the biggest thing preventing me from MyLeague immersion.Agreed. I didn't have high expectations for progression this year, either. Just wanted to at least see the status quo.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
Again, I don find the progression/regression bad in it self, nor broken.
Actually, what would really make an incredible difference is to make editable the peak age of players (currently hidden and uneditable, you could edit it with unofficial roster editors in past versions, thus nothing should be hidden nor uneditable). As it stands, the peak age needs to be edited on a player to player bases.
Now, is the system perfect ? No, it can be upgraded to better align with positions playstyles (favoring or unfavoring physical attributes vs skills and other attributes as time passes and some tendencies vs others). Would also love to see it related more to season to season production.
Separate sliders would also be a welcomed addition.
Anyways, here is to hope for at least a roster update to aid the system with better individual peak ages.Last edited by ffaacc03; 12-05-2014, 05:37 PM.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
Either way, this still won't be fixed soon, we'll probably have to wait another month, maybe a little less, for a fix/approval process.
Can something like this even be fixed without people having to restart their franchise?Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
At the very least I would love a player regression slider...just like how we can control progression now - I'd like to at least adjust regression to what I want.Comment

Re: MyLeague Player Progression/Regression Patch Fix
I subscribe to the theory that there's almost nothing you can't fix by throwing sliders at it, as long as the sliders don't break it. I would love nothing more than to buy NBA2k one day, start up a franchise mode, and be presented with 100 sliders that I am free to leave alone or adjust to my liking.
There are so many options just for progression/regression. Slope/severity, age of decline, effects of external factors (individual sliders for minutes, coaching, morale, chemistry, training, injuries, random chance, etc), a slider to determine overall likelihood for players to reach their ceiling, you name it. One day there will be a AAA sports game with text sim elements, and until that day I will be saving so that I can retire and play that game all the damn time.Comment
