The same thing happened to me yesterday. I bought a physical copy of the game and downloaded and installed the entire 54.27 gb overnight before I played.

The Spurs/Heat game had the "update required" language on the bottom left and even if I quit out of the game it would kick me back to the title screen where if I pressed X it would restart that game.

I had no choice but to let the computer control the game and let it play out to completion while I watched TV. When the game ended I was able to select the quit option and the game magically moved on.

My guess is that either you HAVE to go through the entire Spurs/Heat game (like it's not just an elaborate loading screen) or there's a second, hidden download beyond the 54 gb.

If you have to keep playing that game over I'd guess your system is having trouble with this hidden download. I assume you've tried to uninstall and reinstall the game?

Correct...I've done it twice. Really weird. And I've gone through the Heat/Spurs game multiple times....

Yes I would delete it one more time. And install it. But play the game out. It should working after a while.

Still haven't done it. Got the update thing to go away on the bottom left tho, a small win? This is insane. I've had the game since friday. I even left it on the start screen the entire day yesterday, and nothing.

There has to be a fix...2K hasn't said anything about this?

Have you verified that the game is fully installed? You can check by going to the PS4 dashbar, highlight the game and press options. If it's not installed, there should be a text saying "17g out of 54g" installed or something like that.

Step 1 - Take the disc out of the PS4
Step 2 - Wipe the disc on your shirt or with a clean cloth
Step 3 - Reset the PS4, then turn the PS4 off
Step 4 - Put the disc back in it's case & return it from which it came

When I first got the game when it came out, I didn't play the Heat/Spurs game. I just popped the disc in and let it do what it wanted for a few hours while I was at work. Came home and it booted up perfectly.


Seems like the people who got too impatient were the ones with the major boot up issues back then.

Reinstalled last night....Still...nothing...Can't play.

I've got this problem with the Digital Download version, on my 2nd time of letting the CPU play the Spurs Heat game

Hi folks,

I've noticed people have posted about my issue, but haven't really seen a solution. Here is what is going on.

I just rented through redbox. I'm stock on the main screen where it has you press X to continue, and the heat Spurs game. I'm fully installed, no disk sounds, says 53 GB. On the bottom left it says "update required" then a brief message. What's going on? Is this a SONY issue? I installed it yesterday, still nothing, I've played countless games of the heat Spurs demo.

I'm have did same problem right now the game is fully installed I'm tired of looking at this message at the bottom left saying update required return to the main menu to apply update...how da heck will I get to the menu if it keep bringing me back to dis damn Spurs heat game I just wanna scream ugh

Yeah I had this same problem on Christmas Eve.. Eventually it loaded on my ps4.

It also happened on my buddy's X1 couple nights ago after we downloaded a patch., the only thing that finally worked was completely disconnecting from the internet and restarting the xbox.
