Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
This guy is complaining about a feature that helps people find their man due to a bad camera angle or similar clothing.
I'm trying to figure out in what world is it considered "bad" defense to know who you're suppose to guard?Comment

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
If someone doesn't know enough about basketball to realize that they don't necessarily have to follow the arrows, I seriously doubt they're going to know how to properly hedge screens, switch, and the principles of help-side defense.
The arrows are there to help you locate your man when he's off-screen, and help newcomers by pointing out who they should be guarding. Turning this off isn't going to suddenly make them realize how to play defense, it's just going to lead to their man being left open more often because they couldn't figure out who to guard.Comment

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
If anything, it helps people new to basketball and others more than it hurts them. 9/10, I don't even recognize the arrow unless my guy is out of the camera or a lot of guys look the same. And most people use it because it's on by default as it should be. People will always find something to complain about.HATE LOSING MORE THAN I LOVE WINNING!

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
Instead of attacking the messenger, how about learn how to address the 'argument'.
Because some of you have reading comprehension issues, let me be over-clear:
1) Pointing out things is not equal to "crying", "whining", etc. Maybe you should work on your knee-jerk, 'defend 2K at all costs' reactions. I never said it was a "game-flaw", just simply a plausible explanation of why people suck at TEAM defense at the park. Sorry if I exposed your noobness and lack of basketball IQ.
2) Talk to me when you don't see what I pointed out happen all too often at my park. Noobs get obsessed with almighty arrow, and in the process never learn how to play team defense / rotation. Now is pointing this fact out "crying"? Maybe only to those who are hyper-sensitive to any criticism, or those who interpret every valid argument as "crying" or "trolling". Gimme a break.
I don't care if you think it's whining or not (that's subjective), only if you can provide a counter-point to what my original thing was...which so far, hasn't been done.Comment

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
Honestly I think you're being quite rude by creating a thread then laying into people for having a counter point. Your last post clearly shows how you'll attack anyone if they don't agree to your every word.
From another angle, saying your whining or crying is a bit harsh. You have a legitimate beef. There are plenty of times I've seen people stuck like crazy glue to their man and no help defense. It sucks to feel like you're guarding 3 people and then of course it leaves one player open for 3, usually the player you're supposed to guard. But the arrow has no play in that.
The arrow is merely a guide, not a crutch for most. Like I said in an early post. If I see a teammate who's habitually peeling off their man for whatever reason and I'm the one that gets burned, good luck seeing me help on defense for the remainder of the game. Or at least until they get the hint that they need to d-up. Also, I mentioned before about your grade affecting how we play defense now too. If I start help defense early on in the game and I get burned my grade gets into the D's pretty fast. Before they fixed the teammate grade I got booted a few times. I don't want that to happen because I'm helping on defense. So you better believe I'm sticking to my man.
Here is a rare instance when I love the arrow. Last night I was in a game that went 'Ghost'. This happens very rarely, I can count on 1 hand the times it's happened to me. But I need the arrow to keep playing any sort of defense. Again, very rare, but was extremely helpful.Comment

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
I still maintain this is a Training Wheels feature. Problem is, people online don't grow out of that training wheels phase by keeping it on. I think you'd have to be blind to not think this plays a part in WHY people don't know / understand / learn how to rotate on defense. Their concern isn't team defense, their concern is "I guarded who the arrow told me to so can't say nothin!"Comment

Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
So in that case I assume you play with the shot meter and feedback both off and no play view, pass icons, icon pass leading? To be honest I play this way most of the time but it's just a personal preference choice and relates a lot more to the fact that I really like making videos so the less non realistic "clutter" on the screen the better.. since I've been doing this the only significant increase in my skill level that I've seen has to do with being forced to know my play books a little better. I'm Amy case though I don't see why it should matter to you how anyone else plays... if you think they're getting an unfair advantage, than really what's happening is you're giving yourself a disadvantage by not using the arrows. There's enough three point and zig zag cheese around that I think we can leave the players playing with the default defense suggestions enabled alone...Check out my YouTube+Twitch channels for Franchise play+tutorials for NBA2K Madden , MLB The Show and Fifa, both under /alltimesportsgamer . Re: Why do people need the "who to guard" arrow
I play with the icons off too for the same reason you had and it's less clutter on screen. The only reason I care how people play is because the mode is inherently a team game. Don't care how someone chooses to play offline. I'm sure the arrows help for the super new to the game, but imo they also hinder players from learning how to think for themselves and react to what your teammates are doing on defense.Comment

there's nothing wrong with the arrow. it comes in handy on switches or in transition when you're trying to find your man.Comment
