I love the game and not trying make the game seem bad or anything like that. I just don't get how I was able to play good Defense before and the cpu would miss shots but now it's like things is playing a totally different way. I did not adjust any settings or sliders for it to be playing any different than it was. Even when I have them down to the last second they seem to make some ridiculous shots.

O and about that switching to box out.. to me it seems like when I do that the cpu makes the shot most of the time. To me it feels like they do this to prevent cheating some way. unless it's just me, almost every time I switch off to box out, the shot go in.
Have you tried adjusting Defensive Settings ? Secondly, defensive POE makes a huge difference. For example if you are going PROTECT the Paint + Play Physical Defense you are gonna get rained on. Like there is a time to use those settings vs specific lineups but if you are facing a bunch of shooters I won't suggest it. If you are suffering open shooter issues I suggest you try this out:

Thanks for all you guys that's trying to help. Like I said before before I'm not here to bash the game or complain because I'm losing. I just would not like to feel like I'm being cheated that's all.

It's crazy how much of an advantage the CPU has. My players react to slow, cpu has crazy speed up on fast breaks, cpu can block passes without even looking, get every loose ball even if you player is standing right next to it, you can play great defense the whole time they have the ball but they hit some miracle shot at the end of the shot clock, you can not close out on shots on get around a pick or catch a player as fast as the cpu can. everything seems slower on my end then the cpu. there passes are faster my passes seem like they are slow and gives the cpu time to catch. the bumping on fast breaks are dumb. i can go on.

dont handicap the user just to give the cpu an advantage or script games...

I dont know if i'm the only one that noticed this, but if the cpu shots and you swtich off or try to box out, that shots going to go inmost of the time. it just seems so scripted its not funny.
If the game was really scripted, difficulty levels wouldn't matter, we would all get these close games. For me, I switched from All-Star to Superstar sim because I was winning to much on All-Star, and now I find the game really hard and have to really make adjustments to keep games close.

        A couple things :

--If you are not covering a killer 3 point shooter, give them a little space. You are often better off letting the CPU shoot the long jumper than playing too close and letting them get by you.

--Anticipate CPU picks and either move around them or switch manually. Again, err on the side of giving the ballhandler space and not getting picked rather than play tight, get caught in the pick, and give up an easy layup.

--If you are shooting a long 2 or 3, either switch for the rebound or move your player back toward the opponent's basket to stop a potential fastbreak on a miss. A lot of times on a fastbreak I am standing there like an idiot watching my shot instead of moving my controlled player in position.

--Likewise, adjust your crash boards tendencies if breaks keep being a problem.

--Pick and fade instead of pick and roll. I play with the Bulls, and I can really get a lot of open looks with Gasol and Mirotic by running the fade instead of the roll. If the CPU follows your ballhandler on P&R, try a fade and shoot the open jumper.

In most cases, when I'm getting beaten badly, it's because I am being lazy and not playing in control. Sometimes you have bad games or the CPU goes off, but most of the time for me the game is close and it comes down to whether I executed as well as I should have. I am sure that the CPU's miracle shots are no more frequent than my D-grade jumpers that sink as the clock expires. I just tend to remember the CPU shots and forget my own!

          Re: Not suppose to win

I can understand people being sick of these threads...and I'll be the first to admit I'm not great at this game...usually get 2 or at most 3 games in a week.

These games happen to me though. Just played the sad Nets in year two of a franchise and they were unbeatable. With 10 minutes left I was so frustrated I turned close, mid and 3 point shots to Zero for the Cpu and they out scored me!!! I missed layups and they went on and offensive rebounding streak and made layups and foul shots.

These games are rare and there are obviously nights in the real NBA when teams just play lights out...it is just hard to play though.

            Re: Not suppose to win

I do agree that some possessions are scripted because the CPU "has to score" (i.e. offensive rebounds, shots blocked o passes deflected with the ball going straight in the hands of the CPU, etc etc).

Over the whole game, if you are losing and you feel that the game is scripted, you have to give a "sign" to the CPU: change defensive assignments and matchups, play some zone D, change your POEs, change your offensive formation, etc etc.

If you keep playing the same you have not a signle chanche of break CPU "rythm"

              Yeah I hear you.
Mind you, this is my first NBA game so I've still got my training wheels on (Rookie & Casual).
When things don't go my way it's good to know I can always rage against the machine.
Maybe I'll get better with practice. Maybe I should pick a decent team (I'm currently Toronto).
Bottom line, comeback code is an accusation most, if not all, sports games have thrown at them.

The thing about it is, those games happen in real life. All 3 major Pro sports have them. Ask the Giants when the Eagles came back and Jackson returned the punt to win it. Ask Kentucky about Laettner. Ask the Bartman playoff Cubs. Weird losses and comebacks happen and even the worst teams are still a roster full of Professional ballers. The best of their collective college contemporaries. All of then are good. Some are just great

                  Re: Not suppose to win

                  To the OP.

You should upload a video of your games, specially the parts where you believe the CPU starts their run. Some guys here will analyze your vid and help you with whatever you need to step up your game.

I do believe that your CPU players are not that great when it comes to defense, so you should try to play on ball defense most of the time, if you're not that good, then play off ball but you will need to help your teammates more often, because a good player will kill your CPU defender most of the time. I suggest you to check out itchyroll_51 videos, he's got some tips for playing good D and setting up your defense for your teammates. In my opinion, if you want to play good D all game, you'll need to cheese a little.

I wont guarantee that you wont ever be seeing 2K BS again, but it will improve your D.

Also play with the 2K camera, it's better for reading the game.

                    Re: Not suppose to win

Just finished playing a game with the Blazers vs the Hawks...dominated the entire first 3 quarters...just to end up shooting 4 of 21 in the 4th while the CPU shot 17 of 23. I called Timeout...slowed it down...EVERYTHING. and to boot Kyle Kover in the last 1:40 hit two count'em TWO 3pt baskets +foul while I drive with contact and get nothing! All I can do is shake my head and turn off the game after the buzzer. I'm all for variety in bball games but THIS loss felt cheap.

I dont...all I can say is that I felt helpless...lol NOTHING I did seemed to work they just couldnt miss...atleast I was able to hit my buzzer beater 3 at the end of the game to pull within 2....

Dont worry the rematch is coming TONIGHT with ME being at home( which I believe plays a factor imo)

                          Re: Not suppose to win

Man I was skeptical about this at first whenever people would come to OS and say that the game was scripted or 2k cheated them out the game, but I finally experienced one of these weird games people here were talking about.

It happened in the myleague playoffs I'm the 1 seed Bulls and i'm going against the 8th seed Heat (no Bosh). I destroyed the Heat in the first game on HOF CPU, I have beaten every good team in the league atleast once (Cavs, Warriors, Spurs, Rockets, etc), so I've experienced my fair share of HOF CPU cheese that is expected, which I do not mind that much. I win a majority of Human played games.

But this game was on another level of cheesing I could see why some would see say its scripted.

It was Game 2 of the Bulls-Heat, the game started off fishy in that one the first three possessions, the heat deflected and stole passes. They kept getting turnovers and raced out to a 12-2 lead. Throughout the game they were leading whenever I made a run, they would go on runs. It seemed like the CPU would go on runs the entire game. Dragic/Wade kept making contested shots (especially Dragic). The CPU kept spamming the paint and making shots. I checked multiple times to check my POE to make sure protect the paint was selected, it was. I also tried Jimmy Butler on Wade or Dragic, but they kept finishing in the paint with ease. Its not even them two, bench players like Henry Walker were making contested threes, Whiteside was playing the game of his life. And the foul calls went heavily in favor of Heat, contact in the paint was almost always a foul for the Heat, but the Bulls could not get the same calls.

I was so pissed about the game, I went ahead and played Game 3 which I destroyed them again which I also did in Game 1. I think it can be established that in this myleague franchise The Bulls are better than the Heat it is not an even match up especially with Bosh out.

I don't know if 2K is adjusting to the mean, because in Games 1 and 3, I'm holding Dragic to 4/17 shooting and 7/18 shooting, Whiteside is a non factor in games 1,3 and their bench players played like their low ratings in the majority of the series. Also the foul calls were about even in games 1 and 3.

Fatigue can't be a factor because game 1 was a blow out and starters didn't play that much. If I just wasn't good at the game that wouldn't explain me blowing them out in games 1 and 3 or winning the majority of the games I play.

I don't know if the game just supercharged the Heat to replicate the ups and downs of an NBA season or playoff series, but the entire game 2 was weird.
