Re: Green Releases Much Rarer in NBA 2K16, No Longer 100%
I bet that someone has already suggested that but:
What about a system where green release only means player can make a shot only at max of his real %?
For example (not actual statistics) - Lebron James - top left 3pt area:
- hit 70.2 % of uncontested shots
- hit 12,5 % of contested shots
The green release for Lebron James in this area only means, that he will hit in 70.2 % when uncontested and only 12.5% if the shot is contested. Maybe we could break down uncontested/contested shots even further... for example:
Green Release:
- hit 70.2% when uncontested
- hit 27.6 % when lightly contested
- hit 12,5 % when contested
Yellow Release (slightly early/late):
- hit 33.4% when uncontested
- hit 15.6% when lightly contested
- hit 5.5% when contested
Red Release (very early/late):
- hit 8.5% when uncontested
- hit 1.5% when lightly contested
- hit 0.05% when contested
I think that with such a system we will have a good compromise between user skills and realistic shooting percentage. In order to compete you will have to learn player shooting release, but also you can't except to make trees after threes with green releases with Deandre Jordan...
Just my 5 cents...Comment

I rather have a whole new shot meter. The shot meter is inconsistent and seems out of sync at times.Comment

turning it off and learning shot forms were the true way to shoot. People are now spoiled after patch 4 and easy mid shooting green releasesComment

Re: Green Releases Much Rarer in NBA 2K16, No Longer 100%
This is EXCELLENT NEWS. Perfect releases always going in took away some of the excitement of the game. Games became routine and nothing but a shot meter mini game instead of REAL BASKETBALL.
Even though a shot was released perfectly and it feels good, doesn't mean the shot will always go in.
I just hope they keep it like this for the whole year and don't crack to the casuals that are complaining about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

Re: Green releases are much rarer in NBA 2K16 and also no longer 100%
There have been battles even internally over missed green releases, especially now that they're so hard to get. I really think it's an unsolvable problem. The best news I can give you is that our shots engineer has made just about every knob I use to tune shooting modifiable on the server side post release just like a roster update. So if there's something the community isn't happy with I can tweak the system and update your games without the need for a patch. So what happened with patch 4 last year will never happen again.
i was the one that bothered you about this early late last night. I want to thank you but prepare for the backlash from the kids and cheesers who think every open/excellent release should go in. Just ignore them and let people get accustomed to the game before making changes.
Always remember though, people want EVERYTHING to be easy even people here that say they dont have time to learn the game. My recommendation, tell them all to play on rookie level if they want a pick-up and play experience.Comment

As long as you are able to hit a decent amount o late contesting j's especially with lazy people on defense. I have a problem with a good J with a lot of blue then suddenly shrinking because of the overrated closing speed. A lot of the Guys would not be good defenders and close out late and the shot still would miss after d to get open. In the NBA you don't always get alot of space and Jumpers go in. Either the close out speed needs to change, or the percentage of LATE CONTESED J'S NEED TO IMPROVE.NBA:ATLANTA HAWKS

Re: Green releases are much rarer in NBA 2K16 and also no longer 100%
This is our news. Cool.
Either way this was never an issue before the shot meter. Which I thought was a terrible idea when I heard it. They should just get rid of it honestly. No shot should be guaranteed.
Sidenote: I got a green release from the side baseline once. It hit the side of the back board & the meter went from green to not being filled. Probably the funniest thing I've seen all year I've been playing.
But, carry on...Comment

I'm sure he agrees with you there. He didn't say that being open was the only thing that mattered. I'm going to guess that like a lot of us, myself included, he believes that of the 4 things you listed, shot release should be last on the list, way last.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Great. So in other words they are hurting skilled players and playing towards the casuals who don't want to take the time to learn jumpshots.
Real nice 2k.Comment
