Re: Will blocking shots be improved in 2K16?

After 2K11, 2k seemed to start working on making things more organic at the rim...2K12/13 were bumpy rides in that process...

While it was a fun game defensively, 2K11 relied on some pretty heavy 2 man animations, which every one claimed to want to get rid of...on ball defense was boosted by a lot of suction and 'bumping'...but it all came together well to create a fun defensive experience...because it simply wasn't easy to score the ball in that game against someone who knew what they were doing.

I think last gen 2K14 was a breakthrough as far as finding a balance...hopefully we can recapture some of that in 2K16...

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. 2k14 last gen is underrated and got A LOT right.

I remember on 2k14 ps3 my cousin picked Jordan, so i picked the wilt chamberlain Lakers to defend the inevitable drives.

8 blocks i had, it was glorious.

I could help from the weak-side, bait him into drives, and my timing was rewarded. Try that now and i will get the most frustrating outcomes imaginable.

a litmus test i do for blocking EVERY year is to take a prolific shot-blocker into one on one against a guard. I back away to the block just outside the paint, let them drive and then go for the swat. Since the cpu doesn't use square to alter layups and there are no high arching ones, it should be like volleyball practice out there. Unfortunately for next gen it's revealed a lot of flaws.

We need a lot more of these animations. Especially when people force the ball inside with bad finshers.Bill Russell Blocks sends LeBron packing

Er, I get plenty of blocks and block animations.

Re: Will blocking shots be improved in 2K16?

Yes 2K14 lastgen still had the best all-around gameplay to me.

But nextgen's blocking on 2K14 was my favorite. I averaged 14 a game with my center lol..it was kinda too much but oh well I love blocking shots.

It's one of them things to me...where I think it SHOULD be OP. Because go ahead and watch a game of NBA basketball where there's a legit shot-blocker in the paint.
The whole offensive strategy changes because even elite finishers know they're getting sent if they come in.

So if I play against a guy who continually wants to challenge my elite rim protectors what's wrong with blocking 10 of their soft layups? It's never happened in all of 15. I got to 9 a couple times but never more.
Even with all the weak layups guards try and do...half the time I whiff or get stuck in an animation.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

So easy to get a ton of blocks it's not even funny.

What really hurts blocking soft layups is the baseline animations too. You'll see a guy like Curry drive baseline and go up on Anthony Davis, but Curry will get an animation where he sort of glides across the baseline and lays it straight in and Anthony Davis glides with him but can't block it due to being caught in an animation.

                  Beautifully said and agreed.

I remember a Nuggets@Celtics game where McGee was coming off the bench and instantly had 4 blocks. Even the Boston announcers talked about how they refused to drive when McGee was in.

It's only sim that good shotblockers are OP because they simply are in real life as well. 2k should consider that and would fundamentaly change the way we have to play on the positive side.

I watch almost every Sixers game...

When we had Spencer Hawes we got killed down low every game.

Last year with Nerlens it was the complete opposite. Teams shot 3's on us like crazy but at least we had rim protection.

Clippers desperately wanted DeAndre back because they know he can defensively control the game with his shot blocking and rebounding...which in turn helps the offense.

And yea exactly, it's a god-given gift to be 7' or up and athletic...plus have timing to block shots. It really changes the whole aspect of paint play knowing there's a guy who can come from the weak side and send your layup to the 5th row.

Hopefully they've fixed it...even if there's still animations I need to be able to explode off the ground with a quick leap like a lot of big men do. They're not necessarily high leapers but they're quick, something you really don't see at all in 15.

I just want to be able to stuff dunks. If I'm going to get sucked into an animation, at least let me have a chance of blocking the dunk

I felt so unrewarded on defense as a whole this year really took a lot out of the game experience for me . When I did block the shot or tipped a pass it goes right back to the offense.

2 things: if I don't jump , don't force me into a jump animation. If I do jump don't make me fall over or delay my reaction. Also if I attempt a steal I don't have to lunge completely out of the play

You whiner kids are garbage at this game if you can't block shots or layups/dunks.

Seems like the most probable way to ensure a block is a heavy swat with RT + Y like this:

                                https://vid.me/S7UQ

Problem is plays like this. RW simply lost the ball here, it wasn't a block but should have been....squared this up perfectly

                                https://vid.me/fj0f

If I would've pressed 'Y' by itself I bet I would've jumped be complete opposite way or been moved back
