Let's just hope his physical ability is lowered that's all that matters to me
If any other Laker is over 77, I'll be stunned. Can't wait to use them though, in games it's so much more interesting to me when you have to build your team up from the bottom.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Louis Williams or Hibbert could be an 80

Not necessarily "punishing" him, it's just with 2K doing this "all time" scaling or whatever it is, his rating is likely going to be lower than most of all of the other big named legends.

I know he wasn't at his peak/best in the finals, but arguably no other player could put up 36/13/8 while playing under their norm in today's slower pace. Much less without their sidekick, alternate sidekick, and against the best team in the league. While leading both teams in points, rebounds, and assists... Idk I can just see the older guys going up, while some current guys are punished due to this likely over exaggerated new ratings system.

Just for comparison sake, Jordan in the finals against Seattle had a poor shooting series in the finals. Averaged 27/5/4 against a team that wasn't on par to this GS team, in a higher stat paced era, at a point in his career where he was a little past his athletic prime as well playing on the best team in the league.. I guarantee he's still a 99 for that season.

Likewise a good 3 point shooter from the 80's will likely have a higher scaled 3 point shot than someone from today with a slightly lower percentage from outside, even though they had about 3-5 extra feet of free room any time they had an outside look.

Idk, I just think this ratings system in general is going to hurt the more current players while bolstering the "legends" without considering all variables.

All things considered it's not a big deal I know, I just wish if 2K was really going to separate the past legends from other guys that they should do the same with current ones. I mean Durant is barely better than Kobe.

How is 30+ pts 10+ rebounds & 7+ assists not a good showing bra? Lol smh...

Considering he had 0 offensive options and actually won 2 and could have been 7 games if 1 shot falls.

Kobe with a 85 is great.

Tuesday we are almost 3 weeks from the release away .. I hope we get big Bombs the next weeks not just screenshots . I'm not really happy with the few news we get and the game comes also 11 days earlier than last year. I'm not hating but it's a fact

The fact LeBron James had an overall decline while Kobe Bryant remains an 85 cements for me the fact I will not be buying this game until a month after release. There is no way for anyone to rationalize it without just boiling their statement down to "I'm a Kobe Bryant fan and I want Kobe to remain one of the best in the league."

I'm going to hold off until I see a roster come out that makes sense.

Yeah like if LeBron is a 94 & peak Jordan is 99 then what is a prime Lakers Kobe rating? What will Heat LeBron be rated?

What about Larry Bird? Offensively good. Great shooter. Good team defender but not so good 1 on 1. What is Magic's rating? Great all around PG. Scoring threat but would rather pass. What's Scottie Pippen if LeBron is a 94 & Kobe old is an 85?

I'm curious. Is 2k saying LeBron's production dropped? Then what is Kevin Love's rating? Kobe definitely isn't an 85 in today's NBA. If he's an 85 what is Paul Pierce? He actually finished a season & made Washington a playoff contender. Would have been in the EC finals if Wall doesn't break his hand. If he's lower than Kobe I gotta say there's some in house love for him. What is Westbrook & Harden if Kobe is an 85? Strong 90 at least but KD is a 91...Westbrook's season stats were better than Harden's, Durant (best healthy season) & Curry's last year lol...

If they're going by HOF/advanced stats LeBrons FG% is one of the highest inside the paint for a guy who basically is a point guard in a forwards body. How did he drop that much in rating vs Kobe who didn't move at all.

Numerical ratings don't matter that much to me but there seems to be no consistency. So I'm questioning where these numbers come from?

He played 1200 minutes which is a plenty large sample (more than Hassan Whiteside, for example). It's 300 less than Derrick Rose, unless of course you're advocating we ignore Rose's ****ty performance as well.

Also remember, Kobe in game won't be dealing with injuries like he was in real life last season.
LOL, yes he will be, he is 37.

I think you guys are also forgetting... Rose started 2K15 with an 88 overall after averaging 15 and 4 on 35% shooting the season before. Obviously those numbers don't warrant that high of a rating but what he did the previous season as well as what he can do while healthy goes into the rating at the start of the season.
Rose played 300 minutes (10 games) the season before, the key difference (Kobe was likewise hot garbage in his 6 game 2014 season and didn't have his rating touched). There is basically no difference between Rose/Kobe's situations over the last two years.

Kobe continues to get high ratings because there are casual clowns out there (that 2K doesn't want to piss off) who seriously think he is still on par with the likes of Jimmy Butler and Klay Thompson when the reality is he is a rich man's Evan Turner at this point.

                          1. LeBron James 94 (-2)

                          C.J. McCollum 72 (+2)
                          19. Kyle Anderson 71 (+1)
                          20. Spencer Dinwiddie 70 (+3)
                          Shane Larkin 70 (-1)
                          22. Quincy Acy 69 (-3)
                          Pierre Jackson 69 (-)
                          Perry Jones 69 (-3)
                          The real story:
                          PGs: +4 (+0.4 average)
                          SGs: +3 (+0.6 average)
                          SFs: -4 (-0.8 average)
                          PFs: -13 (-2.6 average)
                          Cs: -8 (-1.6 average)

2K's OVR formula for each position is still trash, to put it mildly. They can revamp the "rating scale" all they want, it doesn't change the fundamental flaw of the 2K rosters. PGs have been wildly overrated compared to stretch fours and non-post bigs for ONLY the last 15 years and yet the gap is somehow getting WIDER.

I think when people complain about ratings it's more about the online aspect of the game, or the overall state of the game... Think about it, if 2k said "We love 3pt shooting, everyone got a 99 in 3pt shooting" sure we could edit it, but the point still stands that they messed up, and also online would be stupid to play.

Always love seeing how people react to the ovr. Things like Kobe should be around 82 instead of 85. We don't even have his full ratings to know where he is overrated. 2k, much like us, have no idea how Kobe will perform this season and it seems like they are given him a bit of the benefit of the doubt.

Last year they were very consistent on roster updates and weren't afraid to increase or decrease a player's attributes where they saw fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kobe, or anyone elses, ovr adjusted within the first couple weeks of the season. If you can't wait that long you can always adjust the ratings yourself.
