So....2k tried to make it out like people were getting the game early on the 25th, but judging from all these early copies, in reality they pushed the release date from tuesday to 3 days later for pre-orders and made everyone else wait a week longer.

Not really. People always get it ahead of time. Usually mom and pop stores or relatives working in game stores etc. Happens every year.

What i'm saying is, the rate that people are getting early copies is the same rate they get them the weekend before the Tuesday the game usually comes out. In other words, I'm 99% certain that this Tuesday every store will have copies of the game on the premise.....but won't sell them till friday.

So we were told we're getting the game early, when in fact relative to the time the games were shipped, we're actually getting it late.

I used to work at Gamestop. We usually got them the week before the release. Since they're doing an early release Friday, most stores should have their stock.

I don't know why people act like the games arrive the day before release.

I get what you are saying, you think they that just moved the release date back. Which is wrong they didn't. If anything they pushed it up a week. I say this because last year 2K15 came out on October 7th. 2K14 was October 1. NBA 2K13 was October 2. So in all actuality last year (2K15) the game was pushed back a week and this year it's back to it's regular release date.

Correct you're looking at it from the general date it was released. i'm looking at it from the point of the time the physical disc arrived in store to the time it goes on sale...which in this case is looking like it's longer than it was last year.

If the game is in the store why do we have to wait an extra 4-7 days for them to sell it? But in the digital age, that's old thinking and there's more to consider

I don't think you get the point. Games always arrive in stores about a week or so before going on sale. Always.

This is no different than any other year.

In fact it's MUCH earlier than normal. 2k is usually late in the first week or early in the second week of October.

My knowledge might be outdated, it's been a while since I've been in or knew people in the business. But as far as I can tell Games, Music, and Audio still almost always go on sale Tuesday. The shipments for those items (physical copies) usually arrive in store sometime between Thursday through Monday prior to release date.

Based on the frequency of copies that are popping up over the last 2 days, NBA 2k16 is being shipped out like it's supposed to come out on Tuesday, similar to FIFA 16. 2k16's physical copies could be arriving in the same trucks that 2k16 are. Only difference is on tuesday FIFA will be out on showcase for sale, and 2k16 will be in the back of the store. And that's the part that's messing with me.

But again, that's old thinking. The disc is getting more and more meaningless in today's age.

A guy literally just told you he worked in game stop and the games arrived a full week before release.

And I've received games from online stores a week early before.

As someone who works in a store that sells video games, we get the games a few days up to a week before the date. As sometimes issues can happen with deliveries, the aim is to avoid not having the game in store in time for the release date, which of course is particularly important for big releases.

So often I get to stare at a game I want, but in my store, the tills block you from selling the product before the date lol

Dont be surprised in the near future, if companies ever wanted to push us towards digital(Which if your internet speed is fast enough, why not) they start releasing the digital version of the game right when it goes gold. Retail copies still come out on the regular date
