I'm a fan of the caps, but I see why a lot of people wouldn't be. For me though, basketball is more fun when you have different players, with various strengths and weaknesses, fitting together to make a team that's better than the sum of its parts. Being a basketball God and doing everything yourself just isn't as interesting or fun to me.

It would've been nice if people could have turned the caps off for offline play though. That way, people who enjoy making an unstoppable force and taking over a game themselves would have still had an option for it.

Why can't we make a player that already exists in real life?

Kevin Durant is a 38% career three point shooter. I am guessing that if you make a 6'11" PF with maxed shooting at 75 and you avoid taking heavily contested shots, you can probably shoot 40% or higher with the rating caps in place, even on HOF sim. If the caps were higher, then the sim starts to go away.

Height is a big advantage in the game. Lower ratings help balance that out.

I think that's your perception. Park is one of the most played modes in the game and being a legend 3 I played thousands of games without significant lag. I think you're right in there should be a different cap for offline but park should also be accommodated with the caps.

Oh yeah, seeing these screenshots really have me thinking they're soft caps. The way it seems like it caps is to prevent people from buying their way to victory. Gonna have to use the drills to improve further.

Count me as being on board. Hopefully Park and Pro-Am will see some variety and be a little more of a chess match between players this year. It got so old playing teams of three 7-ft, do-everything SFs last season. I haven't played a Park game in 2K15 since January for that very reason. It was just the same thing over and over it seemed like.

Also note that there are only 55 upgrades available out of the gate. 2k15 had 80 to start with and 100 total available.

Pure speculation here, but my guess is that you get additional upgrades through playing games, but you can unlock them faster through practice. If so, this would mean that 1) practice does not upgrade attributes, but unlocks additional slots to VC on to increase attributes, and 2) the caps we see are hard caps that you can only upgrade with boosts and equipment.

There are actually 75 he just had 20 selected if you look closely. Same as last year
