The issue that has been in since launch (metallic material reverting to rubber on the shoe) which applies to all shoes isn't the same as this one where even when things are set to rubber, they still appear shiny.. It's an issue with scanned shoes and is honestly just laziness. The shoes have just been scanned in, made the color panels editable and then nothing else, without applying the material shaders. They're using default shaders of whatever is on the shoe that was scanned.

I wouldn't call it laziness. They materials look nice imo. For example I made Raptor 7's and the suede for the looks nice. I also made the raging bull 5's and the Red suede is almost identical to the real life shoes. But that's just me lol

Re: OS NBA 2K16 Shoe Vault - Discussion
Here's what the problem is I think. When they scan the shoe versus how 2k use to previously do it, the scan is off that model and colorway so if you have shiny foamposite you can't have suede foamposite unless the scan the suede foamposite, I believe every colorway has to be scanned if they have different materials. The foamposite is one shoe they have run into this issue with. The Jordan 11 for instance is good because all the colorways are the same materials, the christmas 72-10 sneaker will need a new scan because it has different materials from existing models, I wouldn't call this laziness but more an oversight, they need a dedicated shoe guy like myself to handle this situation. SeanBarkley is pretty thorough as well.
On another note, they need to fix the crazy light boost 2015s tried to make James hardens or but the logo on the tongue is linked to the collar so can't change the color.

You're exactly right about it only using the materials of the one they scanned with. But if that's going to be the case going forward, they either need to have the material change option actually work, or take it out altogether.. I made 3 different foamposites for testing, the only difference being changing every single layer on them to Rubber on pair 1, Suede on pair 2, Shiny Plastic on pair 3.. All 3 pairs looked exactly the same in game because of what you just said. If the material changing isn't going to be reflected in game, the option should be disabled.Comment

I disagree, only because making custom shoes for career/park/pro-am is my favorite thing to do in the game.Comment

I respect that and your entitled to feel that way, I play nothing but play now and association modes. I must ask tho why making shoes is your favorite thing to do rather then playing the game?Comment

Re: OS NBA 2K16 Shoe Vault - Discussion
As has been suggested before, they just need a program where sneaker heads can send in shoes to be scanned in the game. Most of the posts in this thread are about colorways that already exist.

That word again, "sneaker head", I don't like this idea at all. I bet it's easier for 2k to get the shoes then for random "sneaker heads" to get their shoes to 2k site.Comment

You're missing his point.
He wants his player to rock his OWN PEs, his OWN creations, not the same Breds, not the same color ways, not the same shoes.
He and what I want is ORIGINALITY. I could care less about scanned shoes, I want an improved shoe editor and shoe creator.
The point of the shoe creator was to fill the gap that 2K didn't fill with missing shoes and original creations and now with these scanned shoes, people are spoiled now cause obviously they made shoes and some inferior looking to others.
If you looked from 2K13-15, we were making shoes that looked amazing, we made shoes that looked like in game models and now with these scanned shoes, and no care for the creator, it's a shame.

Not missing the point, I understand and appreciate his point but I have the opposite point of view on this, I want more scanned shoes and less editing and less shoe creator ideas, I mean I've seen these threads since day one and I don't see the creativity or originality from it, the guys who create shoes don't look good to me but that's only my opinion.
That's because scanned shoes made everybody spoiled and the creator is broken and is not cared for.
I guarantee you if 2K asked me and a couple guys on how to improve the shoe creator and editor, we wouldn't EVEN NEED to scan shoes.
