Yes, I agree! The on the fly substitution menu is HORRIBLE! I hate to say something negative that strongly, but it can be enraging and frustrating. The icons aren't even consistent (r stick direction), I can barely see which direction they are indicating, and the dang thing screen will disappear too fast if it takes me too long to figure it out. I used to be able to make all the subs I wanted during or before a FT. Now I can barely get one, if I don't mess that up?!? Just not intuitive at all. I miss the old way very much.

    Here's a compromise I would suggest:

Let me pull up the menu the same and then scroll up and down to the position (PG through C) to the position I want to sub with the R stick, and cycle through available subs with the right stick (Left to Right) somehow? I really think up/down for position and cycling left/right would provide the most efficient results.

I'd imagine if we did a poll on it, it would be at least 80% would strongly dislike this thing.

It's harder to score in the post. That's for sure. But, I've had more success by being patient. If you just try to spin move and hook, you're going to miss the shot or have it rejected.

Gotta get the big men to commit or get yourself into a dominant position.

Also mismatches seem to be huge. Remember, defense matters more this year so if you're up against a good defensive big man, you're probably going to lose the battle more times than not.

I think the improvements to the gameplay are noticeable, but there are some things that still need adjustments: the spacing is still off at times and I had some players right under the basket trying to pass the ball outside. The thing I really don't like is the Spike Lee story: it's a lot of useless cutscenes that don't lead to anything and we have no option to make our own choices (I really wanted to play college at least 2 years). If you create an Asian or white player they should've changed the family as a whole...it's really weird having a black sister when you are a completely different skin color. Some of the dialogues are really cheesy. In general I liked the feel of last year's MC. It's also a pain to have to play online 8 games in your first season and being not able to interact with your agent or owner (I really wanna tell Vic to go **** himself, but you don't have any decisional power over the story).

          Love, love, loving this game!

          Played four games so far:

Lost as Kings to the Lakers (just learning new controls)

Won as 2002 Mavs vs 2001 Sixers (Iverson went off, Dirk hit a couple of post up fadeaways to seal it)

Won as Old Timerwolves (Garnett and Cassell) vs Old Pistons (Billups, Hamilton, etc)

As the Warriors, Lost in Double-OT @ the Blazers. Lillard went off with a double-double.

The game plays terrifically, there were very, very, few head-scratching moments. Great game though, they deserve a lot of praise.

I'm playing as the cavs against the warriors, was down 12 in the second battled back and finally tied it in the third midway through. I feel like I'm really slowing curry down with shump and delly, I hid kyrie on Harrison barnes seems to work so far. I took a break from the game to take a phone call and I wsa jus looking through the stats, and like I said 2 mins lift in the 3rd tied 70-70 feeling like I took steph out, he only has 6 points, buttttttt 15 assists. All my pressure on him has led to him tearing me up in another way. Have to appreciate that I'm trying to take away his scoring and like a true star is finding another way to stay competitive and hurt me

I wholeheartedly disagree with those that don't like the new OTF Sub Menu. I think it's great, and after a week or 2 of getting used to it, I think a majority will come to the same conclusion. I'm pretty sure the players location in regards to the RS is fixed, so once you get comfortable with it and learn which player is where, you'll be able to sub players in without even looking at the menu.

Also, with it moved from the D-Pad to the RS, you never have to take your thumb off the LS, so your player isn't standing around looking like an idiot while you're trying to find who you wanna sub out/in. This is just that disease of new, where something has been the same for so long, that we're so used to it, and a change is met with negativity. Give it some time, and I bet ppl are gonna love it in the end.

So second game again pro sim and I lost by 31. I was only down by 4 at half time but got killed in the second half and Thunder ended the game with 76 points in the paint. Yes 76 you heard me! Also having a hard time figuring out the Pick and rule controls this year. I have always felt like the controls in 2k are overly complex and this year no different.

I hate it but I also remember hating last years too at first. Most of us just got used to it so change generally is met with some uneasiness.

Disappointed in other areas, especially the CAP. All of that customization that you have in creating a team, court, and layering tattoos did not rub off on CAP. Still can't add tattoos. Once you add a CAP to a roster and start say MyGM or MyLeague you can't edit his face or his facial and hair style (this would be great to do to correct the alien looking players in the incoming draft classes). Plus, adding weight to a player in CAP should be noticeable. It still isn't. Should be able to choose different body types in CAP, still can't. Actually they removed the ability to choose "ripped", "average", and so forth. More body adjusting sliders like 2K1 or 2K2 had. Should also be able to choose uniform fit. Basically, if you don't play MyPlayer, then 2K doesn't really care about you. Should be able to create a team and court/arena outside of a game mode also.

Something is still weird about the player models. I don't think they are as good as they can be. Can't quite put my finger on it. Still improved though.

How do you select the team colored Stance socks, or they randomly select them for you?
Yeah I've noticed they really don't care about CAP, I end up just sorta creating myself through draft classes, at least I can have a couple tattoos.

I've been reading these impressions so much I was ready for the new control config. I actually really like the new controls. Holding LT to post up is actually much better..Youre not locked in, just let go of LT and you're able to back out of it. The passing is soo much better. I hated the sluggish overhead pass that would disrupt the offense last year. Game is just more fun, and feels right. The movement, the rebounding seems much better too. Rodman, Whiteside, and Love are all over the boards.

I really didnt like last years game. This year the players just look so awesome..when they start sweating, and the shoes! I know Im rambling, but its just a great looking, fun game. Legends are fun again to play with. The shooting animations are just sooo good. Durant is one of my favorite player models in the game, just spot on. I only played last years game for a couple of weeks, Im mainly a FIFA guy, but this game will actually get more action than FIFA this year. Good job 2K..just a great game overall.

Now if we can just tweak some of the legends..maybe get Sheed in the game...that would be great.

After playing about 12 12 minutes game games this game is definitely harder than last year.

I have been playing on All-Star Sim because going into scrimmage I could clearly see that this was harder than last year. I don't think I will move up until I can blow the CPU out.

                        • The CPU's on ball defense is on 2K11's slightly unrealistic with the bumps but can be broken at times with a sizeup then just driving on an angle.
                        • I have lost 2 games in OT and just won a 2 OT game Miami me vs. Raptors
                        • The CPU game is on another level here the adjustments are just crazy how they double and rotate.
                        • The animations emotions in the game are just crazy.
                        • Blocking is insane this very, very nice

The only cons is the CPU passing in the paint. I hope the gameplay team adjusts the passing in the paint by the CPU. Am I the only one that has AI teammates missing their man and the CPU throws it to them for an easy score on the backdoor cut. The funny thing is 2K15 out of the box had the same issue. What I am noticing is the assist are way up per game from too many situations like this.

only played 1 full game Cavs vs Bulls and lost 102-107

and while this score doesnt show it. i LOVE the new defense.

Yes i was torched more times than i am used to but it was fair. I missed rotations and bang Rose or Butler scored on me most times.

But thats great! Because the game also rewards you for not quitting on plays, making smart block attemps etc. Its a great sytem of reward and punishment^^

and what i REALLY love too is the CPU beat me with real basketball. no cheating by the CPU.. no impossible nearly half court shots.. just plain solid ball while also exploiting my weaknesses on defense. Thats how its supposed to be. great

                          Overall. I am amazed.

oh and btw the Sim Engine for Myleague etc is the best its ever been. Yes as every year some tweaks where nessesary to keep Durant from averaging 9apg or to get Harden to score 25+ppg but overall the Roster right now in terms of ratings is waaaay better than its ever been at release.

Loving the gameplay and presentation in the game, but the interface and menus have to go IMO. Much prefer NBA Live's menus/interface tbh. This has been a pet peeves of mine for a few years now with 2K.

Anyone else with me on this one?

Last year definitely, love the interface this year...

I'm glad they added the extra passing controls and gave us complete control...but they dumbed down the standard pass button as far as contextual passing goes it seems...I felt it was great last year. It's a challenge, as sometimes during a drive I can't get to X & O quick enough in the heat of the moment. Guess it'll take some time to get used to...

Also there needs to be waaaay less "standing position contact fouls" and more "driving into the lane with a scorer and getting heavy contact" fouls

The MyTeam menus are awful. I just want a screen with a list of my players so I can make and edit lineups. It took me a while to figure out that replace player didn't put that player on the bench, but out of the roster and into the IR
