Hey OP, I know EXACTLY what you mean because this is one of my main tactics. And it's been used on me a lot too.
But with everything in 2k, for each tactic there is a counter. That's the beauty of the game.
HOW TO COUNTER IT
1. When the game is loading (where you choose your lineup), go into your defence settings and for the last option for Defence, choose the option to 'RUN BACK IN TRANSITION'. This means your guys won't go for offensive boards, they'll run back as soon as you take a shot. This helps with giving you guys to defend the fast break.
2. Stop taking 3's all the time. If they like fast breaking, either:
- do some work with your low-post player
- or drive to the basket
This slows the game down, you might draw a foul and if you miss, it's a short rebound. All of these things reduce their ability to cherry pick.
3. When taking 3's, don't do it when they expect it. I.e. when their defense is all set up and not moving.
If you drive and kick and pass and make their defense scramble, and then shoot the OPEN 3, then they're not in the best position to cherry pick.
And if you're wide open, you're also more likely to make it.
4. Lastly, if they are anticipating for your three, fake the shot and drive.
I love this game and play plenty of online matches. Hope these tips help you! Let me know if you guys have any other ideas!
