2k7 signatures package litteraly blow my mind at the time.
After a few days of intense gaming, i can say that 2k16 will mark os as 2k7 and 2 k11 did back in those days.

When I think about 2k's impact on sports gaming in general I feel like there is no right answer that covers everything however one sticks out like a sore thumb more than any:

SIGNATURE SHOTS/ANIMATIONS/SHOTSTICK: This was truly the beginning of us coming away from X to pass and O to shoot in simplicity and finally have a chance to play the game of basketball in a more complex way. This opened up the idea that players/teams HAVE TO PLAY like there real life counterparts as the STANDARD for any sports game. Playing 5 games in 2k16 knowing you will have a different experience with each team you play as and against then try and do the same for NHL16 and NOT HAVE THAT EXPERIENCE it makes it unplayable.

It's gotta be IsoMotion and how that transformed into the pro stick and shot stick that we know today. It's really the best possible control scheme for a basketball game and I honestly challenge someone to come up with something better.

Other than that, MyCareer has to get an honorable mention. MyCareer and Road to the Show are the definitive career experiences in sports gaming and MyCareer has moved a ton of copies of the game. There's even an entire YouTube subculture devoted to MyCareer and there's 2 more game modes that revolve around it. Honestly a revolutionary game mode for 2K.

The Jordan Challenge was had to be the best novelty mode in any game. myCareer and the Association really revolutionized this series and made it stand out. But I do think the custom jumpshots really, most definitely, changes sports gaming with customization. It's the most important feature they added, yet so simple and somewhat taken for granted

I'd have to go Association mode, even though there have been some great features over the years. MyCareer seems to be the most popular so maybe that's the right answer.

The best part about when they improve association mode they improve MyCareer by default.

The first game with a win-win for both sides of the offline player field.

gotta admit you guys are telling the truth. i forgot all about that. that isomotion/shot stick thing revolutionized the game. pure and simple

now the question is this, did it come before you could do juke moves using the right stick in madden/ncaa football?

and to answer your question about who has done a better setup? i would save nba elite. i know, i know. terrible game. but those controls..... dem controls..... Whoooooo. By far the most realistic of any basketball game ever. they were so realistic, they scrapped them due to people complaining about how difficult it was to make shots. when the top half of the circle on your right stick was meant for shooting/layups. it doesnt get any more realistic then that.

the fact they had you using your left stick purely for your feet(no dribble moves, no crossovers..nothing. just movement), and your right stick was your hands/arms. if you push your left stick left to right. it would move your guy left to right but whatever hand the ball was in when you started moving it would stay in that hand. only once you hit the right stick left or your would it cross over. you could control how deep the cross was to or how hard you crossed. that was next next level upgrade from iso motion if you ask me. the only issue i have ever had with the shotstick and iso motion is how you have crossovers linked to both sticks. that creates a situation where you want to move one way but not cross over or you want to do a different cross . but since its difficult to sense your moving and crossing with one stick. then trying to hit the right stick on time is difficult to get it to do exactly what you want it to do every single time. ol well. it is..what it is. iso motion was still revolutionary and a game changer.

I have never played my career and probably never will. I`m in for the game of basketball and for what the sport represents in real life. I don`t care for some sci-fic basketball videogame movies involving characters that come from nowhere and will become a legend in the game. That is just silly. It should appeal for the children in my opinion.

Some people like to play as themselves and no it just doesn't appeal to the kids. Adults love it too. My Teams or whatever its called seems more appealing for the kids in my opinion.
