Can't really agree with all of this....

2K11 balanced blocking pretty well, I've heard a couple of people consider it the most balanced it has been...

2K12 was the live ball debacle that "everyone wants, but doesn't REALLY want" lol. There wasn't so much too much blocking as face, elbow, forearms knocking the ball loose.

2K13/2K15 was blocking at its worst

2K14 was similar to 2K16 pre patch

2K16's post patch is actually pretty damn good- despite my above complaint...those chase downs by guys who guys who aren't supposed to be chasing down aren't happening, but you can still defend rim. I feel like there's a good balance.

I can't even comprehend why folks would want it nerfed at this point...

People remember 2k11 through rose-tinted glasses. I remember a CRAPTON of topics and videos of people complaining about barely being able to block on 2k11 with the ball phasing through limbs, which is why blocking became so prevalent on 2k12.

2k16's was better pre-patch to me, because if you were reckless, you paid for it. With the patch, people have much more freedom with being reckless when driving, and the ball tracking became worse, IMO. It's kind of bad that I can now drive pretty much at will with my OUTSIDE scorer, and score at a decently high rate without worrying too much about getting blocked.

Exactly. Certain players whined because they couldn't play how they wanted. Proven successful tactics they had hard times stopping.

Blocking still isn't right. Now it's just easier to spam the paint. Lol, we always find a way to play.

I keep seeing blocks happen where the hand doesn't even touch the ball.

I've also seen 3/4 blks in a few games where the defender reaches through the body to block the ball.

I don't think 2k currently possesses the ability to 'balance' blocking. Think about it. The blocking, or lack thereof, goes one way or another every other year.



2k11, not enough blocking, ball goes through hands

2k12, too much blocking

2k13, not enough blocking, ball goes through hands, can't block dunks

2k14, too much blocking

2k15, not enough blocking, ball goes through hands, forcefields

2k16, too much blocking, patch: forcefields, players unaware of ball location



What do you suppose will happen next year, if the pattern holds true?

Disagree with 2K11. I loved the blocking on there. I believe the blocks were just right. The only issue I kind of had w/ 2K11s blocking was the animations you'd get in. Like I would be on a fast break for a layup or dunk and sometimes you'd go into a animation to be blocked. Still would take the blocking on there over all.

definitely agree. players with blocking badge and/or high block rating should exhibit blocking abilities. not everyone.

btw, i'm having modest success to avoid being block under the basket. mix it up with layup and dunks, reading where the defender is coming and using the appropriate hand to finish it.

I was on a break with Draymond Green and I had Melo trailing close by but I knew I was getting my dunk blocked and sure enough, Melo sent it to the stands.

I've had some success using off hand dunks in certain situations and waiting until the very last second when someone attempts a chase down. Still waiting for the patch on XB1

I was on a break with Draymond Green and I had Melo trailing close by but I knew I was getting my dunk blocked and sure enough, Melo sent it to the stands.

ok, this year he has some nice defensive plays, at least he blocked anderson varejao irl. give it to melo.

did u use turbo+LS towards basket? this will give u two handed slam with the ball infront of u which i think may make it difficult for cpu to block from behind. i usually use layup to draw and1 when i see a chasedown. if come from left i use right to finish ...

I described that scenario because I knew I was getting my dunk block regardless. I think it's bad when ur on the break and u know u are getting ur shot block. Not the fact it was Melo but the fact that the chances was extremely high and in the defense favor. When ur on the break the offense should be in favor but on this game the defense has favor unless u are to far ahead.
