Re: Sidestep before shot
Since i dont play with the shotbar or feedback i have no idea
how much it affects the shot grade.
When doing a side or forward step i really cant tell any difference
in terms of shooting percentage compared to normal jumpshots.
However, when doing the stepback my success rate is definitely
lower on these shots.
But in my opinion the players are ALWAYS too much off balance
after a stepback which isnt really the case in real basketball.
When the stepback creates an open shot it should be considred as one.
Not really rewarding even if used smart which is unfortunate.Comment

Re: Sidestep before shot
It's pretty easy to do. Stepping into the shot is how I describe how to do it. Yes you can do it after a pump fake or jab step from anywhere on the floor.PSN: ForeverVersatile

Sidestep before shot
I think from a stand still just if you hold the directional stick and shot in any direction it should work. Try back on the joystick and up on the shot stick to start. You will get a sense of what's needed to get that shot off.Comment

Re: Sidestep before shot
Doing Stepbacks while running/dribbling is another story.
(...)
Another thing to know is that every player does the steps different.
I was searching what exactly is responsible for the different step
animations and i found out it depends on which "Dribble Pull up"
animation (Normal 1, Elite 4, Bigman etc...) the player has equipped.Comment

Re: Sidestep before shot
only affects the hopshots/stepbacks while dribbling. So in this case
its "another story" because they actually have nothing to do with
these steps after catching the ball or standing still before shooting
the ball. I really think every possible shot should have its own
animation categoryComment

Re: Sidestep before shot
You can do the side step and step through when you have the ball. You don't have to do it before receiving a pass.
Hold your left stick to the right or left (absolute pro stick helps) and tap the shot button. (I like how this year it doesn't force you into not being able to dribble anymore). For a step through--hold the left stick up (again, absolute pro stick helps but otherwise hold it towards the basket) and hold the shot button until he starts his step forward and shot. You can either pump fake by releasing the shot button before he shoots or follow through with it. This is a great move for taking a step in for a J after getting your defender with a pump fake.
Additional tip: Hold the left stick towards the hoop and tap the shot button for a large leap inward a la hop jumper. This is great for turning a three into a wide open closer mid if you have the space and want an increase in shot probability.Last edited by Crookid; 10-13-2015, 10:02 AM.Check out my gaming channel YouTube.com/OffTheBrinkTV for Tips, Tricks, Tutorials, Walkthroughs and Let's Play videos!Comment
