    Re: Dribbling Mechanics Going Forward

Go back and play 2k11 and 12, with the old control scheme.

Could pull of really smooth dribble moves and straight murder people.

I used to want right stick controls for 2k, now going back, this games' dribbles were better to me.

i dont have this issue. when it happened, i knew i've input the wrong controls command. every stick action has an input to the action the ball handler makes, sometimes i entered too fast and gotta wait for the animation to complete before the next kicked in.

No, it's the length of the foot steps. In those 2 vids you can see that Steph alternates between short and very long steps, varying the pace. Mostly you see him use those long steps to get better separation from the defender on his hip and lure him into a foul while maintaining more body control.

One thing that IMO should be in 2K17 dribbling is to remove all animations from LS and just make it a directional stick. Too many times I turn baseline with ball on the outside hand and the LS input makes me cross to the right, causing turn overs.

            its not user error lol
sometimes i will do one simple crossover and it happens
its clearly in the game to help the defense

The majority of stutters come from extra input by the user

do u use the left stick to cross or the right stick? both sticks will give a different animations. the direction that u point to also plays a huge part on a successful cross all the way to the basket.

Every year you have less and less control over what you actually want to do. On-ball D broken, directional pass broken, driving broken. It's sad that people have to make tutorials on passing lol. Fact is, it's broken.

Dribbling has gone backwards. 2k11 was much, much better.

Let's be real though, 2k has 3 pages of intricate moves, and it allows users to pull 3/4ths of them off with one button.

They need to make a setting where to do anything, you have to know the move on the sticks. No just pressing square/X.

They're the only team I struggle to beat, and all they do is turbo baseline with any cav slasher or turbo anywhere with lebron. Worse of all, you can't back out so you're FORCED to play vs cavs every single time.

Yes you can. Just close the game and restart.

I'm fine with the dribbling this year. I'm not deadly with it and I only know how to do basic crossovers but that's fine because I'm not the type to isolate and do dribble moves all day.

I do wish it was easier to perform stepbacks though. It's tough to pull it off on the broadcast camera.

This. Or missed timing on a launch.

I know I'm one of the people who probably come off as someone defending this game to the death. I'm not. I get frustrated when I can pull something off, and I see a million posts on here saying it's impossible.

The game has plenty of flaws, but as 24 said earlier, a lot of the stuff is there. I sat in practice for hours to get the dribble system down, figuring out launches and the like. Everytime they change it, I do it again. I know people don't have time to figure out every little thing. But this is a super complex game with a lot of systems and mechanics running under the hood, especially now. It's not like EA's pick up and play game and to get a lot of the concepts you might have to work for it

i thought stepbacks are easier to pull off this year with the shoot button and left stick! it works considtently in the post stepback too.
