There's a difference between contesting and closing out late to alter a shot.
Its not in half-court that is having this issue, its guys pulling up and hitting 75% on transition 3s. Unfortunately the CPU transition D is awful and I can only desperately scramble a player into correct position one at a time.

Team we just played had some excellent defense and the game was solid because of it. Our defensive breakdowns were punished and so were theirs.

And this is the way it should be. Bad defense deserves to get killed, good defense deserves to have good games. I'm fine with it because it makes people think twice before wandering off their man.

It's not enough to scream "The sky is falling", but kids who cannot guard speed boosters or know how to rotate/Hedge/Play solid help D without getting out of position will get torched.

The only real concern is speed boosting. I know I can lock a booster down, but I watch guys get turned inside out by guys using it. For people that can't anticipate, I feel bad watching a slightly glitch thing break them down. I don't feel bad if you just can't defend on a basic level though.

I wish I had the time and software to do a break down on how to guard the boosters. I can get the footage, but my PC can't handle the editing.
Like I said, I don't care where they put the shooting, as long as bad defense gets cooked much more often than not.

Most speed boosters are predictable. Once you get their rhythm down, you pretty much know where they're going. And if you've got another competent perimeter defender with you, they can get mostly nullified. Personally, I don't feel bad for people who can't defend, because it's a skill that they should always look to work on and improve. If they don't take the time to do it, that's their problem.

You know, despite the fact that I feel like me and you always end up in heated debates, I really feel like I'd have a blast playing a game or two with you. A few things aside, I really think our brains work similarly when it comes to this game.

I agree 100% with this post. Defense is a skill most don't have, and honestly after having to stick Demi-Gods last year, I feel like there's not a lot you can throw at me this year that's as annoying as that.

The boosters make park boring for me, it's the same thing over and over.

Hit me up in PSN whenever. My PSN is the same name that I have on here. Always looking for good players to run with.

I've always tried to take pride in my defense, and although I'm not perfect (everyone is bound to have either off games, or have a couple defensive lapses), I try to make hell to score on me. That's why I just can't feel bad for people who get dropped off when it's mostly their own fault. The demigod thing, that was a different story, lol.

Closest thing to Park that I play is Walk-On, because 2v2 and 3v3 bore the heck out of me. When people use Park as the measuring stick for shooting, I kinda just roll my eyes. The tweaks seem to have made arena Pro-Am tolerable now, for me anyway.

The problem is that even though you guys are right about bad defense deserved to be punished, artifically increasing the success rate of 3s makes the game way more arcade then it was sold to me as. PNO is supposed to be superstar/sim and it feels like rookie/casual

It's kind of crazy I'm actually enjoying park more lately . It's pretty fun to pick up and play and not focus so much on sim .

It's something I enjoy once in a a while. I think as SIM forum guys we lose touch of that sometimes. It's a video game and your suppose to have fun.

Also got to say.... I might agree with this thread. I've been playing with the Warriors as of late. But I really have been noticing more greens as I run back on defense. ( I don't use the bar. Only free throws for certain players)

And therein lies the problem. Bad defense should be punished, but it still seems like bad offense is rewarded to an extent. The balance is still skewed towards offense primarily because 2k's majority thinks everything on offense should be automatic.

Case in point: Park high 7 steals yesterday. Guy I was guarding literally ran directly in to me, tried a dribble move, and lost it. After try 5, he says into the mic: "This is -Expletive- BS, I shouldn't be losing the ball, I have 99 dribbles".

It prompted me to switch mine on for a quick: "Did no one ever teach you that you have to drive AROUND the defense, not straight through it".

Of course I don't know anything, which is why he lost the rock 2 more times and quit. I flat out told him why he kept losing the ball, but he insisted the game didn't work because his 99 in handling should basically make an unstealable forcefield around the ball. This is the common logic the majority apply to 2k.

I haven't played park or pro am in a while (so I can't speak on how it's changed or not), but looking at the bigger picture maybe this is a wake up call for 2K to switch up the playstyles in my career...?

I was instantly turned off of the whole experience the day I seen the stat caps. I mean, everyone could see an outside guard or inside center would be most beneficial.
Yea, 2K15 was 7' small forward or nothing...but that didn't mean kill the position.

In Pro Am my small forward is actually a good build; I can go down low against guards and stretch the floor kinda like Melo or Rudy Gay.
But in Park it's useless; you either play 3 guards or 2 and a 7'3 center. No variety...just like last year.

Shooting 3's all the time wouldn't be such a big problem if everyone wasn't a shooter. It's the only build that gives you everything.
You can still get posterizer and all the driving badges as an OUTSIDE PLAYER....

Can you shoot 3's as an inside player tho????? Barely....maybe 1/4 if you're lucky.

Just leaving this up to discussion...I really think they need to find a way to balance badges. If you make an outside player he shouldn't be able to slash just as well as an inside player...just my thoughts. Because on the reverse I can't be a shooter as an inside player.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

This is accurate. I blame the badge system partially, and the caps to more of an extent. I like the idea of having 100 "blocks" to fill, but instead of 6 sections at 20, maybe 12 sections at 10.

Instead of the current six, split them.
                              Mids
                              3s
                              Inside
                              Layup
                              Dunk
                              Athlete
                              Ball handling
                              Passing
                              Offensive Rebounding
                              Defensive rebounding (Or rebounding/Hustle)
                              Perimeter Defense
                              Inside Defense

Now there's more choices to make. Hell, maybe add a 13th category. So now it's guaranteed that if you max out 10 spots, you suck at 3. Or maybe you're good at 7 things and average at the other six. Or maybe you're flat out all around now because of a bit of everything.

                              Make stuff worth it.

Or go back to the old system but make the caps a little more different.

Keep the badges, but use 14 or 13s system of picking and choosing say a set number.

There's no parity right now, everyone is a shooter because there's no reason not to be. Like, remember when you needed X in driving Dunk and X in vert to get posterizer level 3? That creates parity in itself

Somebody brought up a point last year and I disagreed with it.

But now I would love to see 2k force us to pick a playstyle at creation. Not scoring style outside , inside, balanced . But style as a whole !! Everybody feels the same. We need more styles rebounding , defensive , 3 point specialist , slasher , athletic wing , etc
