Re: NBA 2K16 Patch #6 Available Now For PlayStation 4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Include
These are all the risks you run by playing online. Take one move away, the idiots will just find and exploit something else.
The moves themselves are not the problem. The problem is the people who are playing the game.
You start nerfing all these moves that are valid, in game, real life options, then you take away the skills from all the genuine players who don't play cheese ball - how in anyway, shape or form is that fair?
You play online? Expect to deal with cheese. It comes with the territory. 2K shouldn't be removing or crippling moves which hinder the play of those of us who actually game in a sim manner. Thanks to that mentality, there are now several moves in the game that are basically useless because of it, that's just not on. 1) Player runs faster than his maximum speed without ball while doing it.
2) Player need 86 ball handling rating to do it, if its 85 he is suddenly MUCH worse in breaking defender. By this logic 75 vs 85 ball handling ratings makes less difference than 85 vs 86 . Don't recall if its exactly 86 since i never focused on doing it, but you get the point.
You gotta realize that unrealistic speed boost animations and too high difficulty to break slow/bad defender are separate issues. One is now fixed.Last edited by Vroman; 05-06-2016, 09:49 AM.Comment

BTW the video has sensitive cuss words so if you're sensitive to cussing: you been warned.. it's a motivational video for a park guy like me who doesn't want to see finesse kings expire over a patch... I want competition and I don't want it in a basic dull boring form.. I want to be challenged on defense by some trick moves.. that's what the park platform is for..

In no manner speed boost was ever sim or making sense for 2 reasons:
1) Player runs faster than his maximum speed without ball while doing it.
2) Player need 86 ball handling rating to do it, if its 85 he is suddenly MUCH worse in breaking defender. By this logic 75 vs 85 ball handling ratings makes less difference than 85 vs 86 . Don't recall if its exactly 86 since i never focused on doing it, but you get the point.

I wasn't insinuating that this speedboost nonsense was sim, more so the other moves I mentioned that had been dumbed down in patches. (SPin layin, passfake drive etc)
This is all assumption on my part, as I only play offline anyhow and didn't even know about this speedboost thing until yesterday.
As I said though, the problem isn't the exploits, it's the players. Sim ballers wouldn't use that kind of garbage, but cheesers do, and online, for the most part, is a cheesers paradise, it's the nature of the beast.Last edited by daveberg; 05-06-2016, 10:31 AM.-----------------------------------------

Re: NBA 2K16 Patch #6 Available Now For PlayStation 4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Include
Alright, I finally got some games in with the patch. I do not play online. I am an offline only player, and if you call yourself of basketball, and you want that represented in a video game, you should have NO complaints about this patch.
I cannot BELIEVE some of the comments I'm seeing in here. This is what the community has turned too? Yall are really mad at them for making the game more realistic. That's crazy as hell for real, cause isn't this what the nba 2k franchise was built on, realism? Man, lemme address the bull I'm seeing in this thread.
Dudes talking about the game is too slow now? I feel like the game now has "weight" to it. Players aren't just zig zagging and twitching all over the court now. Play seems organized, with a purpose instead of 10 guys just huddling around in a crowd on the court. I can see plays develop, players moving to a spot, actual basketball being played and dudes are mad about this? There is a noticeable speed difference between PLAYERS now for sure. I can tell who's fast and who's not, and I can really get to the rim with those fast guys, and yall are mad about this? Come on ..
As far as a faster playing blowing by a defender, either yall aren't using the players with this skill, or you haven't the stick skills to pull this off. I was crossing fools up with Durant, spinning around them effortlessly to the rack. A quick hesitation move and blow by with Westbrook and I was slamming it at will. Are yall trying to just cross over and blow by with every player you control? Do you even run plays? Sometimes just running a play is the best way to get a guy open. I feel like this should be common knowledge but based on some of these posts, we live in an ISO only world. Crazy.
Shooting has also been tuned for the better. Before this patch, it seemed like me and the cpu were not missing anything. I'm talking 70% from 3 not missing anything. The game was pure arcade trash before this patch and that's putting it lightly.
I can now see operation Sports is close to being all online for this game. We don't even talk about the game anymore, it's nothing but complaints with no real conclusion or help.
This patch has actually made me enjoy this game again. I'm sure little warts and things will pop up, but after getting in a few games with it, some of the comments in here are blowing my mind. I feel like 24 and a few other cats are in here defending this game and we're far outnumbered. Is the sim crowd really this low now? It's a shame.
I play on superstar simulation, 12 minutes with 2K rosters. Game plays great for me now. As an advocate for the offline gamer, I fully support this patch.

The whole "speed boosting" isn't the real problem.
NBA players move fast and quick like that. Heck, even faster. Anybody who watches games would know this.
The problem is 2K needs to fix man defense. This is just a quick fix to cover up the bad D.Comment

I should've been clearer in regards to nerfing player speed off dribble moves - quick guards will surely have taken a step back in terms of explosiveness now because of this patch?

This. The sim community is much smaller than the Cheese community ESPECIALLY in MyPark. Year in and year out there's cheese in 2K. It was last year, this year, and I guarantee you there will be cheese next year. It's a never ending cycle. I wish people would stop crying and just make the right adjustments and play the game. Both sides are complaining like crazy right now smh. Its ridiculous.Last edited by Korrupted; 05-06-2016, 11:11 AM.Comment

I still see play now online players comparing their gameplay to park players and vice versa . Different game modes . Different strategies .#1 Laker fan

I feel you.... Love the patch. It has balanced the game, period. It has showed all these #GlitchMade 2k "Gawd's" that they are trash; and brought the team and basketball strategy back... The sim crowd isn't that low, it's that the cheeseball community is so large and they came on strong to Operation Sports during last years game...Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Patch #6 Available Now For PlayStation 4 & Xbox One, Patch Notes Include
A long time ago, there was an attempt to Localize a Korean MMO called Freestyle Street Basketball. It was 3 on 3, exactly like park with over the top elements. The game was fun, but to be top tier you generally needed a Max Level SG, a max level SF and a Max level C. The SF and SG would run back and forth passing to each other. Because of the way the game was coded, if you caught the ball with a certain skill you would get a mini boost of speed/created distance.
The game boiled down into passing back and forth trying to trigger a "Nice Pass", and quickly inputting a command to "Faceup Jumpshot" so that you instantly get an open look. There were a few other "tricks", but this was considered a high level technique, and was called "Kukgi".
What is the relevance? It was a semi defendable exploit of code that was considered a "skill". I never used it, mostly because I was bad at it. I had a few friends who were masters and even said multiple times: "We're using an exploit, and the game boils down to this exploit, rebound, , reset".
Speed Boosting is an exploit. I think of how good and fun freestyle would've been if every game wasn't the same thing over and over again. 2k16 had become the same game every time on the park. There was no strategy. There was no creativity, there was just speed boosting.
I'll clarify, Speed boosting is not that hard to guard if you are good at anticipation. Once again, no creativity means everyone is doing the same exact thing each possession. However, that argument is stupid. If something warps a game around it, it needs to be evaluated. I also play Magic: The Gathering. This game has existed for 20 plus years. There are millions of cards, but most competitive formats lessen the pool.
Despite all this cards get banned. The criteria used to ban a card is power level and how badly it warps the format. They banned a recent card in all formats. By itself it was a pretty basic effect(albeit very good) and had a high cost to play. There was a second ability that let you greatly reduce the cost of playing it. Suddenly it was everywhere. Every deck, even ones that weren't really "Supposed to", because it made no sense not to. The format warped around one card, and it was present in every deck, period. So they banned it, because it homogenizes the game too much.
Point of my rant: Not only is speed boosting not simulation style, It's not even the explosive first steps people try to say it represents. It warped an entire game mode around it, and there's no bigger proof of that than the 100+ youtube videos whining about it. It's not a matter of if it's guardable, it's a matter of making the game require more than just "Speedboost" or "Defend speedboost". Keep it up 2k. You got more issues to deal with and fix gameplay wise for 17, but keep it balanced so we can play good basketballFemale Russell Westbrook.

Last page I seen the guy mentioning blowing by people with Durant , Westbrook and I think I might have seen John Wall mentioned .
Keep in mind due to the caps most myplayers can't get Westbrook's speed or Walls quickness or Kevin Durants ball control.
That's one example .
On the flip side park players have to remember they are facing maxed defensive created players with all the defensive badges. while play now online guys aren't . It should be harder to take them off the dribble .#1 Laker fan
