Re: 3 years in a row I've stopped playing because of patches.

I think i might have stopped playing the last 3-5 years if those patches had not come out. I really appreciate them putting out this many patches, fixing stuff.

I understand it being weird, if the gameplay chages in the middel of the year, because you learn and get used to things and then they change.

But still: I really want to give devs props for giving us this many patches, trying to make the product better. I almost couldn't believe that this late in the cycle they FINALLY(!) decided to put those immensely ridiculous speed-boosts to rest. Why was that in the game in the first place? And why could only one player type do them?
Better late then never. Thank god for patch #6.

    Amen.

Essentially, every year the style of play i like, dribble drive and penetrate is irrelevant.

Through out this year and the 3 years previous have always affected my specific style of play. I'm not a size up spammer or want to dunk on everyone. But they make it to where even someone who has taken the time every year to work on dribble drive and defense I'm not as effective because of the patches.

I'm a distributor first, but my hands are tied. If i can't beat players off the dribble handily, my game is non existent.
I picked 6'7 inside SF because I knew that would be the most non-meta player. I also thought that inside would be more than just scoring style (like allowing him to be an inside defender, too.) That was wrong, and arguably bad design.

In any 2k, if you are given a choice to pick inside or outside and you are looking to be better, you should always pick outside. haha. The sad part to me was how broke my 6'7 SF was (he's ok after the patch that made it so people make every 3 tho... heh, or in park from near-halfcourt), feet set, corner 3 with corner badge was still pretty broke on-the-line. You can get in the paint and trick the game into letting you make a shot and/or dunk much easier than you can hope that your release will actually cause the computer to think HMM maybe that shot should go in.

It's not an issue of me failing at release, I don't think, cuz I make a very high percentage with my inside C (and no shot upgrades) from the FT line. I almost always get green, so... I personally don't think it's my fail. However, it could be shot animation for my SF.

Also: drive and kick works in 3s but in 5s, it doesn't because the guys are too long, too agile, and the court feels too small.

The game was beautiful at launch , lots of peiple praised 2k for actually letting you play D and get rewarded.

And then patch 1 came , User Defense got nerfed, CPU D got better. Passing the ball turns into an interception. 3s falling everywhere

        Just leave the game alone

I find on-ball defense almost perfect now. CPU defense was actually nerfed in one of the later patches. It was insane at the beginning of the year. That and the shooting sliders being upped are really the only major changes I can remember. I don't remember them messing with user D at all.

What really happened was people got better at the game as time went on, so it obviously got easier to score.

Oh, OBD was and is still way too OP in certain situations and then completely non-existent in others.

I think the one way I could define this year and the last few have just been inconsistent.

That's what ails this series, inconsistency.
