Sheesh, you can't appreciate MyLeague, MyGM, the fantasy elements of MyTeam, or anything else in the game? Grow up.

When I was a naive, stupid kid, I had quite a few experiences like that pool example.
Looking back, I realize what a moron I was back then.
I've gotten over it by now.

Can't speak for him, but if I only wanted to play one mode, and that mode was executed poorly, I wouldn't get the game either. Some people just don't want to do anything else, and that's fine.

Hell I'd skip 2k17 if I was only interested in MyCareer, because the scripted nonsense is boring. But I like to play Park with friends and play against the CPU with NBA teams.

I highly doubt that's what this is. This is what I imagine. And it's obviously pure speculation. I assume since they took the time to get licenses and create the art assets last year, that they wouldn't totally abandon the high school/college aspect of myCareer. So envision us starting out in high school as an up and coming talent. All the while we'll hear about this other talented player at another school. We'll cross paths a couple times, build up a sort of rivalry, mutual respect situation, which will likely culminate in us facing off against each other in the college national championship game. After that we'll get drafted and I'm guessing we'll both be drafted to the same team, forming a new young core for whatever franchise. They may even have a truncated rookie season, much like last year, where you only play a few scripted games and then the season ends. And then after that, you get the choice to force a trade or (weirdly) be a free agent. At which point, that decision has a little more weight, because leaving now means you leave your running mate and potentially create some Westbrook/Durant like storylines. Or stay with the team that drafts you and see what you can build together. Just a thought.

You can do whatever you like with your money and expect whatever you like from your gaming experience. I only play BAP modes. The linear storyline makes 2K my player unplayable to me. So instead of assuming about my expectations you worry about your own experience with the game.

My idea was that you can either 1. create your "rival" or just choose Jackson Ellis or whatever the preset is, and then you guys both get drafted to an expansion team maybe?

Do away with the whole scripted thing. It's what totally kills the mode's longevity in my opinion. Especially last year where we went from having this whole story to there being completely nothing after season one.

The mode would be much better if you could be a huge success story coming into the NBA or on the other hand a failure at college who has fallen in the draft rankings and needs to redeem themselves in the NBA. Making it all about your play shaping what happens in your career should be the focus. Coaches shouldn't automatically gift you the starting role just because you play a few good games. There should be the possibility that the team brings in a big star in your position, leaving you stranded on the bench and forced to go elsewhere or adapt into a new position. You shouldn't be handed the keys to the offence as if you're LeBron James.

thats actually good, it would give me a reason to continue playing after 5 seasons or more..unlike this year's 1 season story mode

Everyone has their own unique desires and expectations when it comes to buying 2K. Often, I see the, "Then don't buy it" line of reasoning bandied about when folks critique the game. Then, when those people actually don't buy it, here we are making a fuss about them not purchasing.

Seventy bucks every single year isn't always a drop in the bucket. For that kind of cash, every year, people will want to make sure it's worth it to them. And if you happen to have an undying love for MyPlayer mode, only to watch it turn into whatever the heck it's turned into since 2K13, then yeah, I get the conundrum.
