It would be nice, so that one could practice with more players/teams without backing in/out...especially when it comes to custom teams.

Would also be nice to have full defensive setting control in Scrimmage. To be able to set P'n'R strategies, individual defensive settings, etc. Lots of serious players would like to be able to practice various defensive schemes in the Scrimmage setting.

Waaaait Mike ur still in here going strong??

        Definitely the real MVP...lol.

Can we get some more info re: Advanced Rotations? Can we use them online?

Can I turn on real player % for online play shooting and not use the shot meter? (Almost sure the answers no but just checking)

Did calling a play in timeouts make it in this cycle?

Any chance Game Reel returns? That was an epic feature...can't believe its gone *cries*

I don't think I've seen this type of Q&A thread with a developer before on OS. Look at the number of posts Mike has relative to everybody else in this thread. It hasn't been like 4-5 word posts either but rather posts with a lot of content...I appreciate the disclosure on decisions and ideas too.

          Great stuff!

Re: NBA 2K17 Gameplay Blog with Gameplay Director, Mike Wang

I know these were touched on a little bit, but my #1 concern is responsiveness/faster animations. Ive read that it sounds a lot better offensively, but do players still feel sluggish on defense? I feel like it took way too long to switch to an offball player and rotate him, have him figh through a screen, etc. on 2K16. I felt helpless.

That ties into my second concern which was defensive ai/awareness. Maybe OG will get into this more but I saw too many players struggle to pick up in transition, help one pass away, and just generally confused by their defensive assignment. Telling 2 players to switch in the settings didn't seem to work properly. They would be confused for a second or two which would free up one of the offensive players and defeat the purpose of switching. That or a player with high defensive iq would not hedge properly. This was difficult to deal with when combined with the sluggishness and pulling of defensive players. Also, defending passing lanes online was a nightmare, I got my fingers crossed that the new bumping controls can alleviate all the interior passing cheese.

Finally as far as passing goes I see Mike mentioned passing has went through a lot of changes and I'm hoping we see crisper passes with a bit more velocity. In Pro Am in particular, I felt that you couldn't make defenses pay for helping one pass away because the passing animations and pass speed seemed pretty slow and drawn out. I could get doubled on the block and kick out to the near side corner and the defender could still recover with no issue.

If these areas received a lot of attention and made a good amount of progress I will definitely be a happy customer.

He does it once a year man. Part of the reason why the community loves this dude. He knows his stuff and translates it over to the fans easy to understand and interacts.

                3. We have a lot of Shot Button users in house and I think they're pretty happy with the shot selection they either get automatically or through Left Stick hints. Floaters are pretty tough to pull off on the Shot Button but I don't think we want to remove pull-up middies altogether from that 10-15 foot range.
Thanks for the reply. Just a quick follow up question about the Shot Creator

Will you be expanding this outside of MyCareer in the future so roster and draft class editors can use this great feature? This is seriously pretty amazing tech that I didn't expect for quite some time. I know everyone at #SIGNATION would greatly appreciate this being openly available

Thanks for all the info @Beluba!!! It's really amazing all the interaction and importance you guys give to the community... ;-)

The only concern I have is, let's say, I am happy with giving the user more control and make stick skills more relevant... But will basketball strategy/skill/IQ be able to overcome a highly skilled player with no basketball knowledge???

I mean, I wouldn't like to be consistently defeated online by a guy that is just able to run and gun like hell, pass, dribble and shoot (and cheese all over the place if that is still possible) like an angel but never run plays, or pick and rolls, or doesn't execute post moves, attack mismatches, etc...

I know it is a difficult question and perhaps impossible to answer it but I wouldn't mind to know your gut-feeling about it... For instance I have always thought that running basketball plays instead of just "pass-dribble-shoot" should have some kind of boost in the '2k world'...

                      Cheers!!!

Da Czar should probably do the deep dive here. But here's the basics:

Tap L1/LB to bring up the Smart Playcalling Wheel and player icons.

                        From here:
                        - Flick RS up left/right to call 1 of 2 Dynamic Smart Plays provided by ACE
                        - Flick RS down to call 2K Smart Play
                        - Flick RS left/right to call Quick Iso or Post (the game auto selects the best player)

                        OR

Press the action button of the specific player you want to call a play for

                        From there:
                        - Flick RS to call a quick play for that specific player
                        - use L1/LB and R1/RB to tab over to their full play-specific plays, then flick RS toward the play you want.

You can do it much better this year the way body ups have been changed. But I didn't add specific content for splitting the pick & roll. I'll add it to the list.
