Re: NBA 2K17 Arena Authenticity Trailer
Some of the responses in this thread provide a reason for why some 2k devs might use the phrase "why bother?" in regards to all the work 2k did in this area..lolEA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Arena Authenticity Trailer
call me cynical, but it seems like an incredible waste of time and money to fly out to these different arenas, when they can just watch a couple of HD games. I don't understand how they have time and money for that, but player models look anorexic and a lot of uniforms looks waay off. Good on them for trying, but seems a bit excessive.Comment

The crowd, a real one, the sounds of the game, buzzers, Arena chants, defensive chants, chant music...they need ALL of that.
Art and sound are not the same thing.
I'll keep my opinion until I can hear for myself but this thread is trash, except for a few guys here trying to keep the conversation civil, it went by the wayside within 2 pages.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Arena Authenticity Trailer
Man, NBA Live 15's crowd sounds were waaay better. They actually sound like the authentic crowds you hear through an actual broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=O-rTQgzHNqU
2k17's crowd sounds sound like 2k16 but with EQ on it to sound different.
As an audio engineer, i was REALLY excited to hear that they'd gone to every stadium and recorded their crowds, but it doesn't like they have actually done that, judging from the trailer.
I'll reserve judgement until i experience the game for myself, but for now i'm skeptical.Comment

Okay, now I'm VERY confident crowds won't suck this year.
Didnt like 16 but This + freestyle dribbling + no auto fouls on inside bs and I think I'm willing to put $60 down no question! Whoo!

Re: NBA 2K17 Arena Authenticity Trailer
Here's hoping that the arena specific lighting can be tweaked in a future patch. 2k referenced it as being in multiple times, during hands on and presentation demos.
Here is the quote from the ign presentation:
"Blumberg told us that the development team worked on revamping the lighting to make it custom for each basketball arena, so diehard fans will notice how the bright lights of the Cleveland Cavalier’s Quicken Loans Arena differ compared the focused lighting of the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s just another example of NBA 2K’s dedication to capturing the look and feel of a live TV broadcast."
Doesn't seem like the advertised 'focused lighting' changes made it to the retail version, for whatever reason. MSG, Staples, Brooklyn, etc...should have more of the unique dark setting for sure.Comment
