For anyone looking for more the CPU to throw more alley-oops, I suggest raising the individual players' Throw tendency up to at least 75. Tried it out with CPU Darren Collison and Chris Paul and, well, here were the results:

Had a cutscene in MyCareer where KCP questioned whether i belonged in the Pistons starting lineup. MyPlayer responded that you would see by the end of the 1st quarter that i/he belonged.
Then this happened
