I am having a tough job deciding whether I want to do a 6'11 post scoring center or a 6'6 sg shot creator for my first player. The biggest issue I have with center is that I don't know if they fixed the issue with plays not being displayed/freelance not being displayed if you are not a point guard.

Re: Official NBA 2K17 MyCareer Thread
Played 11 games today and just got made a starter. Was drafted #2 by the Lakers I am a Shot Creator SG 6'5" 220. 84" wingspan. Used my 100k VC to upgrade my guy to about ~81 before I started college.
Have Shooting Off Dribble about 3/4 maxed. Layups dunks 3 bars left. Mid Range a little over half way maxed. 3 Point shooting about half way as well (I am shutting about 19% lol). Nothing in Post Scoring yet Agility needs 4 more bars Strength is about 1/4 maxed. Nothing in Rebounding. Playmaking is maxed defense is almost half way.
I am now an 84 overall and have a few upgrades left just need to earn VC but I am doing almost all of the practices.
In the 11 games I have averaged 16.4 PPG 3.7 RPG and 2.9 APG. Not great stats but up until now I was coming off the bench averaging 16 minutes.
I have to cut down on my shooting though I would play 16 minutes and hoist up like 14 shots. I have started playing more into the flow of the offense.
Justice is averaging 1.01 PPG 2.4 APG in 13.9 minutes. He is 80 overall.
I am playing on All-Star I played a few games on Super Star but I was getting destroyed by 20+ point every game and could not get past the defense at all. All-Star is a little too easy but its closer to my skill level than Super Star so far this year (Played SS/Sim last year). I wish you could change sliders in MyCareer but oh well.
Anyways I am really enjoying the story. This years MyCareer so far is very good really liking it."Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"

You picked slasher thinking you would be shooting 3's? That's not a problem with the playstyle or it's abilities, that's on you.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K17 MyCareer Thread
That being said...
I've been grinding out upgrades but it's a super tedious process. I think if 2k halved the amount of open gym time and just had guys come over to your place to work out it'd be a lot better. It's not the practices I hate so much as the loading screens. But I digress... I decided to buy a few boosts just to see how it would go. Now maybe my stats are just on the precipice of being good (weird to sayfor an 87 overall) but that next game was night and day. I was MUCH quicker and my handle was MUCH better. I was able to get by guys off the dribble a few times and get some easy back door dunks and oops, and even hit a couple threes. HOW MANY POINT DO BOOSTS ADD? It was nuts. I got 22 off the bench and not playing hero ball. My previous best was like a hard, inefficient 16. But I guess it got me noticed because...
***This is a bit spoilery if you haven't gotten into the starting lineup***
The very next game Justice and Prez were starting. Now, I'm assuming those boosts are single game things, right? So I was nervous I'd be back to my slow, crappy shooting self and get killed. And after getting down 11-2 to the Wolves, who hit their first 3 threes, I was like "oh great here comes the struggle bus." Think I had 6 in the first, but on 2 three pointers. Anyway that got us going and I think we were down 3 or 4 when they subbed me out at like 4:45 (yay sub rotations!) Came back in and we're up by like 13. I'm like "dang. Nice job guys." But then it just kept going. ERRYBODY was hitting threes. Justice, Tucker, Booker, Dudley, Bledsoe (drafted by the Suns). It was raining. Went into the half up 20+. The halftime talk started with Coach asking if we wanted tacos or burgers after the game (never seen him that relaxed). Second half...
3rd quarter Prez and Justice got in a groove. Back doors, fast breaks, dimes everywhere. And you've seen the little flashes when you do something good together. All of a sudden I get him the ball on a fast break and he goes in for an and 1 and the game stops to tell me about the two player dynamic blah blah blah. Don't know if I'll ever use that but damn is it cool to see your guys linked and that orange circle. It's like NBA Jam "HE'S ON FIRE." Anyway, the threes and fun just kept going and we winning 142 to 107. And this after starting 7-9 and every win was a struggle.
Prez finished with 29-6-6 and Justice had 30-2-9. But he shot 11-20 (6-11 3pt) while I shot 8-11 (4-5 3pt!, 9-10 FT, in true slasher fashion). 7 guys in double digits and all 13 guys scored. 19/34 on threes. Oh and yeah on All-Star. I know it's easy for a lot of you guys but it's been kicking my *** in the early going.
This is probably the most fun game of 2k I've ever played. The "dynamic duo" mechanic is pretty exciting when it happens. It really pumped me up. I'm still buzzing from it.
Sorry for the long post. And any typos. I tapped this out on my phone.
TL;DR:
You can shoot threes with a slasher. Eventually.Last edited by claustin; 09-17-2016, 10:48 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K17 MyCareer Thread
So I only played one career game and I'm confused as hell. Can somebody tell me which part of the off day I have to do to progress toward an attribute unlock?
There are so many different options for the off day..different practices and events. I did them all, and all my options were grayed out - then it let me select them all over again like what the heck?Comment

I personally go to all optional practices for me attribute progress. There's usually one or 2 a day. Fill up the meter then leave. Make sure you don't time conflict it matters. Also when you're done with the day scroll right to sim to the next day.

Re: Official NBA 2K17 MyCareer Thread
It's probably because of your position. 76'ers are stacked with bigs. lakers have just recruited Mozgov and drafted Ingram, and Celtics have just recruited Horford. In past years, positional need has played a factor so I can only presume that's the case this year. I averaged 19/12 with my center all with A+ grades and only made it to the Pelicans.
Here was my SF:

Re: Official NBA 2K17 MyCareer Thread
Does going to every practice tire your player out ? I've been getting a lot of cutscenes saying my player is tired or one cutscene he said he needed a day off. I also felt like my shooting grade went down for some reason not the actual number. I'm a sharpshooter SF. 3 pt rating is 93 n for some reason my 3 pt shooting grade is a C.
And what good are Gatorade Boosts for ? I tried some of those too. They have some Gatorade bottle there for 3500 VC not sure what that does either.Comment

I'd like to know this too. Bc I've gone to all practices.
