Played a all sharpshooter team with a glass cleaner (go figure) all they did was set illegal screens and shoot step back 3s from half court and splash it. it was unreal to just sit here and watch this happen. Sharpshooter is without a doubt the most OP player type. Half the issue is they can shoot off dribble THEY were suppose to be limited to catch and shoot and thats far from the case also how is it even possible for them dunk on people? I figured this would happen with this playstyle. Anything that has to do with shooting 3s as a playertype will someway somehow be abused by people.

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread
im am just as frustrated as the next man that things are not working as advertised - but we've all been theough this with multiple games. things dont start working properly until about a month after release. that being said...
before 2k17s release, every other thread was "archatypes are too restrictive", " i cant make the the player i want", "17 will be trash because of x,y, and z"..
now, ppl want all the archatypes more restrictive. i run with a couple sharp shooters and they all arent lights out. the ones that have learned to to control the shot stick are raining shot all day. the button guys are hitting but not the way the shot stick guys are. IMO sharpshooters are fine the way they are, if you grinded for HOF badges they deserve to be useful. also when i match up against a sharpshooter as a PF yes sometimes they do blow right by me but the majority of the time their locked up.
personally, i dont feel any archatype is OP, i just think we need some transparancy as to what and how much of a boost each invidual badge/boost gives us ( and other players). the secrecy is off putting, being competitive a game as 2k is.
i like we can see everyones info (stats, badges, etc), now if 2k would do the same in regards to how to earn badges and the exactly how much boost they give us i would be happy (im not unhappy with 2k I LOVE THIS GAME, just constructive criticism)
archatypes are fine IMO, transparency on how much of a boost badges do is needed as well as how to get them
my fear is that they boost this, nerf that, and we all end up the same like last year.
if im a glass cleaner but i have taken the hour [literally!!! lol] to learn my pick n pop shot - i dont want it nerfed becuase you cant stop it. vice versa, if i cant stop you from dunking onmy neck with a playmaker i feel its on me to find a way to stop you - not 2k
it an unpopular opinion im sure lolComment

If a sharpshooter is draining it from half court, you need to close down or build a team with a lockdown defender and put them on that person. If the glass cleaner is getting all the boards then the Center is not boxing out efficiently because they don't grab everything and can get out-rebounded by a legit big man who knows how to position themselves, box-out and has the required badges/attributes too.
Welcome to archetypes. Each will have plus/minus against the other, it's all about figuring out the right match-ups and adjusting.Football: Manchester United

Agree completely. Some people master the game, it is then up to you as the opposition to counter that. Figuring out ways to do so and mastering your own.. People can't admit when they are at fault and it has to be the game as the sole reason to why they lose.

The problem with this argument is that the match making doesn't do a solid enough job in leveling the match ups.
I agree archetypes should have their +/- against each other but when our squad of slow grind low 70's players are consistently matched up against high 80's sharpshooters and paint protectors with hof badges, sharpshooters rule the day.
The sharpshooter range is crazy, anyone who denies that is protecting their love of their own sharpshooter. The off the dribble and step back 3s becomes killer, you can't help on D because where there is 1 sharpshooter, there is a 2nd that is playing sf which means the already lazy rotations are punished even more.
Then throw in that contact lay ups trigger so much more than contact dunks and you're lucky to draw a foul on either, the game rewards sharpshooters tons more than it does anyone else.
Even the 7'3" monster centers with a dominate PF aren't as killer as a squad loaded with sharpshooters and an AI PF/C combo.
I'm not for massive nerfs, I'd rather see tweaks to other archetypes inside to reward dominate play in the mid-game and inside. The most fun we had was a loss to a team that played inside-out, they didn't snowbird 3s or take 40 3s. They tried to dominate us and it actually turned into a great game that ended up with us losing by 12/13 in the end but we didn't disconnect griping about some SG sharpshooter playing SF hitting 15 3s.Last edited by speedtrucker; 09-26-2016, 10:13 AM.Comment

Brotha Jones, Dman, and dooms have all shown that this is the best build. If you disagree, show me a video of another archetype doing this type of damage.

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread
played a couple Pro AM games last night.
as a 6'8 SG it was pretty rough being matched up with 6'2 PGs with playmaker.
Input lag made staying in front of them almost impossible, and when there's another player on my team who is 6'6" its a bit stupid I am being nominated as PG.
My guy is easily more of a SG/SF hybrid.
Hope they can patch that, or at least give us the option to switch assignments without getting penalised.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread
I only shoot 55% from 3 as a stretch 4 but I faced dudes that literally couldn't miss even contested. Played 1 team yesterday and they had 4 sharpshooters and one other dude that didn't get the ball he just set screens. They were basically spamming the high double screen and chucking long range threes at a 75% clip.
Also, why can sharpshooters dunk like slashers? I seen dudes posterize people and finish the toughest dunks/layups.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread
Or maybe some people don't want to admit that the game and this archetype are flawed. There are countless videos showing that these sharpshooters are the best in the game. Do you think it's a coincidence that the best player(arguable) is also a sharpshooter? Lock down defenders shouldn't be the only counter to this play style. You can make a Sharpshooter at multiple positions so you're telling a pro-am squad that they need at minimum 2 to compete with sharpshooters. You gotta be joking.

In my eyes a Playmaker is more overpowered than a Sharpshooter, they can get the same badges (not on HoF but the shooting badges can be obtained) and they have 94 passing, 94 ball control, 94 speed/acceleration & 94 speed with ball. Throw in with a boost that their standing 3 point rating is 79 and moving is 85 they get the best of all. They also have the ankle breaker badge which on HoF puts everyone on their *** (except a LDD who has defensive stopper on HoF) so they get too much.Football: Manchester United

Youtubers who put out videos to get views are irrelevant to me. Personal experience is how I base my own opinion on.

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread
Opinion does not beat evidence. It may be possible that both are overpowered. At the moment the meta has been sharpshooters, they drop bombs from everywhere! I understand Curry is a beast but not even he hits at these type of percentages.

Sharpshooters are slow, they have 75 speed with ball, they also have 80 (i think) speed and acceleration and don't have very high ball control. You can stay with them and you shouldn't be worried about them burning past you.
Also, there is no point in comparing what happens in 2K with real life basketball. It's completely different, I don't see PG's speed boosting or constantly dribbling non-stop.
Remember too, if lag plays it's part then a sharpshooter is non-existent because they can struggle to time their shot. I understand that people are struggling to defend it but that's because they all have sharpshooters or playmakers with mid 70's lateral quickness.. Just takes time to adjust to everything and finding how to incorporate the archetypes with how the game is going.. I can see in a few months that people will be stopping the sharpshooters being able to shoot from ridiculous range. (If not, can't beat them at it then join them)Football: Manchester United
