It's been like that since release day, sadly.

Walk on with a full team of friends has never worked reliably in 2K17.

Is it possible to switch who your guarding?I have my center trying to defend the power forward, since the center is a stretch, and the pf is a glass cleaner.I'm constantly getting vacuumed away from the power forward. I dont understand why we cant have a timeout and be able to switch defenders like ya can in a normal mygm myleague game or have a quick menu or something at timeouts. Here's an idea why not just let us make those adjustments pregame like when your playing myteam or whatever? I also think we should be able to have 2 full timeouts So team can go over strategy, adjustments etc.

Only the point guard can switch defensive assignments which is dumb because when the ai is the pg, we can't do anything about switching. I thought the next person in line would be the sg and so forth but the switch menu never pops up.

Yea you would think this should be addressed like right now, supposed to be esports but ya cant even make adjustments I think both backcourt players should be able to do it also their should he 1 full timeout per half or something Where you can see a shot chart team stats and make def adjustments etc

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread

Walk on is where you meet some interesting 2k perspectives, that's for damn sure.

Why do people join together (2-3 folks usually) for a walk on, and then pass only to each other in walk on? You can almost always tell within the first 3 minutes if that's going to be the case. And if those guys don't touch it enough, they check out on defense and eventually quit. Why didn't you guys just go play 2s/3s in the park instead?!

And now I understand that there seems to be a wide range of views on what a good shot is. There are some dudes that think "I got passed the ball, that means I shoot NOW!" and then complain on the mic and say "How do I keep missing!? Sharpshooters are nerfed!!!" When I could see from a mile away that they were not open, ever, and the right play was to always keep the ball and themselves moving.

And then there's the "Blame everybody else and don't STFU on the mic when something wrong happens" guy. This guy manages to blame other people if he gets blown by on defense or when he makes a bad pass into traffic that results into a TO, "Hold onto the ball!!" like the other dude could do anything about it. Or if someone misses a shot or makes a turnover, won't stop talking about how much everyone else sucks, while carrying an awful stat line and a C- grade.

I guess this sounds like the average walk on experience.

I wish player of the game wasn't based on points. Just had a game where I had 30 pts on like 12/15 shooting with 9 Reb and 4 Ast and a A- grade but the guy on my team who had a D+ and 8 turnovers got it because he dropped 50 with no Reb and 5 Ast on trash shooting

Pro Am is SUCH a garbage game mode it's laughable, every couple of weeks when I decide to give it another chance I am reminded of why to avoid it like the plague.

EVERY. SINGLE. GAME is just teams spamming screens and 3 pointers behind them EVERY play, other than the occasional spam up court pass fast break.

They might as well just disable the game mode or rename it Screen Invaders or something because it's the farthest thing from basketball I've ever seen.

That's what you'd think the first few times you play. But adjust. The man who's screening you, his man needs to come out and contest the shot or you need to go over the screen. Nobody communicates though in walk on so it's typically a problem. If you get a good team of 5 together it's not really an issue.

I agree but, it is a bit overpowered and over used because of it.
The picks are too strong and you get sucked into them. And the shots off the screen are too effective, especially the deep ones.
Both could be fixed with some slight tuning, IMO.

Re: NBA 2K17 Pro-Am Discussion Thread

Just because a tactic can be defended doesn't mean that it's not overly effective or completely unrealistic.

Screens in this game mode are all of the above.

2K17 just doesn't have enough realistic two-man animations in the game right now to make screens work like they do in real life. The "suction effect" also feels very magnetic at times, even in instances where the defender should have easily made it around the screener's body without any contact occurring.

In addition to the lack of quality engagement animations, 2K17 has also added two new mechanics that have heavily titled screens' gameplay balance in the offense's favor:

The defensive stamina meter is much faster and easier to deplete compared to the ball carrier's stamina meter (all it takes is one HOF bruiser screen to completely drain a defender's stamina), plus 2K17 has added these arcadey HOF brick wall knockdown animations that can dump even a fully badged lockdown defender to the ground like he was a scrawny middle school church leaguer.

I don't disagree that screens are unrealistic or anything. Just saying that the tactic has counters and they really aren't that hard to stop you just can't do it alone. That's why people get frustrated with them imo.

Except bringing a second help defender doesn't really matter anyway when there are 2 or even 3 screeners at the top of the key causing the defenders to get bumped and sucked in to animations that you can't avoid.

And trying to go under the screen just means the sharpshooter can hit a 3 over his 7ft teammate despite not even being able to see the rim.

The tactic (and the fact that the game rewards it) has basically killed that game mode for everyone I know who was interested in playing Pro Am before release.

                          It's just garbage programming, really.
