The amount of overhead passes in general detracts from the game, but the speed of the passes and the animation itself are the main issues from a gameplay standpoint. From my experience the bounce and chest passes seemed OK...maybe not as zippy as I would like but quick enough. The ball speed in general just seems sluggish. I never got the sense from playing the demo today that ball movement will be an effective weapon because the the zip on most passes just seemed to be lacking. Appreciate you taking the time to respond man.

Damnit, still slow passing?? So frustrating..when do you ever see two-handed overhead passes in real life anyway? How many years does it take for 2k to get the speed of the game right? I understand basketball is more difficult from other sports, but quickness and speed matter A LOT! Fastbreaks with slow passing leads to no real fast breaks, no ability to pass fast makes it hard to catch a defender off guard / slow at rotating over etc. Come on 2k, stop focusing on these dumb details like tattoos, sounds and fix the gameplay already!!Last edited by yellow86; 09-08-2016, 05:20 PM.Comment

I think that overhead passes shoudn't trigger when icon passing. It should be limited to lob pass into the post when manually using the triangle. The problem is that the CPU tends to use it too often aswell.
They are too slow to be effective at anything else but passing the ball into the post.2k18 fixes
Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)
Late contest on laups matter too much.
Random blocks doing pumpfakes.
Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.Comment

I dont have that much of a problem with them because everyone cant throw a snappy skip pass. But if it triggers on a pass to a person right next to me then its an issue.Comment

I wonder what's the logic for the CPU to trigger them.
They'd need to never trigger randomly when you press the bounce pass/chest pass button. There still is instances where the game overrides your input and make you throw a bounce pass instead of a chest pass, or a chest pass instead of a bounce pass. That needs to be eliminated aswell.Comment

I haven't seen enough to comment about 2K17 but on 16 the passes themselves were too floaty but it made it even worse that you had to stop gather turn your body extend your arms on some very slow animated drive and kick or if you were doubled from the post. It was too easy to recover from helping one pass away. The defense should be bringing over a weakside defender to force the longer more riskier pass. It looked a bit better from the clips I've seen but I'm for making it faster. It hasn't been at an ideal speed since 2k14 last gen that I can remember.Student of the game. #Fundamentals

Are we really surprised about floaty passes though? This has been a problem in 2k. They never fixed it in 2k16 so what makes you think hey will fix it 2k17?
Good post and definitely needed this feedback but its only so kuch the devs can do with the code that is already written. I like to think of patches as sharpness on a tv. It cann sometimes improve quality but it is artifical. Things that are hard written in the game are harder to fix and anything the devs do to fix it may take away from other aspects of the gsmd and make things unrealistic i.e speed up the game etc.
This has been an ongoing isssue and must definitely not be an easy fixComment

Just improve the speed a little bit so they're reliable passes to lob it into the post when manually pressing the triangle button.
And theses passes aren't just a little bit floaty like overhead passes used to be in previous 2K, they are extremely floaty and slow.

Two hand overhead passes are usually used to throw over defenders, over double teams across the court, it should not be take completely out the game, just needs to trigger at the right times.Xbox Series X: KILLMUNGERComment

The animation for the overhead pass takes too long and the AI defence starts moving towards the passing lane as soon as the animation triggers so they are basically in the passing lane by the time the ball is released.
The overall pace of the passing seems to be way out of sync compared to the movements of the players. At a guess, I would say the speed of the passing is around 10% slower than the overall pace/flow of the game if that makes sense?Comment

The two handed overhead pass needs to go. If it can't be contextual it should be completely eliminated. The animation is too long, slow and drawn out and kills the flow of quick ball movement in transition or trying to get out on the break. It's also totally immersion-breaking. Watching players make 2 handed overhead passes a few feet away from each other is ridiculous. It's an eye sore and negatively impacts the experience from a gameplay perspective. It's all bad.
Second, watching the vids/leaked footage and then playing a bit of The Prelude today the passing is as floaty as ever. It's a step back from 2k16 in almost every respect. The necessary zip on a given pass seems random and far too infrequent. The animations just to begin a pass attempt are far too slow and it's almost impossible to whip the ball around in a half court sequence.
Mike, as always I appreciate and respect your hard work and your presence here on this board. Hopefully our feedback is just as helpful and insightful as the information you give us.
They said there is a day 1 patch, but didn't say what was in it.Comment
