Re: OS NBA 2k17 Shoe Vault - Discussion
We get wack All Star jerseys and no All Stars shoes. Nike gotta come through next year since they'll be sponsoring the jerseys

At least from Nike and Jordan, we'll still get something from the other brands I'm sure. Let's see what they come up withComment

like players rock PE's all the time that don't go to retail
cancel them altogether because they won't be avalailable to consumers

Re: OS NBA 2k17 Shoe Vault - Discussion
Look at Nike's statement that the athletes plan to wear the bhm shoes instead. This falls in line with athletes speaking up to be role models during the violence/rights movements/political issues happening in the US right now.
This is also just a guess/opinion. Not a fact but just something that makes more sense when athletes are supporting charities and rocking out tshirts to support certain causes. BHM shoes are probably more important to them than all star.Comment

Re: OS NBA 2k17 Shoe Vault - Discussion
I highly doubt it's at the players request. The BHM shoes have nothing to do with Black History month besides the PR blurb. Nike could've given them any random nickname and then they'd be that instead. You know next ASG there will be some form of ASG kicks, even if it's execution is different from what we've seen in the past. The ASG going from CHA to NO probably has something to do with why there won't be ASG kicks, but Nike basketball has dropped the ball recently and they probably don't feel they have enough energy around the latest models to offer an ASG shoe, BHM (which are weak) and GR models.Last edited by nastradamus; 02-02-2017, 12:41 PM.Comment

Your comment is so ignorant, "The BHM shoes have nothing to do with Black History month besides the PR blurb" you are suggesting that these players only wear them because Nike tells them too. Read this article as carmelo wants to use his shoes for social justice. Very ignorant to suggest that these players dont care about their bhm shoes. "BHM" is a symbol and recognition of a culture. I believe these players take pride in representing their culture.
heres another with Draymon:
The heart of the Warriors’ team follows in the activist footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to end racial injustice and inequality.
Alot of the feedback on various social media website Ive seen doesnt have them dropping the ball. Just because loud shoes is what you wanted, doesnt seem like what the general consumer wants anymore. and believe it or not, athletes have a huge say in shoes.
FYI A better reason that you could have provided would have been that they have taken too much than their company can handle with taking over uniforms for 2017-2018 which they have to be making now since articles have surfaced that they are being presented to retailers. BUT you choose to state this "I highly doubt it's at the players request. The BHM shoes have nothing to do with Black History month besides the PR blurb. Nike could've given them any random nickname and then they'd be that instead."Last edited by altj2020; 02-02-2017, 01:10 PM.Comment

Re: OS NBA 2k17 Shoe Vault - Discussion
You should try reading to comprehend my friend. I never said players only wear the shoes because Nike forces them. I said the BHM collection is largely uninspired and has nothing to do with black history. I want you to look at the recent shoes and tell me who are what they are celebrating or advocating for. I'll wait. All that can be said is the PR from the announcement, which doesn't resonate with me at all. I don't know the players and I'm sure they care to an extent, but the product itself is weak.
Nike basketball's lineup is disappointing to me. You may like the shoes and that's great for you. There's been only decent colorway of the XIV, the only one released so far, which has been practically impossible to get. The Kobe AD is just not that great of a shoe. There's a lack of energy around these shoes , no matter of likes on social media is going to change that. Runner silhouettes are what the "general consumer" wants right now, your comment about my preference for loud sneakers is baseless, you don't know me.
How ironic that you start your response off calling me ignorant only to wrap it up suggesting that a company like Nike is too overwhelmed designing uniforms for next year to make ASG shoes this year.
Brian Windhorst article that references Lebron's anger that his recent shoes haven't struck a chord with enthusiasts. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/durant-...ry?id=45166857
You want me to believe players have huge input on their shoes when one year LeBron hardly wore his sig?

I feel like the players will get PEs for AS this year (not a general release), unless I'm misunderstanding something

I think its fair enough to say that you have a different opinion on what BHM symbolizes and how it has evolved than Nike and myself. Sounds to me that you are looking for a different message than what Nike has chosen for this years shoes. IMO these shoes speak volumes towards social equality and unity which is what Black History Month has been starting to symbolize in addition to pride of his culture..Comment

Re: OS NBA 2k17 Shoe Vault - Discussion
No, I never said they couldn't handle it. I simply said that the move probably had something to do with it. Jordan Brand for instance has ASG shoes that celebrate the Charlotte Hornets, so it stands to reason that they were in production before the announcement. Hypothetically if Nike were planning something really entrenched in the culture there, (like the Gumbo League kicks from the last ASG in NO) I could see them deciding it might be better not to release the shoes in a different city. I think it's a tad ridiculous that ASG gimmick sneakers could put Nike in a bad spot from a business perspective, but that's just me.
As far as BHM goes you're probably right.Last edited by nastradamus; 02-02-2017, 02:31 PM.Comment
