    re: **2K17 - How's your MyLeague/MyGM going?**

I was leary of the Kings since they surprisingly have an 84 overall. I genarrly go for the worst team which would be the Nets at 73, but I jumped in with the Kings and they are a mess.

Boogie is untouchable, hes the franchise. Cut Tolliver and Lawson to make room for Briante Weber (crazy wingspan and perimeter D) and Tony Wroten. (Cant go wrong with a 6'6" PG) Back court was the biggest issue that needed to be addressed so I was willing to give up the depth Toliver brings in exchange for an explosive set of guards.

Executed a 3 team trade to trade Rudy Gay since hes informed the team he will not be returning.

    Kings get:
    Markeif Morris (WAS)
    Nick Young (LAL)

    Lakers get:
    Rudy Gay (SAC)
    Trey Burke (WAS)

    Wiz get:
    Darren Collison (SAC)
    Lou Williams (LAL)

Im content with this young roster, but this one will be tough with us sitting at 1-8 and no 1st rounder for 17'. I dont see us aquiring one either so we'll probably tank (not by design) ,end up with a high 2nd and try to move into the first.

I've also moved Boogie to the 4, his true position, but with such little talent at the 5 I may move him back to Center and have Morris start at 4. That will leave me with 1 Power Forward on the roster. In a bit of a jam because we dont have trade assets other than expiring contracts to aquire depth at the position and I cant talk my self into cutting any of our prospects to make room for signing a free agent.

If you do expansion in MyLeague, is there anyway to be able to get free agents after the expansion draft without controlling all 36 teams? Seems after the draft is over and the season begins, the AI teams gobble up all the free agents leaving you with whatever is left, which isn't very good. Figured I could at least have a shot at free agents, but can't figure out how to do it.

Not accordingly to anything I can find. Monroe signed his qualifying offer with the Pistons in the summer of 2014, thusly making him an unrestricted free agent in 2015. In 2015, he signed with the Bucks. I can't track down a sign and trade between the two teams for him anywhere.

Sadly, no. There are no export functions in MyLeague for rosters.

You could take control of the teams during the offseason for free agent signings, then reset that control to CPU for the regular season under Options>MyLeague Automation. You don't even have to sign everyone, just control all 30+ teams for the first few days of free agency and only have your team make offers to the players you want. Without competing offers they will sign with your team. Once you get everyone you want, just go back to controlling your team and proceed as you normally would.

No, I think you didn't check the league meetings in the offseason and they removed the shot clock

What is your chemistry slider set to? After simulating a season at default 50, 29 of 30 teams had 90% chemistry or higher. No team was below 87%.

And testing just the open 3 pt ratings, there are 26 rated 90+ at the start of a default NBA 2016 season, and 38 rated 90+ at the end of the playoffs.

The default 50 is where I leave it. The game is usually good at penalizing bad teams with bad chemistry -- the worst team in the NBA in my MyLeague is 13-69 and had chemistry at 30 percent, with guys ratings across the board down by 2.

If the team is competitive, the chemistry ratings usually stay in 80s at least. Trades negatively impact chemistry (usually taking at least 6 points off and more depending on how big a star the player is). Chemistry as a team doesn't reflect morale level of all players, either -- players can have morale of "Tolerable" or below and the team can still have chemistry in the 80s.

I've found that these players are usually despondent about the team's record, playing time, or being snubbed for an award (All-star/DOP/MVP etc). I treat those on a case-by-case basis. Players with lower morale will suffer penalties to their ratings, but not sink an entire team on their own, which I find realistic. Teams in the NBA, by and large, tend to get along in my view -- there are guys who want more money or more playing time, but these guys usually don't make a major stink of it. There are exceptions to every rule, however.

Yeah, the 3pt rating is concerning. In-season training effects are definitely to blame as they will inflate the ratings of the open 3pt stat. I've been experimenting to see how to offset that. Setting it to 0 is viable, but it virtually eliminates progression of players in season and means that offseason progression has to be bumped up.

On default settings of 50 progression, 50 regression, players only went up at most 2 points in my test file. I think if we bump that progression up to 57-60, we should get 3-4 points of offseason progression, but that means having to bump up regression as well, which means the veterans in the league will fall off faster. I don't necessarily think the regression slider needs to be as high as the progression, but I tend to keep it close.

I'm continuing to experiment, but killing the in-season training does offset the open 3pt issue. It's just a matter of figuring out how to properly progress players without in-season training and keeping the league balanced.

Aside from the Kings last year, which teams really had poor chemistry that we knew about?

I don't think it's a big problem imo. It'd be nice to have a bigger variation but it's not a huge deal to me.

                        Good points, guys.

Do we think that these open 3pt trends are simply to reflect the wave of basketball currently taking shape? 3pt shooting is the new dunk.

Yes, I think it was a conscious decision by the dev team to make the open 3pt rating one that everyone prioritizes during in-season training.

3pt shooting is the new wave of doing things in the NBA, like passing was to the NFL. The NFL is all about passing now and running the ball 30+ times a game with a high-end running back (who was drafted high) is a "classic" now, it's "old-school" but really it's simply archaic. You can do it, but it's not efficient and the league -- with the rules and the roster-building -- has shifted to passing.

But the NBA isn't the NFL and last season the Cavs showed that the "old-school" way of doing things, with inside-play (LeBron) and tough defense, keeping scores in the 90s and making the game ugly, still worked. They won a title and came back down 3-1.

I feel like the NBA isn't ready to move away from the mid-range/inside-game at the rate the NFL moved away from the running game. The Cavs win has stopped the tide. Yes, 3pt shooting is now more important than ever, but having tons of it doesn't automatically grant you a title -- the Warriors proved that in spades. Had Golden State won, I think I'd be okay with so many players training to be snipers, but their loss only reaffirms my belief that the devs prioritized the open 3pt rating a bit too much.

It needs to be toned down. 26 at the start of the regular season is a fine number and, realistically, there probably shouldn't be more that 30-34 guys in any given year who can knock down shots at such a high clip, as older players will regress as young ones come in. But the in-season training is skewing the open 3pt progression and accelerating it beyond what the regression can account for (regression doesn't have an in-season slider, which I would like to see because some older players really fall off during a long season).
                          Any comments are welcome.

Has anyone found a set of settings / sliders that help with the AI Shooting percentages, especially on the 3 ball.

No matter what settings I use it seems some guys are shooting uncharacteristically high 3pt percentages. Honestly, it's abit much.

Guys like Harden and Damn are over 43% shooting, and it's crazy,. Hell, J.R. Smith is shooting like 47% no matter what sliders or MyLeague settings I use. I've been trying to edit them for a week and can't find a good balance for anything, and I don't want to start a MyLeague where the 3pt shooting stats are absurd. It feels like the sliders almost aren't having an effect.

Any guidance on what you guys have done would be awesome.
