Any ideas how to offer an acceptable amount to contract extension but lower than was asked? I am going through contract extension for a 7th man in the team rated at 77, 23 years old SF and he's asking 22.98 million for 2 years. He's not even a starter. How do you negotiate your contracts?

Has someone also dabbled on the business side? Gate price, merchandise, etc? Or you guys just ignore it?

Yea I've been realizing the game kind of just throws ridiculous contracts at regular rotation guys. Sometimes it kills the league for me in the offseason..not being able to send certain stars to certain places because there are two or three bench guys making 10mil+. Personally I just edit the contracts make them somewhat more realistic based on the production.

On another note, going into Year 3 of my Sonics ML. (30 team control however)

Durant finally wins his title with the Warriors after losing to LeBron year 1. Now the Spurs beefed up their roster adding CP3 and most recently Demarcus Cousins to combat the Warriors dynasty.
Rookie of the year was Lonzo Ball (14/10) however I feel like Dennis Smith Jr for the LA Aces had an incredible year (22/5/5).

Other changes/things I'm looking forward to

        -Grizzlies moved to Vancouver
-Clippers were gutted after year 1 (Griffin to SEA, DJ to Chicago, CP3 to Spurs)
-Knicks finally in full rebuild mode for KP6. Melo joined the bulls this offseason.
-Celtics/ Bulls / Bucks look to take over the eastern conference throne with LeBron declining( losing finals and production drop). But will they?
        - Will PG13 join the lakers and what's in store for him playing in one of the most dominant western conference possibly ever seen.

As for the Sonics, we just missed the playoffs last year and with Jessie Fang (created player in he ball/fultz draft) proving he can be the man averaging a little less then 20 points and 7 assist I think it's time to start phase two. Griffin underperformed last season but with Otto Porter and this new rook I think we can make some noise and eventually hold the throne of the west...few more pieces and years though.

Nowadays 10mil is basically your 2015 MLE contract.

            Question for MyLeague guys;

How can I get a player to opt out when he has a player option? I'm using the Pacers and in real life CJ Miles is opting out of his option to return for $4.77M, probably less than half what he could make in free agency.

But in game he takes this every time. Any ideas?

You could edit his contract to a team option, i think. Other than that idk if there's a specific way to make a player opt out himself.

                  Re: **2K17 - How's your MyLeague/MyGM going?**

I started off my Larkers save yesterday. I decided to make a custom roster where I edited D'angelo's potential to a 93. It's kind of cheating, but I like his game IRL and think he can become a big time scorer in the league. I also tweaked a few stats on the other guys, but not anything drastic. Gave Larry Nance a bump in his potential and defence, while also giving a better potential to Ingram (he's been impressive since the all-star break). I also edited Luke Walton quite a bit, made him a small-ball coach with an A in potential, B in offense and C+ in defense.

I played a few regular season, just to test out the players, but simmed almost the entire regular season. We overachieved like crazy! Got the sixth seed in the west. DLoading was huge, winning Most Improved off of 21 PPG and 7 assists. Clarkson won Sixth Man of the Year coming off the bench with 18 points and 6 assists.

The playoffs was a success as well. We beat the Jazz in six games, but Randle went down with a broken rib in game 5, so we got swept by the Rockets in the second round. Nobody could guard Harden... Russell and Clarkson obviously had no shot, Ingram was getting beat off the dribble constantly and I even tried throwing Metta and Nwaba in the game - normally they get zero minutes - but whatever production they limited Harden from, they just took away from our offensive firepower.

During the season I traded pretty much all of my draft picks + Mozgov, Deng and Brewer for what resulted in being - in summary - Wayne Ellington to run the 2 in season 1 and the Hornets' 17' 1st round pick. They were looking awful at trade deadline, and I was targeting Malik Monk, so I went for it. Unfortunately, they managed to turn their season around and ended just outside of playoff contention. I only needed a "3 n' D" shooting guard to complete my rotation, so I was praying the pick was enough to land Malik Monk.

The Hornets pick converted to the number six overall pick in the draft, which gave me a little more hopeful. Markelle, Lonzo, Josh Jackson and Fox were definitely being picked over him, and then there's Tatum, Dennis Smith Jr etc. I manage to get Malik while the bitter rivals in Boston draft Markelle Fultz. Btw. How amazing is the Celtics organization? They're already a contender, but is safe for another 15 years with Fultz, Jaylen etc. I hope I get to battle it out with them in the finals down the line.

With Monk, our main rotation for the future is secured, and it's a damn good one:

D'angelo Russell is the main guy running the point. He's our scorer and our distributor. Hopefully he can one day become a 25-28 PPG scorer while also dishing out 8-10 assists. That's what I'm hoping from him.

Malik Monk is our starting shooting guard already as a rookie. I hope he can become a Klay Thompson kind of guy - he's a great shooter, and not a bad defender, but that's where we need to work. I need him to become able to lockdown the opponents best guard.

Brandon Ingram wasn't starting in the first season. He played decent minutes off the bench, but Nick Young started as Brandon was too average in all areas. His scoring has gotten better now though, and his defense is getting quite impressive. Those long arms really gets steals when he's getting in to passing lanes. He can kind of do it all - right now I'm working on his strength, obviously, as well as his post game.

Larry Nance Jr was meant to come off the bench, but he was complaining a lot, so I had to go all out on the small ball thing and both Randle and Nance Jr in the starting lineup. He's a really good defender, really athletic and I'm working on bettering his jumpshot so he can stretch the floor a little better.

Julius Randle plays the center. He's a little undersized and not a good defender to begin with, so that created a few issues. However, as he is now playing the five, I can ignore his perimeter defense and work on his inside D instead, where he is already getting better. Offensively he's a beast though. He can jet up and down the floor, handle the rock, pass it, dunk it, rebound and be a great pick n' roller. He is basically Draymond Green on offense, which is great for a small, but fast, shooting team.

Off the bench we have our perennial Sixth Man of the Year Contender, Jordan Clarkson. He plays heavy minutes and covers both the 1 and the 2 spot off the bench, which means I only play with three guard players. I'll keep it real simple with him: he's a volume scorer and ball handler off the bench. He's just a bully when facing the opponents' second units.

The remaining three guys on the second unit: Nick Young, Darrell Arthur and Tarik Black.

Dynasty in the making, the Lakers is great again!

Found out that players with Extremely Important in the Salary rating demands very high salary regardless of position or contributions. So moving forward I'll trade these guys on their final year.

For a long player with Somewhat Important salary demand, play with $$, flat back front, player option, and NTC as well. Booker wants 5-year, 118 million and I gave it. He declined and said he is ok with 111 mill. I immediate re offered. He declined and said he wants just 111 mill. I got confused. After many experiments, I found he wants it flat, not back 4.5%. All in all I saved about $7 mill.

                          MyGM Spurs Year 3

Pau Gasol said he will retire after the season. I offered head coaching job. He declined. The press asked about it. I said I offered assistant coaching job and Pau declined. Larry Drew, current assistant coach in a 2-year contract, went ballistic and his tantrums dropped his trust level to 43.

In off-season, I saw Pau as one of the head coaching candidates! Rated C- C- B. Then, there's Dirk Novitski. Rated A- A- with A Potential. So I fired Larry Drew cordially. He's ok and thanked me for it. I signed Dirk as assistant coach and after 4 days he agreed.

So it's possible to fire and hire with staff having better stats. You just need to do it off-season and not within.

Maybe somebody can answer me a question here. I just got 2k17 a couple days ago because it was on sale, And I'm running a my league with an expansion franchise, and I have salary cap turned off and I have hard cap turned off. So why am I still being capped on what I can offer free agents? In 2K16 and 2k15 if I turned the salary cap and hard cap off, I could offer huge contracts but I can't seem to do that now. why?

                              MyGM Season 4 2019-2020 Spurs
My team is quite set right now. I just got three free agents I can develop. I acquired unsigned rookies, R2-P1 and R2-P5. Not certain why they were drafted but not signed.

Third game in and we have assistant coach Dirk for my team playing against his former team the Mavericks.
