I am going to employ this as well. I am loving this game beyond belief. I don't want to fuddle with the sub menu anymore. I know the rotations that I want for every team I play. I will set them up for each opponent and be done with it.

The more I play this game the more addicted I am becoming. It is truly incredible. Quite possibly the best sports game I have ever played as a total package from features, AI, presentation and depth of franchise....just amazing.

I agree the game has great potential to be the best basketball game ever but are we playing the same game? The AI is beyond bad and makes the game close to unplayable for me if you really know how basketball should played for casual fans its a great game hardcore 2k and basketball fans this is a dissapointment until issues are resolved

Loving the game but this was just too awesome not to take a video of. Waiters comes in to give Kanter some space. I was controlling olynyk and had my forearm on Kanter next thing you know I'm under the net lolhttps://youtu.be/hzExn0G6YgY

The Dev's are reading all these posts haha and making nice updates to the game with whatever tuning they are doing. I played a couple games last night and they updated the and one success rate I am almost certain of it. It was way too high now it is much better. I mentioned it in one of the posts.

Once the fourth patch rolls out I think the game is probably set.

If they patch or increase the speed in which plays develop and set defensive settings for all CPU teams as well as myplayer the game is pretty much set from a gameplay side offline or user vs. user.

HOF Sim difficulty leave all shooting sliders but make CPU off/def consistency at 50 is about the most realistic difficulty game play I have had in the series. Not unrealistic CPU cheese but realistic difficulty. It took me a while to figure it out but I think the consistency slider is like a rating boost anything over 50 and they are playing above rating. I can beat the CPU with that boost but the CPU doesn't play realistic to me. I notice in multiple games you start to see the average and below average players become great shooters and it starts to get unrealistic at 50 consistency it is money.

I also tested for shooting CPU vs. CPU they work for shooting

This video has summed up my night and any attempt I've had playing up tempo. I can't do anything. Murray is getting pushed around like a ragdoll leaving everyone wide open. Every pass gets intercepted by psychic defender. Every pick is stopped by psychic defender. Dribble getting cut off by psychic defender. Even wide open derozan gets stuck in an animation and is blocked outta nowhere by porzingas. The CPU has none of these problems hucking passes inside for easy score after easy score. My ai team mates are absolutely useless on defense. It's shocking. Game ends with Knicks shooting 64% I lose 88-64 not feeling like I had a chance. Not fun.

              Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

I love how 2k completely revamped their gameplay and the physics, sounds, presentation eveything and didn't rest of their laurels. They could have released the same basic game with a roster update and new story mode and still gotten a 9 but they didn't do that.

I swear a lot of how you play and what you are seeing is due to pace. I don't even mean that in the straightforward sense. It's a battle. If you play this game like past years and just mindlessly do the same things over and over the game will beat you down and make you hate it.

You actually have to play pace and watch what is going on and feel your way through it like a real basketball game. It's not even scripted. I can see why people are saying that but it's actually the opposite from past years that way. You can defend plays and watch the plays certain teams run like their real life counterparts and they actually play differently from game to game too. You can still come out and push the tempo. Some teams are going to fight against that more than others.

I feel like I'm actually defending steph curry with his high arcing shot. He has a high arc to his shot and you have to defend it as such. He has a quick release too and will find holes sitting behind picks etc. Get in the lane and draw contact or carve out space like a little guy and get rebounds. Durant pushes off to get free in the open court. GS sets those high screens. Klay you have to stay with him and he will shoot over you or drive. You have to stay with him and harass him a bit and not allow him the ball. He's also a tall defender and you have to take that into account.

I'm not saying some percentages arent off on certain difficulties either. There are some graphical glitches as well but the game seems very polished to me. I haven't seen a whole lot wrong with it. It's going to be harder if you are playing hall of fame. I'm playing on allstar and the difficulty seems pretty perfect to me. I guess it could be tweaked but I hope they don't make it too easy or at the sacrifice of the variety I'm seeing. I love how defensive breakdowns occur. They usually occur for a reason. Because of the play being run or the player etc. You have to gameplan for it. Crowds react realistically and everything. the commentary is also amazing. The game can still improve. I for one would rather real coaches giving real time advice that is less scripted and stuff like that. I like the tnt announcers but even more variety would be good.

I am seeing so much variety from game to game and like I'm playing the real thing and really have to play teams differently and utilize my strengths as well. Teams go on runs. You can chip away at leads. Learn how teams play etc.

I've yet to see a team roll over but I'm also not getting that big a lead either. I have seen teams make comebacks and go on runs but usually its a 10 point lead or so. It depends on the team. Playing GS vs playing the knicks is very different.

This game very easily could have still gotten a 9 from most major media outlets releasing the same thing but they didn't do that. This game is truly deserving of a 9 imo. 9.5. It basically redefines and defines what I've wanted from games for a while now in a lot of ways. Something just didn't sit right there with me when games are getting 9's and are basically not really that. Good technically for what they are but not really pushing the envelope at all. More concerned with releasing partial games and milkage and dlc and questionable business practices and stuff like that. This is a standalone game that really improves itself with very little sacrifice at the other side of the spectrum.

                Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

There's a difference between bug fixing and releasing a new story mode and better graphics and games getting 9's on technical merits is all I'm saying and we wonder why these games become stagnant and so dumbed down. Actual development is something else entirely. 2k17 accomplishes that. Everyone knows this is an issue too and games get 9's when they aren't doing anything overly new. More relying on dlc and microtransactions and qustionable business practices. Something just doesnt sit right there with me. That isn't greatness. 2k did it right this year.

Outside of 2k shutting down their servers I've always felt they are one of the better companies around. Mafia, Borderlands, Spec Ops the line, NBA 2k, Bioshock. xcom, civilization. 2ksports is their own studio but as a publisher they have good variety and quality and try new things. They've bought really good companies too. They have Sid Meier. They dont have the money to back new ips overly. That's usually companies like Sony who do that. They do though. Battleborn and Evolve are that. They do give alternatives to the usual bs out there. If i dont like gta overly and want a more polished mature storyline i can play mafia. Same with Madden. People are killing the strategy genre 2k has civ and xcom. Overwatch is overhyped and bleh. Battleborn kind of a miss. Go down the line but that's basically what they are built on is giving an alternative. Good job 2k.

2k manages to keep quality and do new things. Bioshock is probably the most non typical shooter around. I know when I buy something from 2k its a quality product at least. They dont have a lot of shovelware and as much of that stuff as other companies.

I was getting worried they were becoming stagnant and didnt get it themselves but this is done right.

Better than ubisoft just scattering random stuff around the map to say they have content and calling it a game. Games like that are not very fun.

2k is still a game company moreso than most I feel.

I dont mind 2k shutting down their servers overly either as long as they are improving their games. They cant keep them up forever. It costs money. If 2k17 was basically the same as 2k15 with bug fixes and a new storymode thats different. I also dont mind they bundled bioshock. It's 3 quality games. Its better than some companies and their hidden agendas like activision releasing diablo 3 a million times at full price to get it right. 2k doesnt do that stuff too often and definately less of a focus on that stuff. They have microtransactions but how they implement it isnt as the sacrifice of the standalone game.

This game is done right I feel this year. the last few games imo were good technically but the series was getting stagnant. I was ready to just keep 2k15 and felt wronged having to pay $60 for what basically amounts to bug fixes and a roster update and a new storymode and having them shut down the servers and not support it. This game was worth it.

Ignorance is bliss. And while I am not a basketball expert, I know how basketball is played and follow the NBA very closely, as I am an original Heat season ticket holder......and at the same time I realize this is a video game.

I am having far too much fun to look for negatives. If something is truly wrong or not working...it will show itself the more I play. And so far after a dozen games inside my test MyLeague.....this game is firmly entrenched as one of the greatest sports games I have ever played. Bar none.

The AI adapts and will exploit you. Teams play like their real life counterparts. Players act and play like their real life counter parts. I am blown away. I had played 2K11 for 5 years....praying one day I would get a game that topped it in terms of making a huge jump. I did enjoy 2K15 but ultimately it got stale. 2K16 for me was a huge let down in terms of gameplay and control. 2K17 has awesome control. I don't feel sucked into animations nearly as much and again the new dribble system to me....fantastic. The depth, the features, the franchise mode....it is amazing.

While you may be an ultimate basketball expert and are looking for real life.....I approach this as a video game first....so fun is what I look for.

And fun is what this game provides, with the best virtual franchise mode and presentation package I have ever seen. Just simply amazing.

I think the AI in this game is so much better than past years at the sacrifice of very little. The issue is people want to fix everything and the AI becomes dumb not smarter. That isn't development. We wonder why games are becoming less fun it's because the AI is so dumb and scripted.

This game is so much more realistic and fun than past years. This is by far the best AI I've ever seen in a sports game. Players go hot and cold. If every shot was going in that should and every play was played perfectly that wouldn't be good.

It's actually realistic AI too players play like their real life selves. It's not broken. Also love the new controls and how there are 3 different pass buttons. You can adjust the arc of your pass etc.

The CPU AI is definitely better. I played a game against the Celtics last night. I was 3-0 in the games I had played in the season with my Wolves and I Was a little tired. Needless to say I wasn't the most focused and they made me paid. I got my butt handed to me in a 24 point loss.

The game i've fallen in love is now gone back to 2k16 herky jerky gameplay and so dissapointed post patch.

Gamespeed is off unnatural post patch
Passes going thru bodies at a supersonic speed post patch
Shooting lol shooting is 2k15 post patch

Everything is ruined for me as far as gameplay goes. I hate patches.

I swear if Bill Cartwright was in this game people would try to fix his shot. Same with Shawn Marion and guys like that and ruin players like this. this is a serious problem with people today.

It actually is a simulation. Players miss shots. If everyone is hitting every shot people think they should that is not simulation. Or playing perfect defense every play.

Players shoot the ball differently. Height matters. Plays matter. All of it. This is what I love about this game is those things and how players actually play is taken into account.

I was just reading how the nets and rondae hollis jefferson needs to fix his shot. The nets are going to be forced to actually have to get better and it's not about that. normally people wouldnt even play him and would try to fix him which is the issue.

The nba has already screwed up many players because of stuff like that.

Hey have you seen a single game where the AI and you have scored a 30% percentage from the field yet??? Were talking about stats. Not how the game looks. Real stats or realistic stats is what I want. The AI is broken on our team. The AI is broken
