Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
2K should let us download and keep different patched versions of the game. The game at launch was amazing to me. Then slowly but surely it got muckier to the point where it feels like I'm playing in mud. Just let me go back to Day1 and I'd be cool. If we were able to go back to previous versions it would also give 2K a better idea of just exactly what patched version of gamplay gamers prefer. It's a win win.Comment

I like the idea, like when I was having fun with 2K16 offline and then their last few patches screwed everything up. I was desperate to reinstate the game by deleting and reinstalling it. Obviously, it didnt work.
having non-technical user maintaining the patch versions is a challenge. As much as I would luv to endorse yor idea, I think long term wise it would be better off to have two separate gameplay for online and offline modes. They can nerf whatever is necessary on the online mode like myteam, mypark whatsover, but keep the offline mode as intact as possible.
As for 2K17, I cant find enthusiasm bcos the rosters are way off. MJ looks awful, Ron Baker (the last I checked in Feb) was one of those random rookie faces,
signature shooting form and free throws are mostly out of sync. Realism is damn off.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The fact that this game takes upwards of 25 minutes just to load to the main menu (then of course load into a game which always leads to the "there is an update please return to the main menu and queue another 5 minutes) makes the game completely broken.
Hands down, the worst game experience I've had in the last 20 years or so. To make it worse is the absolute joke that 2K calls support.
I also have to wonder why OS writer's don't take 2K to task at all. They only seem to praise with puff pieces. Very disappointing.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
2K17's awful gameplay already had this game in contention for worst 2K game ever but this whole debacle of not being able to load the game just sealed the deal.
Seriously, who do I have to restart my game 5-6 times before I can get it to fully load to the main menu? Why am I looking at this Paul George screen for 10+ mintues. My God I try to hop on and get one quick game in and it takes me about 30 minutes before I can successfully load everything and by then I've wasted all my time.
What an awful, awful game. Worst 2K ever made.
EDIT: About 20 minutes later, a million restarts later and the game STILL hasn't loaded. Pathetic. How do you release a game like this?Last edited by Hustle Westbrook; 03-28-2017, 12:01 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I've complained enough. People know what I think of this game but 2K17 is the worst 2K game ever made. They should not be proud of this game. I will skip 2K18 this year and I don't feel no remorse. 2K let me and others down this year. I do not care how great 2K18 is I will not buy it. I will support NBA Live 18 no matter how bad it is because 2K has to learn that you can't release a terrible game and get away with it. My money will be spent on other games that's deserving of my attention, e.g. MLB the Show 17. It's been 6 months and enough is enough. The game isn't going to get better. It gets worse by the minute with the updates. No patches in sight. They don't care about this game anymore, so why should I?Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I know people lobbied for the game to be more challenging or whatever. But I'm sorry, this is the worse 2K game I've ever seen. And I'm not one to come in the forum and bash games.
The fastbreak is horrible. Guys don't go run to the basket. They stop running or go to the corner and stand.
CPU on ball defense is grossly overdone. Even with Kyrie or any great ball handler against some low rated unheard of player the defender is like a magnet.
Guys get caught from behind in the open floor. No matter how fast or how open they are. Ridiculous.
Too many turnovers.
Sloppy basketball all around.
This has been my favorite game series for many years. This year its horrendous. I've never been so frustrated playing basketball.Last edited by statum71; 03-29-2017, 01:06 AM.The Lord is my shepard.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
2k has always had a problem with the ping pong effect that is known as turnovers. This is because the collision animations and aspects are ridiculously high for all in game situations when playing the CPU. MP especially. This year is the worst because now the CPU creates contact and stops your momentum from behind you. It's a crying shame because even "NBA Live" got it right with the contact animations.

Can't delete patches. You lose all save game data, so we're stuck.Last edited by JayStarr; 04-03-2017, 09:31 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
This years 2K really pushed me away from the series. I don't like the game at all. The direction that 2K is taking the franchise is is just not for me(my park, and my career focused). The gameplay isn't even near where it needs to be. At this point i'm praying the other basketball game is at least decent. If it is i'll buy that and never look back.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
My final impression of this game, and my overall outlook on 2k as a series since moving to this gen, is that this game is just over ambitious. When they made the jump to ps4/xbox1, I think they got a little carried away on adding so much to the game, rather than building a solid foundation first. This is obviously a very deep game, however the execution of all of the additions leave a lot to be desired because the core gameplay and fundamentals are still lacking.
For instance, Czar has added nearly everything you could dream of for offensive plays and sets, but it's hindered by slowly developing plays and too much physicality from the defense. Instead of having proper defensive rotations, they compensate the defense with inhuman reflexes and recovery speed, and overpowered on ball defense. Defense is as much about position as it is physicality. It ruins the flow of the game as it is right now.
I am certain that the guys who are employed by 2k and working on this game have an incredible amount of passion and basketball knowledge. But what I am starting to think is that this game is just too complex, too many layers, too many moving parts, that makes it incredibly difficult to bring it all together, and as a result they are resorting to too many band aid "fixes" to try and keep the gameplay balanced, but it's thrown everything out of whack.
I wish the team the best of luck going forward, but I think these guys are in over their heads this gen. I would personally like to see the focus being on the core, fundamental gameplay before continuing to add layers. I'm not going to add a second story to my house when the first story still needs a lot of work.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I get so upset a the series sometimes because I love it so much, I tend to say stuff i don't mean entirely. I've been playing since the first one on the Dreamcast. This is me typing honestly about what i feel is a major issue in this game(NBA 2K17).The defense really needs to be overhauled. Rotations need to be a key focus, so that the on ball d can work in a more realistic manner. On ball d is something 2K has never been able to get right, despite having the help D rotations operating correctly for the most part in other games.
Here's the thing. The game is too black and white when it comes to getting past a defender. Either you trigger an ankle breaker animation, or you don't get past your man. We all know that this is he farthest thing from realistic, and the reason why all dribble moves are not effective. You should be rewarded for making a defender angle his stance. You should also be rewarded for getting a step on a guy. I can't remember the last time i blew past a defender(even a slow footed big).
If rotations were in place the way they should be, then they could ease up on the over aggressive man to man defense. I just feel like they're not focusing on the right things(The core fundamentals of the game). NBA live 14 (hate to mention the competitor) Had dribbling right. If you got a step on a guy, 9 out of 10 times you got a hip ride animation. It felt fair and realistic. This in my opinion is the biggest downfall of 2K17. The defense is awful. It needs to be the main gameplay focus for 2K18 or the game will be doomed on arrival.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Good impression man .The game has taken too many backwards steps since 2k11 for me to consider it a must buy first day purchase any longer. I agree something happened when it moved to next gen but 2k15 on next gen was not a bad game. The gameplay is so unbalanced and the "appropriate" physicality of the game has been absent this year. I also can't get over some of these player models..how some got out the door is incredible..I truly hope this game turns in a better direction..Just follow the 2k11 blueprint and roll with it.Comment
