If the CPU gets the ball down low near the basket, or if they get an offensive rebound under the basket, you may as well just forget it. Your CPU teammate will foul all the time, before you even have a chance to switch, putting them at the line and many times it's for an and-1.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I hate to say it but the gameplay was better pre patches and tuning. Shooting now feels awful and sluggish like 2k16 and the ball handling and control also went downhill. I feel like I'm playing 2k16 all over again, and I'm wondering what is the point of this iteration.Comment

The fouls and one on one interactions bother me a lot. Hopefully it can be tuned.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Ok so what I did was I decided to start fresh. So with most NBA 2k games they always give us our sliders all at 50 points straight down for both user & AI, but not this year for some reason. This year they gave us their own sliders. So what I did was I went back to the making the sliders ALL at 50 points for both user & AI so I can get a good feeling where things needed to get adjusted. I like to keep things simple. Now it seems the game plays pretty good. Well not good, but pretty decent compared to what I been playing....
So everything's at 50 points. All I did was bring the offense sliders for both user & AI all the way down to 20. Now I finally have my grind and gritty games that I love. My way of playing is not for everyone, but were all different. What's so crazy is the AI will always attempt these crazy 3 point shots and still miss. Why are there so many three point attempts this year from the AI? This game this year is so offensive that I had to bring the offense down to freaking 20!!!!!!
The game plays pretty good for me now with games ending at 30 or 40 something points. With low percentage in 30's or 40's

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
What's it been 2 weeks into the game? It's getting to a point where i find myself not really wanting to continue playing this game. Basketball just isn't being respected in the right manner. Help D isn't anywhere near the way it should be, which is why the on ball D also isn't where it's suppose to be (sticky defenders that play D way above their ability to mask the poor help d logic). The game just feels unpolished.
One thing that i've realized over the past couple of weeks of playing is that the movement mechanics in this game are responsible for guys being left open when they shouldn't be left open. I ran to a spot on the court and stopped, a second later Dillard took 2 more steps past the spot i originally stopped at. This isn't cool. And it happens so much that i often though that the cpu was just doing it to cheat until i realized it happened to CPU players also.
I want yo to look at this video and tell me why would Bradley Beal do this?
The scary part is that sometimes this same exact thing happens to me as the user.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The more i play the more Im so torn on this game. Sometimes its just amazing but when things are bad its just bad. Crazy shooting percentages ive fixed easily adjusting shooting sliders. What i cant fix are the physical interactions leading to brutal ai defense and the psychic ai defending. Ive spent alot of time watching slow motion replays of CPU defenders moving in front of my dribble, usually crossover or spin before my player actually moves. Ive also watched defenders jump to deflect or intercept a pass before my players pass animation even starts. Here's the thing though, the outcome in the big picture is correct. Im getting realistic stats mostly by the end of the game. Its just the way the game is getting the desired sim statistics feels cheap almost or unfair. I dont know what the solution is but i feel animations definetly need some reworking. The game needs to generate how turnovers happen in a more realistic fashion instead of basically forcing certain outcomes in pursuit of realistic statistics. I dunno im no expert at this game and maybe thats part of the problem but sometimes this game can be super frustrating.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Anyway, it provides an ugly brand of basketball for me to play. I'm just patiently awaiting on a patch or a good set of sliders.Florida State Seminoles

I played a game that this was constantly happening, which resulted in me cheesing against the cpu to pull out a win. Most disappointing experience that I have had with this game. The tuning update and patches have made it worse.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I'm 2k all day and Simnation forever, so it really breaks my heart to say this:
I'm leaning towards being done with this year's game. I love basketball and there are a lot of things I love about 2k17, but there are more things that I hate. I was very open on the show with the Czar regarding how much I hated 2k15. In some ways, 2k17 is uglier.
The warping, sliding, speed boosts, terrible AI on both sides of the ball, loose ball magnetism by the opponent AI(which is really comical in ProAM), loose ball obliviousness by your teammates, a lack of control...It all just makes me feel like this game sucks. And I'm dominating. I just played against Kawhi Leonard and was disgusted by all of his warping and cheating. I still made him go cold by blocking his shot, stealing from him, contesting shots and I shot 70% against him and we won by 20.
It's not about winning and losing. It's about control and honest, balanced gameplay, which 2k17 struggled with out of the box and seems to be getting worse with passes. We asked, (in my case specifically), to have the absurd balloon pass taken out of the game. That's it. That one, really slow, obviously wrong pass. What happens? Now we have several bullet passes that are impossible to react to(literally, because ball travel speed-input latency+animation startup=2k PLS!).
I know this wasn't on purpose. I know they're all working hard. I know their schedule was unfairly(and unwisely) shortened. Thing is, I don't believe that this can all be fixed with the devs quietly reading some of our posts and then bunkering up and patching things. I think they need stronger engagement with the community so that we can specify exactly what the good, knowledgable players feel will result in better game balance across all modes.
This isn't about what I'll do, because who cares and frankly my editors decide how much I can draw comics and how much I can game and I'm good with that. This is about honesty and letting the folks at 2k know that in my opinion, this isn't good enough. The defense isn't doing some things that hardcore players are nitpicking on, they're doing absurd things that anyone who's ever heard of basketball would laugh at. When that's the situation, you've gotta engage your community so we can all work towards getting the beautiful game that could be 2k17 out from behind the terrorist exploit fest holding it hostage.
Unless either something urgent pops up or we start up the new season of SimHangout, I'm done with the boards. I got a lotta work to do and there are a lot of games I've been ignoring while drawing ROMULUS and my Marvel work.
I genuinely hope things get better, but unless the devs start engaging the community more, these boards are just going to be thread after thread of complaints and deservedly so. I can't be around here for that.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Couldn't agree more. The game just feels totally broken.
I'll start playing the game, but I'm having no fun. I won't even make it thru a full game because I get so annoyed that I have to turn it off.
So many things need to be fixed. This is the worst I've seen in a 2K game in some time. Makes me sad.Comment
