    Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

I have fairley realistic games in my gm suprisingly besides the broken defense cheese that happens almost every other play the cpu teams around the leauge are playing like they should for the most part and realistic fg % n ppg looks about right and i had to go through every player in my custom roster to update actual ratings and accesory that 2k team lacks. For people with high shooting % problem i kind of worked it out i think. I have mid range and 3 point & close on 50 and inside shot on 48 with contact shot on 45 and my games range from 41% to highest ive noticed 52% average around 46% depending how you play defense with defensive awareness at 80 and on ball at 75. Close to 50% of the shots made by thr cpu will be wideopen cause of the broken defense but theres nothing you can do about that until 2k puts a patch thats actually useful unlike every other patch they put out so far. Overrall i feel like i put more time into trying to fix the game then actually playing it hoping changes are made

My guys were at least 20% quicker and 50% quicker off the first step. 3's were raining with Mayor McCheesebrook (that's my own nickname for Russell Westbrook for those wondering), and he wasn't even the one driving, Roberson, Oladipo, everybody getting in on it.

In short, despite the appearance that the preset Sliders control the sliders only, that is a complete lie. The game style and flow is entirely dependent upon which preset you edit from.
Yep. If you edit Pro sliders and put them at Superstar levels, the game will still play like Pro but with adjustments. Vice versa for Superstar sliders moving them to Pro levels. The game still plays like Superstar but with the adjustments.

BTW, I like to call Westbrook Teenwolf lol.

Haha nice. We always called him Cheesebrook, but since he added a jumper, he’s become nigh unstoppable, so I started giving him the title Mayor since he’s mayor of cheese town.

For what it’s worth, I am playing a really nice game right now, I started on all star, moved sliders where I wanted them, and moved speed and acceleration down to 40 each. Guys are not super exploding anymore and the game plays really great. Tough layups don’t fall against bigger guys but still fall with a size advantage, a good shot rating isn’t impossible to come by anymore. Maybe I’ll post the slider set after a few more tests. I like it so far though.

You don’t care where I sent this from.

Its unfortunate but as soon as you find that perfect slider set, the patch will come lol.

Fix one thing, break an unrelated thing.

Nevermind the starting on all star approach, I’m going to take your advice and start on pro.

Im still trying to figure out if I like this version of NBA 2k (NBA2k17) or not.
this year may be a result of too much change and not enough polish.

dont want to say Im disappointed, but Im not as satisfied with this years version when compared to years past.

As kind of a last ditch effort I decided to try the game on pro and try to tweak sliders to make it more difficult. The game plays so much more natural and organic it's not even the same game as on all star. I have tweaked the sliders a fair amount but it's still a tad too easy but I feel like I'm close. I actually have hope again that this game might be the game I want it to be.

This entry pass that Giannis makes at the 1:40 mark. Last year it was in the game (triangle on PS4). This year they inexplicably took it out. Please put it back in.

Stick with it. I feel the ratings play more of a part than artificial boost that help the cpu in the upper game modes. It's really about house rules to. If you play the game like a real NBA team, you will get realistic results. You can cheese more but you must discipline yourself.

I've played 6 games on pro. I can say that without a doubt pro is the level the game plays the smoothest and most realistic. I've managed to figure out really good sliders that has made the game very challenging and at least as hard as superstar level for last years game.

Yeah, I played a game and a half yesterday and it went really well. The CPU went on an "unstoppable" run and jumped out to an early lead, but I slowly but surely closed up the gap, then Lillard and McCollum were commanding so much attention in the 4th that Aminu and Plumlee closed out the game like pros and I was able to get separation IN THE 4TH QUARTER. It was also nice to see that as the CPU was getting down more and more, they started playing the passing lanes and playing much riskier defense, going for on ball steals, and as a result, the paint was wide open and good ball movement let me get some easy buckets. Appropriate stats pretty much across the board, pull up mid range were falling, maybe not as much as I think they should have been, but it wasnt' egregious like before.

That was the 9th ranked team against the 8th, so an even matchup until the end, seemed good, and the appropriate guys took over the game, not like the games where I've been more or less forced into shoving it into the paint to keep the score close and Ed Davis ends up leading the league in scoring.

I'm going to take a really bad team and play a really good team and then vice versa and see how it goes. The percentages were right on though, so I expect it to go pretty well.

Just to let you guys know in case you're wondering, I put the user speed and acceleration to 35 and the CPU to 40. It prevented guys like Draymond Green from beating guards down on the dribble but still let Lillard and faster guys get a break every once in a while. I also put the defense strength ratings (layup and shot) to 70 (which really lowered the And 1's) and the bump sensitivity to 35. The game seems very slowed down but fast enough when it needs to be.

Bunsel or Cujo, you mind sending me a PM on what tweaks you made to the sliders on pro? Or if you have them uploaded. Halfway thru the second half on Superstar is like a totally different game. I keep taking a stab it by changing my defensive settings, calling timeouts, & overall focusing in on the game but the CPU keeps eliminating any & all of my strategies.

Yeah, I'll post them here in a spoiler. I'm not all the way through tweaking yet, but I played the Warriors with the Sixers and stayed with them for a while, but was down 12 at the half, then played with the same teams but I was the Warriors and was up on the Sixers quickly without much trouble. The fast break points are still a little high for the CPU based upon a high number of steals, but that may be me still adjusting to the gameplay changes for this year's game.

The sliders are pretty simple, I find that the less you can change with 2k the better. too much fine tuning always manifests itself in other ways. Which is why I didn't take a 3 pronged attack at fixing the And 1's. Just changed defense.
