Re: what happened to dribbling?
I have a 6'5 pm pg and the defence seems even stickier post patch, whilst cpu can get around me by just moving because I have to react what I'm seeing, not telepathically know what they're about to do.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Haven't checked this thread for a while but appreciate your breakdown of the broken inputs and will try that out, though I'm similarly loathe to get used to something that should get patched.
One thing I've noticed is that a running double crossover is possible the intuitive way if done super-quickly. That is, just flicking right-left (or vice-versa) pretty much as quickly as possible, with no regard to when the first crossover is triggered/completed. It seems to buffer and pull off the double move.
The only problem with this is that it leaves your guy more or less just running straight ahead so is not of much use in getting a good angle, only in maybe getting defender to go wrong way. But, even that limited usefulness probably never really happens because the two moves occur so quickly that the opponent can't really react to it, even the wrong way.
Last year, it was really nice how one could pull the move and get a slightly angled trajectory that was enough to blow by a defender that didn't anticipate the change in path.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Could anyone tell me which dribble move would trigger off dribble shooting?
My question might sound weird but by looking at the shooting bar of my shot creator SG with 90+ shooting off dribble and ~70+ mid/3 range, the only time the shooting bar extends, i.e. shooting off dribble kicks in, is when I shoot while moving and I does not have to make any dribble to make it works. If the last action I do right before shooting is not moving using left stick then it would never trigger.
It seems more like shooting off running than off dribble to me.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Im confused Mike. What button commands are mapped to dribble moves? Is it an alternate controller settings thing?[OS Vets NBA 2K10 Champion]

Re: what happened to dribbling?
The bug I fixed was an issue with dribble move queuing. Basically, when doing a moving cross or tween legs move, a second combo move input thought the ball was still in the previous hand (so a queued crossover would come through as a hesi, killing the double cross.) I always do my combo moves really quickly so I never saw the issue. Pretty nasty bug though... thanks jyoung for catching it.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Not sure I understand your question. Dribble moves are always mapped to the Right Stick.

On a side note, were you able to decrease the amount of greens in the latest patch or was the shooting sliders your best hack at them pending the 2k18 fix of a player having to be hot in order to achieve a green release?
Lastly, while I have your attention, an elephant in the room question that I've always wanted answered by a dev is why the ps4 shows the on ball indicator icon when playing head to head and yet doesn't show on the xbox when playing head to head? Is this a bug or done intentionally? Please answer this question Mike as it's confounded my friends and I who play in a 30 man MLO that requires on ball defense and yet we cannot verify because of the lack of on ball indicator showing on xbox.

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Ahh got it. Thought they were saying dribbling was mapped to a face button lol. Thanks for the clarification.

As for the indicator discrepancy between PS4 and XB, that sounds like a bug. What onball indicator are you talking about though? The Who To Guard arrow? The shot contest meter?Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
When I removed the band-aid for the shot meter glitch, greens naturally became harder to get. I'm getting mixed reviews on shooting so far - some saying it's still way too easy, some saying it's too hard. So maybe it's in a good place... tough to tell. I'll keep monitoring and see if anything needs to be tweaked with shooting but I'm not planning any drastic changes at the moment.

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Online head to head competition on the xbox one you cannot see the circle underneath the defender in order to determine if your opponent is playing on or off ball defense. Yet on the ps4 in head to head competition online, you can see the very same circle underneath your the defender and you know unequivocally whether your opponent is guarding on ball or has switched to an offball defender. This discrepancy didn't exist between the 2 consoles on last gen systems; it began as soon the transition to next gen occurred. I can provide video evidence if you need it or need further clarification. Again..this applies to online gameplay only. My MLO mates and I have been baffled by why xb1 users who play in sim leagues or PNO or my team online for that matter cannot see who their defender is guarding. Let me know if I'm being clear or if you need further clarification. Thanks again for interacting with the community. Much appreciated.Comment

I'm still trying to work out the kinks on my end wrt defense before I start claiming anything needs to be tweaked or changed since I've seen more than a handful of users say they've had success slowing the CPU down in the paint.
Oh, and one more thing: Have you ever noticed that in USER vs CPU games that after the basket cuts almost ALWAYS put the scorer at three quarters court with the CPU player he defends is warped back to half-court? In 2K16 they both warped back to half-court after the basket, but now the player who scored is supremely out of position. This isn't always a problem with some of the guards, but with the bigs that's a LOT of ground to try to make up.
I believe that is what is contributing to the complaints of Centers running back unopposed. Or maybe it's just me but thought I should mention it.Comment

Always wondered why that feauture is not available on PC. Maybe also by accident?Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
You would be the real MVP if you and the online team can deliver this in the next patch Mike. You already know the divide that exists in the community between those who prefer on ball vs off ball defense. All we ask for is the ability to see if we are being guarded on ball or off ball with the return of the on ball indicator circle showing online in head to head competition, on the XB. We deserve the same treatment as the PS4 online community when it comes to this matter. Thank you so much for your attention to this critical matter in the xbox online community![OS Vets NBA 2K10 Champion]
