They designated this build as the slasher who makes off ball cuts and hammers it down in transition the rim off cuts and oops.

They archetype we want is Athletic Finisher / Driver or Elusive Finisher someone more akin to Early Kobe, Early Vince Carter, Julius Erving, Prime Rose and Westbrook.

Instead they give us a build that closely resemble that Green dude who has crazy hops and can throw down some wicked oops but is not known for being a playmaker burner with the ball.

I wanted to make a Steve Francis dunk contest build at some point but Slasher won't achieve those aspirations. I'm better off using Playmaker and sacrificing the contact dunks that are reserved for players with 80+ driving dunk.

You'll have to be extra skillful to be a dominate driver with the Slasher build; he's like a tall Inside SF in 2k16.

Well I totally screwed up. I knew I was going to make 2 player from the start, a big and a guard. I like my PF athletic finisher but with my guard, I chose a 5"11 175lb. playmaker, big mistake lol lol lol. Wasted $30 of vc to build this player. Making a standard 6'4 guard is going to cost me another $35 dollars in vc from the store lol lol lol

Good post. This is why I told people to keep playing with dunk and dribble packages and make sure the character is optimized. Without changing speed, I noticed a significant boost to my explosiveness when I equipped the right packages. I think we need to really learn all of the layup angles and releases as well.

What dunk packages are the big man using ? I'm using Shawn Kemp and Blake. Been thinking about Darryl Dawkins. Last year it was best to not equip anything .

Yeah, the more I play with this build the more I realize that it's very much like Lockdown Defender in the fact that it's an IQ heavy build. You have to be Saavy with the moves and abuse the defense for mistakes.

            For Mecca,
6'5, 200 lbs SG Slasher. With the extra attributes from Park I'll be able to max everything but post scoring and 3pts. 3pt maxes at 59, so I said screw it.

Went Taller, Shorter wingspan, and more lower on weight to try to boost speed.

Relevant stats: 91/92 driving dunk, 77 stand dunk, 91 layup, 85/86 contact dunk.

Should finish high 70s low 80s on shoot off dribble. And rebounds. Mids are 71, speed is 90, Speed with ball 77, ball control 81.

I maintain I get weird cutting animations off the first step. Hopsin who posts here has seen it. Described it as "Blinking and suddenly your slasher is at the rim". Speculation is that Slasher might get a special 1st step animation

Damn I thought it was bad just because I have low overall lol

The worst for me is that I have literally no other choice but to go for a bad layup because the pull up jumper isn't saying much (at least at my current ratings)

I was just holding out hope that my 6'8 Slashing SG would still be able to finish with acrobat.

I'm currently having so many dunks turn into layups and missing its making me sad.

Wow, our builds are almost identical. I'm 6'6, 10 lbs lighter. Speed is 88. Ball Control is 79. Everything else is just about the same.

Re: Thoughts on the slasher build.

The fact that you guys have taller guards such as 6'5-6'6 slashers is probably helping you guys posterize. Some if us are still missing lightly contested layups. And if slashers were designed to cut without the ball, why'd we get a one man fast break badge? Well I just unlocked HOF posterizer, Relentless finisher and my grand badge, We'll see how much of a difference it makes.

@Violence I have yet to notice the explosive first step but I may need to play park more to compare other players launches. And if you don't mind could you share your crossover/layup moves? I currently have drose crosses with westbrooks layups

I can't wait to get my upgradable badges. I'm finishing at the rim pretty decent. The layup timing is hard to learn after playing without it for so long. I know the Derrick Rose layup package is awesome for floaters. There are a few different smooth animations for it. Still testing out some of the dribble moves. I do really like the Elite 1 behind the back move. It's similar to J. Crawford's. I've been doing well in my games considering how awful my team is lol. The Suns are really bad.

Could be that most people tried to make their players faster by lowering their weight hence sacrificing strength. I have my strength tree almost full for my cap. Been pushing a lot of the other SF around in Pro AM, so I think not many people are placing much value in the strength tree.

Loving the Layup meter, and other skill based changes they made this year.

From the missed layup thread... But definitely relevant. I've been having a lot of success with cutting off ball, running the break, putbacks cleaning the glass. Also noticed i have the best defensive ratings on my Pro Am. So i think your on to something with the support role/ poor man's LDD.

Overall it took me a while to adjust, but liking my decision to go slasher more and more.

To the peeps having issues finishing out of curiosity what is your strength rating?

Ive been dunking on everybody and making the majority of my contested layups in both MYPARK and PROAM.

My strength rating is 70 btw..

Strength is missing 5 bars and it's currently at about 55. But I'm starting to actually love this build! The standing dunks over all these playmakers!!! I'm also finally hitting amazing layups. Might be because we went on a streak, don't know for sure but as of now I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out.

I don't know if slasher is the move for me, I can barely finish layups at all, only one contact dunk triggered in the park so far, and every single layup I attempt in Pro Am is either an F quality or I get stuffed, same with dunks. But then again, my strength rating is only a 49 right now.. who knows, maybe I'll be a lot better once I max that out and earn my badges.

Badges helped me with dunking, I was regretting my choice too but now I'm happy I chose to be a slasher. Go for the HOF badges.
