Reggie Bullock from the Pistons is always nice. 90 rating in open 3 pointers. Easily gets me 2-4 threes a game.
I'll also second Harrell from the rockets. Great in the pick and roll and tons of putbacks

Pat patterson. Good stretch 4 guy with solid interior D. Though he's a bit slow, but he is reliable on both ends

Not sure if he fits the thread, but for my expansion team I picked up Nerlens Noel.
Not much on the offensive end aside from pick and rolls, but a solid defender and rebounder. Just entering December and he is averaging 14 and 14. And he has a decent enough drop step to beat the real bad low post defenders. He is kinda like a poor man's DeAndre Jordan.
I also like having PF Thomas Robinson coming off the bench. He sucks in a lot of areas, but I guarantee you having him will improve your team's rebounding. He is also a pretty good defender. Just expect opposing defenses to sag off of him.
I also have good success with PG Kay Felder. He is quick and has a very good midrange game. Defenses frequently forget about him.Comment

Really surprised nobody else has said Willie Cauley Stein.
He can't shoot for the life of him, but he is uber athletic, can dunk and rebound like crazy, and because he is super athletic, his help defense around the rim is nuts.
I use him on the defensive end for rim protection and love running the pick n roll with him on the other end.Comment

I'm a Milwaukee resident so Thon us no secret to me in 2k....but I work on his perimeter D in year 1 and then play him at SF/PF. With Giannis running the point and Middleton at SG, as well as Jabari and Thon, then trade for a few of my favorite big men. I'm rolling out a lineup of 6'11, 6'8, 6'9, 7'1, and 7,0.
Papagiannis and Skal are beasts who develop super quick and have a little range.
I always try to snag Tyus Jones who is a freak and will out run the break as well as Bruno Caboclo who can jump out of the gym and is a great player if you work on his handles. Corner 3s for days with him.
In the end of the first year in my main MyCareer I swapped Middleton and a 1st for Drummond and KCP, which just makes things even more fun with the giant lineup.Comment

I play almost exclusively MyGM/Coach mode (the simcast/save and quit/reload shenanigans) and Norman Powell is crazy good for me in that mode. Fantastic perimeter defense, very solid long range shooting, and on the rare occasion he goes to the basket he pulls off some sweet dunks in traffic. I traded for him in my Sixers franchise and he's my starting 2. Yi Jianlian has also outplayed the minimum contract he gets for coming off the bench, as well as Lance Stephenson in my Timberwolves franchise.Comment

Re: What rookies or other roleplayers (bench) are hidden gems 2K17
I always sign Norris Cole when I'm in need of someone to come off the bench as a solid point guard. He's a free agent, asks for a minimum contract and gets the job done. He's not all that old either, so you can keep him for several season, playing decent consistently, and he'll never ask for more than a minimum deal. Jerian Grant, Briante Weber and Kay Felder are some good options as well.
Norman Powell can easily be a starter for a lot of teams, very well rounded shooting guard that is easy to acquire in trades as he is too good to be third option (DeRozan and Ross). I once got Tim Hardaway Jr as a salary filler in a trade, he was pretty nice. Ended up being my main guy on the bench unit, so I'll definitely give him another go some time. Malachi Richardson and Luwawu-Cabarrot develops into very useful players as well, both can be 3-and-D types of players.
Hollis-Jefferson is always a great acquisition when you need a wing defender. He can't really do much than play D and catch-and-shoot, but his defence is ELITE. I like Robert Covington as a solid, well rounded backup at the 3 as well as Shabazz Muhammad.
Now a real hidden gem is Richaun Holmes of the 76ers! I've used him in MyGM, MyLeague, Play Now Online and he's a BEAST everytime. When swimming games he gets the job done, grabs a good amount of rebounds and scores a bit as well. Good backup from the get-go, but not amazing. However, when I play with him he goes mental. He hits every open jumper he gets, no matter the range. I've double-checked his shooting stats numerous times and there's nothing suggesting he should be able to ball like that. He runs the break well, dunks on fools, drains threes, rebounds and plays stellar D. I think I averaged 20 points in the games I played with him, and that was with him sharing the ball with Simmons, Embiid etc. I've also signed Michael Beasley a few times, and he's always a good pickup.
Nerlens Noel would be my go to guy at center if he didn't consistently ask for a max contract at the end of the first season. I don't think he's worth all that being - as mentioned earlier in the thread - a poor man's DeAndre Jordan... However, if you keep him on the 76ers team and limit his minutes (that was my experience anyway) he doesn't demand that big of a contract in the off season and then he's a really good role player who can offer great rim protection and can be used on fast breaks and in the pick n' roll.Comment
