I thought that 15 and 16 were far better in this aspect. Not every team is a half-court team.

Fixing the fast breaks adds another layer of strategy in match ups as well. Do I want to limit the transition and get back or do I want to maximize my rebounding. Is anyone else experiencing this?

fb are a mess imo. i'm not sure if 2k was trying to improve on them and failed, or they were just trying to mask the bad transition defense and/or prevent cheese.

anyway, it's awful. post in the fb thread so it gets more attention:

As a single player MyGM guy, yes, fast breaks are horrible this year. MUCH better last year.

Re: Thread For OFFLINE Users To Discuss Tuner Changes, Patches, etc.

As it stands right now, here are my issues with the game (I play on Hall of Fame with default sliders):
        • User: Right now I'm shooting on average in the mid 50% range. I'd like this to be achievable, but I don't want it every single game. I think the percentage for wide open threes (of which I'm getting way too easily right now) could be reduced a little bit. I like where we are with contested threes and mid range. It is pretty easy to get open shots right now since the CPU defense usually breaks down on a pick and roll, either giving up an easy dunk or a wide open three.
        • CPU: I'd say the CPU is shooting in the 48-52% range against me on average at the moment (I'd like to see this in the 44-48% range on average for User and CPU). The CPU right now seems to be automatic in the mid range, post, and inside no matter how heavily they are contested. I think the threes for the CPU are ok right now in a half court setting. I find myself giving the CPU lightly contested threes over heavily contested inside/midrange shots on purpose now since it is the only shot that goes in at a realistic percentage. I shouldn't have to do this.
        • The pull ups on the fast break by the CPU , from both three and mid range, are going in at way too high of a clip right now. It doesn't help that my CPU teammates NEVER close out on these shots. If I don't manually close out extremely early on these right now, the CPU will make it every time. It seems like the defensive AI was not set up to deal with the offensive players running to the three point line and pulling up, which is a new feature this year.
        • Something has to be done about the passes inside by the CPU. Right now, my CPU teammates are oblivious to backdoor cuts and lose their man after every Off-Ball collision animation. My CPU teammates often try to go for steals on these passes, but they practically never tip them and just leave themselves out of position to contest the shot. This seems to be a kind of last ditch effort by the CPU if everything else on that possession is shut down, but it leads to success for the CPU way too frequently. I'd like to see turnovers in these situations more often than not (of which there are too few of at the moment).
        • The new off-ball collision system right now seems to only benefit the offensive team, which I would guess is the opposite of the reason it was put in. The defensive players seem to lose awareness of where they are on the court and where their matchup is for a split second after the animation ends. The CPU offense almost always takes advantage of this lapse unless you manually intervene (and I can abuse it as well when I'm on offense if I choose to). I'd like to see the defensive players react much more quickly at the end of these animations.
        • The pace of the game is far too high at the moment. The CPU tries to push the ball up off of a miss on every single possession. They will occasionally walk it up after a made basket, but I would like to see this happen off misses as well. It should also happen much more frequently.
        • No one hustles back on defense. This coupled with the CPU always trying to push the pace on offense leads to far too many easy buckets, which affects the high PIP numbers and high field goals percentages. I find myself manually switching over to my bigs to make sure they beat the offensive players into the paint. I shouldn't have to do this manually on every possession.

I play only offline MyGM and have to say I hate this game, almost as much as I hated 2K15.

I played the first game of a new MyGm season with the Magic and won 136-134. This was default All Star and no overtime. I know I complain every year about the scoring of the CPU on lower difficulty levels, but I didn't think it would get worse this year.

I agree. I play on hall of fame default too. The level of competition is good but percentages are a little high sometimes. Mostly because of poor defense. Reducing the pace and inside passing would help. Every game has 4-5 buckets we should not see and those impact percentages.

The game will be perfect to me when we will be able.to replicate a Cavs-Warriors game. I feel every time two big teams meet it's going to be a 50-50% game.

Every Cavs-Warriors game i played was offensive oriented. In real life those types of game are decided by defenses...

Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm again. Every game I've played today has been crazy high scores with insane fg% for both teams, especially from deep.

I've just come to the realization offline players who just want to play a game of NBA basketball aren't gonna get what they want. We get something tuned or fixed, the online crowd complains, and it reverts back to every team making darn near everything they put up.

I'm not even mad anymore. The my park guys can have this game. I'm done stressing myself out trying to get a realistic game of NBA ball. It's just not happening.

I've been playing all day today. I don't know if they released an update without telling us, but it's back to swishing everything.

So you're saying that for offline guys, sliders aren't able to fix the high shooting percentages. I'm asking legitimately, since I have decided to wait until after the next gameplay patch before even starting in on this game.

Offline player, and I have a different view of NBA basketball. I crafted my own blend of sliders. I want the CPU to try and attack the paint, use the post more. I have it set to where forcing a jumpshot is the goal and a sign of good defense.

3PT set at 40, Midrange set at 45. CPU Tendency 'Look for Post Player' on 80. I didn't tweak 'Attack The Basket', I don't want players who normally don't attack the basket do it more often, however might increase it to 60-65.

Driving Contact and Inside Contact at 100, need more body contact. I liked that style in 2K for years, personally not a fan of it being set at 50.

Fatigue Rate is at 57, it forces myself to walk the ball up the court and play a patient tempo rather than be turbo happy and run around and force it (this has made me a better player on offense).

Just minor changes I've made using the Superstar slider base.

                        Teams are shooting between 38-43%

Even lowering shooting sliders does close to nothing.

There's something under the hood going on here, again. It was close to perfect after the last tuning update, now it's back to the way it was before.

Even cranking shooting sliders down to 42 doesn't help much at all. It's incredibly disappointing because this is the only game I play year round.

This has been the most unplayable version for me since 2004. I don't know, is what it is. Park and pro am guys complained they couldn't make more than half of their shots, and it's back to making everything.

Sliders can change overall numbers but they can't have an impact over contested/uncontested ecc.

Honestly sliders are already low (40-45 40-45 45-48 45-47 if i remember correctly).

The very sad thing is that we cannot ask sliders changes beacuse they are working on updates. They should stop updates to give us the chance to test other sets...

I learned my lesson after the last couple of years to wait until the big November gameplay patch to see what the actual core gameplay will be tuned to. It's saved me from all the frustration that you guys are feeling.
